HeadGives information about the head of the costume. If reviewing a set of ears, the answers would also go in this section.

Wear Satisfaction How satisfying this piece is to wear with regard to comfort, fit, material quality, etc.

Are you satisfied with how it fits you?: Extremely satisfied; snug at first, but after continued wear, fits absolutely perfect. Extremely comfortable and spacious, everything is lined up exactly where it needs to be (eyes, nose, chin (despite my chin not being strong enough to activate the articulated jaw without exaggeration (slowly being broken in, though))).

Is it lined?: Head is completely lined with lycra/spandex-like material/perfect for sweat wicking and cleaning.

How is the ventilation?: Ventilation is created through the eyes, mouth, and ears. Only hot due to the amount of detail/fur/foam/etc as it is probably the most detailed part of the entire suit (but nothing putting my face in front of a fan can’t easily fix). Not stuffy, but does get hot gradually with extended wear (heat tolerance is also growing, but the head is the hottest part of the entire suit).

How is the vision?: Only dead center between the eyes due to snout/nose is obscured, but otherwise wide vision, pretty easily aware of surroundings.

Appearance Satisfaction How satisfying this piece is to look at with regard to material quality, design, how closely it matches the concept, etc.

How is the symmetry?: Symmetry (where symmetry is exercised) is precise, despite the head being asymmetrical. Mirrored parts match, and the ears/eyes/etc all match perfectly.

Is the shaving even?: Shaving is amazing, transitions are flawless and perfectly executed on all parts shaving or transitions are made (especially the head despite all of its detail).

How does the fur feel and look?: Fur is in wonderful condition, brushes/smooths easily, looks great. no airbrushing used, so nothing will fade/etc. All markings done with sewing.

How satisfied are you with the expression and overall appearance of the head?: The head is easily my favorite part of the entire suit: three base expressions can be executed due to poseable eyebrows (happy, confused (either brow down), angry). Different angles can vary these into tons more of options. 3D eyes create slight follow-me effect.

Does it match the concept art?: Head perfectly matches concept art, and is true to initial design; no modifications were made, Tunny stayed true to all details and did not make any shortcuts (EX: whiskers being asymmetrical and bent where they’re supposed to be).

Special Attachments and Features Information about any special or unique features this piece has with regard to the reviewer's satisfaction of them.

What are they and how do they work?: Special features of head: poseable eyebrows w/ swirl design (attached via foam base and magnetic, extremely functional and so no signs of failure), wire whiskers (attached into foam, so they will not fall out, all true to design), attached forked tongue and two “fang” top teeth, ear vents, articulated jaw (works better with a stronger jaw/exaggeration, still being broken in, but only i have issues using it if speaking normally (slowly starting to work without exaggeration, however)), ear/cheek/chin floof, “mohawk”, 3D eyes, bat-like “ribbed” inner ears, lip and inner mouth lined, attached lycra bat nose, tons of fur marking details, attached neck “mane” that is also lined with the same material as the inner head.

How easy are they to wear?: Head is easy to put on, brows are easy to change my myself even with paws on, jaw is comfortable and snug but works with exaggeration (as previously explained); all other features are static.

How is the quality?: The attention to detail is phenomenal: the quality is outstanding, the head is light and comfortable despite the amount of detail and sheer size. The head and all features included are extremely durable and I don’t have to baby any details/features. As previously stated, the head is my absolute favorite part of the entire suit, the pure dedication to stay as true to the design is absolutely insane. I love wearing it as much as possible, and am super proud of it and how it came out.

BodyGives information about the main body of the costume. If reviewing a separate set of pants/legs or torso, the answers would also go in this section.

Wear Satisfaction How satisfying this piece is to wear with regard to comfort, fit, material quality, etc.

How satisfied are you with how the body fits?: Bodysuit fits and allows space for cool down vest comfortably, true to my size/shape; movement is easy despite digitigrade padding and sheer size of the entire thing, padded chest isn’t even noticed, feels natural and blends in with the rest of the suit’s fit.

How is the quality and durability?: *knocks on wood* I haven’t experienced any popped seams, but the suit is extremely open to any movement used thus far. Everything feels and looks durable. Quality and detail is absolutely incredible.

