HeadGives information about the head of the costume. If reviewing a set of ears, the answers would also go in this section.
The head is very cute, however it is extremely long on me. When I wear the head, the mouth/breathing hole are down my neck and my nose is where the eyes are. I constantly have to push the head up (think pushing up glasses) and hold my head very upright, almost tilted back. This gets very annoying because then you cannot see my suit’s mouth.
It is lined all the way through with a black stretchy sort of material! It is a little irritating against my skin when I sweat, but it is leagues better than unlined foam. It is lined very well too. Nothing inside the head pokes me or stabs me and it is very comfortable inside.
Ventilation would be fantastic if the head fit properly!! When I hold it up I can breathe VERY well and see very well as well! However when the head slips down ventilation is pretty bad since the mouth opening is pushed against my chest. Vision in the suit is AMAZING when the head propped up. There isn’t a big blind spot at all.
I’m very happy with my head, she’s super cute! PyropeCostume’s style is fantastic. The symmetry is pretty good and all of her markings match my concept art well on the head. I am very happy with the nose and especially the fluffy cheeks. All of the fur is high quality and you cannot see the backing- the shaving is good!
The expression is super cute when the suit is worn properly, however because the head is so long on me, the head tends to tilt down and make it look like my suit does not have a mouth, just an upper muzzle. I have to look upwards when photos are being taken in order to show the mouth. The head is also REALLY big when worn as a partial, so I cannot partial in this suit, but looks absolutely perfect with her bodysuit so I’m not complaining 🙂
The follow me eyes are gorgeous. PyropeCostumes did a wonderful job painting her eyes perfectly. I couldn’t be happier! My suit head also has detachable tongues, which is super cute and lets her have different expressions
BodyGives information about the main body of the costume. If reviewing a separate set of pants/legs or torso, the answers would also go in this section.
The fit of my bodysuit is honestly a bit tight. I cannot sit down on the floor on it due to both the digi padding and it being a touch too tight! However this could be my fault as I might have gained weight between making my DTD in late Jan/early Feb and wearing her in May and August. My biggest gripe with the bodysuit is that the left leg is about 4 inches too short. My ankle is exposed when I wear the bodysuit or walk. I have to shuffle my feet on the ground and not bend my legs in order to keep my ankle hidden and it is very uncomfortable to have to do so…
Also, I have scoliosis, causing my right side of my back to be bigger/bulgier than my left. This was reflected on my DTD and I did warn my maker about this, however even so the right side of the upper body shoulder area is too small and exposes my shoulder. The body itself is quite comfortable save for these issues, but because of these major issues it makes wearing her uncomfortable.
The durability has not been the best with the suit, upon receiving it a lot of seams in the back were popped (before I wore it) and I had to reinforce them myself. I’ve worn Jupiter to two cons (I am not an active fursuiter, I do not run or roughhouse in my suit. I planned to dance but I unfortunately cannot in this suit!) and I have found numerous popped seams and holes in the body. I have not had the chance to repair them yet and I will not until I put the suit through the wash (I have not washed my bodysuit yet.)
The digi on this suit is achieved through pillow padding (removable) in the thighs, butt padding (removable) and calf padding (sewn in)
On my maker (much shorter than me) the digi looked fantastic and very cute, however on me the digi is too small, too thin, and too short. It is almost unnoticeable on me. The upper thigh pillow digi ends just above my knee, which is definitely too short. I am not super pleased with the look of the digi unfortunately, but if it fit me properly it would be fantastic and super duper cute (it looked FANTASTIC on my maker!) I believe PyropeCostumes is capable of making adorable digi, but needs to work on fitting it to the customer.
From the outside the body looks great worn by someone shorter and smaller than me. However, when I wear it, my left ankle is exposed, the digi is too short and small, and my right shoulder is exposed. Other than this, I am happy with the body! The markings match the character design perfectly save for one crucial mistake- the heart on my characters leg was sewn onto the WRONG leg on my bodysuit. My maker was rushing to finish in time and in the rush, she sewed the heart onto the wrong thigh.
The heart was supposed to be on the left, and she put it onto the right thigh. This definitely is annoying for me as I am unhappy with the right side of my body and designed my suit to have the heart on the left to avoid taking photos from my right.
I didn’t get any pics of the bodysuit fully completed with the heart before she sent it out, so I could not inform her, I found out only when I unboxed the suit. To my maker’s credit, she asked me to send the suit back and she would fix it, however as my maker is in Mexico, shipping is extremely expensive and slow, so this was not an option for me.
All shaving on the body was done well! I wish she had shaved down the markings on my bodysuit’s back a bit, but that isn’t a big deal. The fur between the thighs and butt was shaved short, and with walking and use it has worn down into hard crunchy fur, but that is my body’s fault haha.
I’m not very pleased with the digi padding because it is far too small for me and ends up making my calves look very long and twiggy and human like, which is not the intention for the suit unfortunately. The hole for the tail is also quite high up on the back.
Hands and FeetGives information about the hands and/or feet of the costume.
The handpaws of my suit are very comfortable! They are a tiny bit big on me but other than that the handpaws are very comfortable. They are both lined inside, however I had to cut the lining out of the left paw as the lining in the fingers came loose and made it near impossible to put the paw on. My wrists do show while I wear the paws, but I’m not sure if that is because the arms on my bodysuit are too short, or another issue…?
As for durability, they have popped quite a few seams which I cannot repair due to the lining inside, I cannot access the seams. They are also stuffed very plush so I cannot turn them inside out easily.
The shoes are built on plastic crocs! The crocks make it easy to slip them on, however one of the straps in the back of the croc broke on one paw so it’s shaped a little funny because of that. The feetpaws are too big on me by about 2 sizes, but if I wear socks it isn’t that big of a deal.
The handpaws look great! The fingers are a little bit rotated/twisted but I don’t really mind that much. The shaving is fantastic all around on the handpaws and the top has a lining which looks very clean. The paw pads are stuffed minky and bubbly and I love them soooo much. The claws are stuffed fleece and so far still look very clean!
The feetpaws look fantastic, zero complaints on the adorable feet appearance wise.
TailsGives information about any tails the costume may have.
The tail is pretty complicated… it’s fine and dandy to wear, however if I move an inch the tail flops over on its side or upside down. It will not stand up straight. The straps to hold it on are pink fleece and look very cute, but they have gotten stretched and it does not help hold the tail up. The straps are sewn on a bit crookedly.
The tail, if it stood up, would look absolutely fantastic, however it does not stand up so I’m not happy at all with the tail. However I love that she left the fur on the underside longer vs the shaved top part.
OverallHow satisfied the reviewer is with the overall buying experience, including their interactions with the maker and the resulting final product.
The suit itself is very consistent with PyropeCostumes other works looks wise, but I think just some general construction issues and PyropeCostumes not taking my body into consideration closely enough while making the suit caused it to be a bit of a flop in some ways. If I was about 4 to 5 inches shorter and maybe 40 lbs lighter, this suit would fit a LOT better. Most of the issues (things being too short) are height related and unfortunately really cannot be fixed even with weight loss.
If you are okay with no deadlines and possibly waiting a long time between paying for your suit and seeing any actual progress, then honestly I would recommend her! I have already recommended her to a lot of different people and my second suit will be from her! I love her work.
She puts out extremely cute stuff with a clean and polished look for an extremely, extremely reasonable price. I am not sure what to say about the issues on my body but I think they come from the suit being rushed out- so if you let her take her time you will likely get a beautiful product. 🙂
