HeadGives information about the head of the costume. If reviewing a set of ears, the answers would also go in this section.
Head is a little loose, I think a size smaller would have been perfect. Moving my head around I can feel the head slipping and lagging behind me. This gets especially annoying as it would push my balaclava in front of my eyes. Since fixed by pinning the balaclava to my under armor!
Ventilation wasn’t too great as the head was too big for me to open the jaw with my mouth alone. I brought it up with MFL and they showed me how to sew it open, so now the ventilation is amazing!
Vision is really really good! Very small blind spot in the middle.
Markings wise is perfect! Though they were going to give me a black nose had I not caught it in a WIP.
Symmetry is fine, only small issues like an odd raised bump on the side of the snout and one cheek comes higher onto one eye than the other.
Shaving is perfect besides that strange bump.
The expression and appearance of the head could not be better! Absolutely perfect and can pull of a range of expressions, especially with the moving eyebrows.
This was MFL’s first time working with LEDs so I knew it was going to be a gamble. All LEDs stopped working after my first con (4 months after owning the suit), with the ones in the hands breaking after my first wear. The whiskers technically still work, but the whiskers themselves have since fallen out slowly (probably pulled by kids I didn’t see). I have replaced them but haven’t been able to get them into the exact spots the old ones were.
BodyGives information about the main body of the costume. If reviewing a separate set of pants/legs or torso, the answers would also go in this section.
The fit of the bodysuit is definitely the best fitting part of this suit. Absolutely perfect, nice and snug while still allowing plenty of movement.
Strangely the sleeves got shorter over time but I’ve had them extended to fix that.
The neck is lined with a nice minky-like material so it is very soft and comfortable. Interior appears neat, but I haven’t seen the inside of many other bodysuits.
I’ve had issues with the zip coming down on its own while suiting, fixed via attaching a clasp to the top of the suit to attach the zip to.
Seams also pop often, mainly after a wash. Simple fix so it doesn’t bother me too much.
Symmetry is perfect! And I don’t think there was any shaving done on the bodysuit. Just different length furs.
The markings were almost perfect. The main thing they missed was that the white parts on the knees were supposed to be swishes but they did them as just straight points. The rest were just small things like the back swishes should have been pointed on each end rather than starting flat, and the white on the backs of the arms are flat rather than arcing around.
There is padding sewn into the shoulder blades and calves, the knee padding is not attached and just sits against your legs when you wear it. It is extremely comfortable and doesn’t restrict your movement whatsoever. Really impressive.
My only issue is in one leg the calf padding goes a bit funky and sticks out to the side when I wear it. I’ve had someone a smidge larger than me in the suit and the digigrade looked absolutely perfect and beautiful. So sizing issue maybe? Haven’t managed to find a fix for it yet.
Hands and FeetGives information about the hands and/or feet of the costume.
I got 2 pairs of feet; a large roo-like pair and a smaller practical pair.
The large ones are too big and extremely front heavy so it is very easy to just kick them off. Fixed it by putting a pair of flats in the feet to take up some space. But otherwise they are extremely comfortable and extremely high quality. They’re like wearing slippers.
The main issue I had with these was I ordered outdoor feet and I got indoor feet. Unfortunately I didn’t bring it up with them as I was new to fursuits and thought they were some magical outdoor feet that looked as awesome as indoor feet. When I realised, I didn’t bring it up with them as I didn’t want to cause a fuss. Lesson learned! Since had another maker convert them to outdoor feet for me.
The smaller pair fits perfectly, and is equally as high quality and comfortable. Plus was actually outdoor feet.
I also got 2 pairs of hands; a pair of 4 fingered toony puffy paws, and a pair of 5 fingered practical paws with escapable holes for my fingers.
The 4 fingered paws are very floppy and large. I had mentioned that my hands were smaller than average but they assured me it would be fine. Personally I would have much rathered to have them made a size or two smaller. Besides that they are extremely comfortable.
The 5 fingered pair is a much better fit. Still would prefer a bit smaller to be perfect, but still fits. Unfortunately seams pop in between the fingers very often. Usually one seam pops after each wear. But still very comfy!
Appearance wise everything is perfect! I have only had one major issue; the claws. The claws are made of a vinyl material that is not durable in the slightest. Only after a few wears on the big feet they became all torn up from the tips and looked horrific. Regretting ordering plush claws on the feet. Had another maker replace them with resin claws for me.
The claws on the smaller pair are raised so they haven’t gotten as torn as the ones on the big feet, but they are definitely still slightly shredded on the tips. The claw on the heels are very shredded.
Fortunately this hasn’t been an issue with my paws. The 4 fingered paws have these same claws and are still perfectly fine. However my 5 fingered paws, I ordered those ones to not have any claws but they ended up with resin claws…? They look and function fine and I wasn’t fussed about it, was just strange.
No other special features in the feet.
The 4 fingered paws had LEDs in them, but those quickly fell apart after my first couple of wears. The battery pack was too cumbersome to stay velcro’d to the inside of the paw, and the wires were loose among my hands so they just ripped apart.
TailsGives information about any tails the costume may have.
The tail is AMAZING. They use a large, thick kidney belt to support the tail and it feels incredible. Very natural and doesn’t feel heavy in the slightest. It is also a foam based tail, making it nice and light.
Over time the tail started coming away from the belt as it was only glued on. Since been re-glued and sewn on.
Appearance is perfect!
OverallHow satisfied the reviewer is with the overall buying experience, including their interactions with the maker and the resulting final product.
Also very satisfied, all responses were within 48 hours. Usually within 24 hours.
No other comments, mainly just kicking myself for not bringing up all the issues with MFL. The only con was that I would have liked more WIPs, then I might have been able to catch that they were making indoor instead of outdoor feet. Otherwise they are extremely awesome makers that I would highly recommend working with, as long as you’re not too ridiculously picky about your markings!