What is the interior like?: The suit itself is not lined, but the “belly” and removable parts of where the digitigrade padding lies are. Despite this, the neck is finished/”cuffed”.

If there are construction marks on the inside, do they detract from the overall appearance?: Cute “calling card” material is used where spikes lie/etc but do not affect the outward appearance. All construction on the inside is unnoticeable when worn.

How is the airflow?: Honestly, I could wear my suit the longest out of all the parts without a single issue… out of all fullsuiting experiences, only the tops of my thighs get slightly sweaty (I normally sweat from here and my armpits pretty bad naturally, whereas my legs/arms/etc do not normally sweat under normal conditions), but due to the removable padding liners, this is comfortable and wicks sweat pretty well. Thus far, after a several hour session of recording/doing photoshoots, the suit is not damp almost at all with wearing sweat wicking underarmor on top of lined areas.

Appearance Satisfaction How satisfying this piece is to look at with regard to material quality, design, how closely it matches the concept, etc.

How is the symmetry?: The bodysuit is completely symmetrical, it being the main part of the design that actually follows symmetry. Everything matches both the design and concept art. Only (due to my mistake of a poor duct tape dummy) do the elbow tufts not match exact location necessary, but are close enough to not be a huge ordeal. Shoulder tufts are perfectly aligned and match design.

Is the shaving even?: No shaving was necessary on the bodysuit. All transitions are as smooth as butter. Fur lengths are all perfect.

How does the fur feel and look?: Fur is in wonderful condition, brushes/smooths easily, looks great. No airbrushing used, so nothing will fade/etc. All markings done with sewing and the only noticeable “breaking the magic” seam is the front zipper (but I wanted to be a “plush-like” suit with every detail possible to be “fabric-created”, so this was done on purpose and is worked perfectly into the design).

How satisfied are you with the selection of colors and materials used?: Colors and materials are perfect and are exactly what i envisioned with a “plush-leaning” design. Tummy padding, elbow/shoulder/back of leg tufts are all perfectly crafted.

Does it match the concept art?: No design changes were made, the concept art and suit itself match the character perfectly. No detail was left behind.

Special Attachments and Features Information about any special or unique features this piece has with regard to the reviewer's satisfaction of them.

What are they and how do they work?: Elbow/shoulder/back of leg tufts, back spikes. Flawlessly done, all created as envisioned and concepted and durable.

How easy are they to wear?: Suit can be put on by self with ease, even with the digitigrade padding, and zipped/snapped up.

How is the quality?: The bodysuit is definitely on par with the entire suit: everything is perfect and durable! The attention to detail is perfect, and all is crafted with love and care. The bodysuit is easy to wear and put on alone, and barely feels like added weight– though the size difference is definitely noticeable, haha! I’d love to fullsuit as much as I partial, given the opportunity.

Hands and FeetGives information about the hands and/or feet of the costume.

Wear Satisfaction How satisfying this piece is to wear with regard to comfort, fit, material quality, etc.

How satisfied are you with how the hands and feet fit?:
• 4 Claw Handpaws (with extended “half-sleeve”): Snug at first, but worn in perfectly. Extremely comfortable, movement is easy and dexterity despite being claws are better than expected. Nothing shows when fullsuiting, sizing is perfect to allow for no gaps. Claws stay on and are comfortably snug with the padding. Extremely easy to put on now with use.
• 5 Claw Handpaws (with extended “half-sleeve”): Snug at first, but worn in perfectly (more personal and snug than 4 claw). Extremely comfortable, movement is easy and dexterity is better than 4 claw due to individual fingers having full movement despite being claws and are better than expected. Nothing shows when fullsuiting, sizing is perfect to allow for no gaps. Claws stay on and are comfortably snug with the padding. Extremely easy to put on now with use. The index, middle, and thumb all feature finished finger escapes, which are easily hidden with the fur and unnoticeable when used. This feature is extremely useful and improves dexterity by that much.
• Clawed Footpaws: they may be the size of my head, but they fit snug and perfectly. dexterity took some getting used to due to sheer size, but were easy to get used to, especially when fullsuiting (partialing is super simple). no gaps are shown when fullsuiting, and the back-of-foot tufts line up perfectly. these suckers aren’t comin’ off my feet, even with the biggest of stomps! easy to put on by myself, even when in fullsuit.

How is the quality and durability?: All 3 items are extremely durable and forgiving. No signs of early wear seem apparent. They’re all perfect and meet each expected standard!

What is the interior like?:
• Both claw handpaws’ sleeves are not lined, but the claws themselves are lined with the same lining as the removable padding from the digitigrade bodysuit parts. This material is super forgiving for sweat, and cleaning isn’t hard at all. The ends are finished with cuffs like the neck.
• Clawed footpaws are lined with ?fabric? and seem pretty forgiving for sweat– even though my feet barely sweat. These are also finished with cuffs. They have outdoor-bottoms and feel like squishy slippers (and not on a shoe-like base).

Appearance Satisfaction How satisfying this piece is to look at with regard to material quality, design, how closely it matches the concept, etc.

How is the symmetry?: As before, everything is symmetrical, across all three items. claws are different shapes between all three items, but all match correct design necessary depending on the item (EX: handpaw claws are like “triangles”, curved up to a point with “flat” bottom). All match the designs needed wonderfully.

Is the shaving even?: No shaving necessary. All transitions are perfect, just like the rest of the suit!! Fur length and choice were exactly what I wanted.

How does the fur feel and look?: Fur is in wonderful condition, brushes/smooths easily, looks great. No airbrushing used, so nothing will fade/etc. All markings done with sewing and the only noticeable “breaking the magic” seams fit the “plush-like” suit design I wanted, with every detail possible to be “fabric-created”, so this was done on purpose and is worked perfectly into the design.

How satisfied are you with the selection of colors and materials used?: Everything was created with fabric or fur! Color and fabric decisions used match the “plush-like” design I was shooting for. No paw pads are on the character, so none are used. Everything feels wonderful and snug. Durability is certainly up to standard across all three items.

Do they match the concept art?: No design changes were made; everything is true to the concept art and original design!

4 Claw Handpaws

5 Claw Handpaws

Clawed Footpaws

Special Attachments and Features Information about any special or unique features this piece has with regard to the reviewer's satisfaction of them.

What are they and how do they work?: Out of all three items, the only item to fit into a “special feature” category would be the five claw handpaws that feature finger escapes. These work wonderfully and do not take away from the handpaws at all (finished and seemingly invisible).

How easy are they to wear?: Out of all three items, the only item to fit into a “special feature” category would be the five claw handpaws that feature finger escapes. These slip on exactly like the four claw pair and aren’t hard to use/dexterity is good despite the design.

How is the quality?: The handpaws are not weighted at all despite the padded claws. Rhe footpaws, since they are pretty big, are something to get used to when fullsuiting, but are pretty easily manageable when partialing. They’ve been the least used part of the suit so far due to how I use my suit (recording videos), so will take some practice getting used to due to sheer size, but aren’t weighty at all. All three items fit seamlessly with the suit, regardless of partialing or fullsuiting. Everything feels durable thus far.

TailsGives information about any tails the costume may have.

Wear Satisfaction How satisfying this piece is to wear with regard to comfort, fit, material quality, etc.

How satisfied are you with how the tail(s) fit?: Tails are unattached from the suit and are worn by a belt (there are holes for the belt to slip through and attach the tails to the bodysuit seamlessly). Due to being floor-draggers, the design curved them up to slightly at the ends to “hover” over the ground and only drag in one section for ease of cleaning. During partialing, they are easily managed, but they are a little bit of something to get used to when fullsuiting due to the sheer amount of size of everything assembled. When partialing, I can put my tails on by myself, but when fullsuiting, I need help attaching them. With the design of them being curled at the tips, it makes them being floor draggers extremely easy to not step on/trip over when in fullsuit or even partialing.

How is the quality and durability?: The loops for the belt are securely attached and even, and are mirrored, so they both fit at the same height. I’ve stepped over my tails when I had limited space and had first fullsuited, and they didn’t damage the shape at all. They seem pretty dang durable for being floor draggers, and nothing has worn yet.

If there is any padding or armature, does it look right and function correctly?: They are padded and look perfect/function just as planned.

Appearance Satisfaction How satisfying this piece is to look at with regard to material quality, design, how closely it matches the concept, etc.

How is the symmetry?: The symmetry of the tails themselves are perfect, despite being alternating in stripe color. They have the exact amount of sections true to the design/concept art and are the same in size/etc.

Is the shaving even?: No shaving necessary, but the fur transitions are seamless and there are no signs of seams. Fur colors and lengths are perfect!

How does the fur feel and look?: Fur is in wonderful condition, brushes/smooths easily, looks great. No airbrushing used, so nothing will fade/etc. All markings done with sewing.

How satisfied are you with the selection of colors and materials used?: The fur used is wonderful for the behemoth tails, feeling/looking nice and soft/fluffy. They follow behind me as planned, the padding keeping them curled slightly upward so they don’t completely drag.

Does it match the concept art?: The only change was making the tails curve (matching the concept art, however) rather than be absolute draggers, but design is 100% true and wonderful.

Special Attachments and Features Information about any special or unique features this piece has with regard to the reviewer's satisfaction of them.

What are they and how do they work?: Only special feature is being padded into a shape. They are belt-attached.

How easy are they to wear?: Extremely easy to wear when paritialing, but some assistance is needed looping them through the holes in the suit and the belt through both sets of tail-loops.

How is the quality?: As with the rest of the suit, the quality is absolutely top-notch!

OverallHow satisfied the reviewer is with the overall buying experience, including their interactions with the maker and the resulting final product.

Product Satisfaction How satisfied the reviewer is with the overall look and feel of the costume in its entirety.

How was your concept art realized?

Did the maker require art from a specific artist? Was it an extra cost or difficulty for you to obtain?: Nope! The artist created the concept artist himself, and included the price of the reference in the quote.

How did the maker interpret your concept art?: The only alteration we made was making the stomach ribbed, rather than a marking (which I feel makes it seem more monster-y, definitely being a great call). Other than that, my fursona literally came to life!

How closely does the costume match your design?: From my reference, to his concept art, to finished project… everything was consistent and remained exactly the same, how it should have been!

How well does everything fit together and match up?

Does everything match up at the seams?: All markings, color choices (given the amount of color and detail), fur lengths…. literally everything is perfect and I wouldn’t want anything to change. It’s exactly what I wanted, and even more: Tunny came up with so many neat ideas for my suit and I don’t think anybody else could have made it more perfect. No gaps here!

Does everything fit correctly?: Despite my shoddy duct tape dummy, it all came out wonderfully sized! The suit as a whole is honestly remarkable, and even just partialing is pretty dang cool.

Do any of the pieces tug on any others (e.g. if the tail pulls at the tail hole, tearing it over time)?: Nope! It’s all like a solid piece of art, but nothing bothers any other part of the suit (EX: the tails making my suit droop, etc). It’s all perfectly planned out.

Is this costume consistent with the maker’s style?: Tunny’s style was the main reason I picked him, so, yep, it matches his style! I may be a bit biased, but I honestly think [REDACTED] was perfect for his style, coming out as one of his best suits so far. It came out better than expected, and when I received it IRL, it was even better. I can’t wait to show it off at a convention so people can experience the suit IRL… pictures and videos don’t do it the justice it deserves.

Overall Project Quality

He completely exceeded expectations: definitely a steal for the price, multiple pieces, the suit all comes together perfectly, partial or fullsuit option, and the quality and love put into this suit will make it last a long time.

Purchase Process Details the interactions between the customer/reviewer and the maker of the item with regard to the buying process.

Initial Contact

I found him through the tumblr “http://makersdatabase.tumblr.com/” and did some digging around on his twitter and website. I contacted him first on twitter to confirm he was accepting quotes at the time, then filled out the form on his website! We handled payment through PayPal invoices. The process was super simple, and he was crystal clear on exact measurements needed with picture-aided “worksheets.” He also specified exact things he wanted marked on my DTD/how to make it/etc.

Maker Response Time

In the beginning, since it was a future slot, there was spread out contact over e-mail after accepting my quote/downpayment, then eventually as my slot got nearer, concept art and a swatch pack were supplied. Towards the end, things were handled through twitter DMs for quicker, small questions during the process/making parts. During production, I would receive answers in at least 48 hrs (normally earlier or same day).

Maker Professionalism

I feel like in the beginning, it was a little rough, but when we finally both kinda talked it out and got where one another stood, things took off much better. I was extremely passive and quiet, not really speaking up about things bothering me until it kinda blew up, which was mostly my fault, honestly. It was my first time handling such an expensive commission, and I had no experience commissioning a fursuit. After we both cleared the air, I felt tons better and communication was worlds better. He was always polite and shared tons of wonderful ideas, and treated the commission both professional and friendly. He’s a really good “first-timer” commission-taker, and helped with a lot of my anxieties. The biggest issue was the fact that he bit off more than he could chew, which caused the distance and missed deadlines. Though, he is actively working on his PR and timeliness, and in the past 3 months since I’ve commissioned him, I’ve already seen him improve worlds better with handling his oversaturated queue– even vowing to not open back up until everything is complete. I was also offered compensation for the missed deadlines/wait… but he was never rude, and kept a super level-head despite the rough patch he went through during the time my commission slot took place. He’s had timeliness issues in the past, and I still took the slot even knowing that. But, honestly, just like everybody says: it’s 100% worth the wait, you just need to be open and honest with him, and know that he does NOT TAKE DEADLINES, but general time periods. He’s working super hard to correct his past ways (even affirming he never foresees running into this situation again when he reopens), and I believe he’s worth the second chance. He’s absolutely lovely to talk to and work with, and I haven’t seen a more creative maker (even his side projects, such as animatronics) are so cool to follow, and if you ever need a prop, he’s definitely the one to go to! All of the ideas he shared and the love and details he put into my suit really show, and I will 100% recommend him when he opens back up again (I’m already planning suit additions I’d like to commission, if that shows how much I trust him and his new work ethic).

Project Completion Time

I was slotted for Summer 2017 start, late Summer/Fall 2017 completion… the suit starting a little later than the projected time and being finished/shipped in early May 2018. He has a public queue that’s updated pretty regularly, and every month he would post a projected work month schedule (now it’s more like a 4-month projected work schedule, as he’s trying to move into taking slots in a quarterly basis). I knew where I stood in line and where my suit’s completion was at all times due to both of these resources.

In the beginning, he was super overwhelmed trying to catch up with past projects on top of taking on new slots. After having a heart-to-heart, things were way more comfortable and communicated. Several deadlines were missed, but I was kept in the loop if they were going to be missed/the general time period the next one would be. He’s changing how he handles commissions next opening, and has been pretty open about it not only on twitter, but with his clients. Compensation and earnest apologies have been made, and he shows signs of genuinely wanting to catch up and do everybody right, and has finished more suits the past 3 months than I’ve seen since I got my quote. He’s trying extremely hard, is always open about delays on his twitter, and I respect that. I’ve never felt 100% lost and in the dark, he’s always tried to keep everybody in the loop.

The suit was shipped immediately after completion, and in a way that benefited my schedule. I had gotten overnight shipping, and he only ships things with insurance. I believe it was sent through ?USPS?, and it was delivered on time.

Final Comments

Since he is showing definite changes in his ways and business practices and has offered compensation and complete transparency moving forward, I would definitely say he’s worth a second chance when he opens up again. His work and ideas are 100% worth the trust, and I literally could not be any happier with a suit in my life.

• Pros: absolutely brilliant and well-versed in his craft, endless creative ideas, truly cares for his work, everything is lined or finished, the craftsmanship is mind boggling, very sweet and sincere, open to making sure his customers are happy if he’s done wrong (offering compensation, discounts, etc), accepts full responsibility and doesn’t give excuses, is very transparent on where he’s at on your commission, super patient with first-timers commissioning him, actually cares about his image and those affected and is fixing everything to the best of his ability.
• Cons: you need to be upfront/vocal and can’t be passive whatsoever (which I feel isn’t really a con and something you should just do regardless, but you can’t be quiet and have to ask for updates/deadlines sometimes, he encourages pushiness), does not do deadlines/is bad at meeting them (timeliness is probably the only real con tbh), bites off more than he can chew (but is showing signs of fixing this next commission opening, as he isn’t opening for more to continue the cycle and is selling personal suits/etc to stick to this promise).

I would definitely work with him again, and have plans to do so when he reopens. I would definitely recommend him to anybody who has a character that would fit his style if they have the patience to do so (but he is actively working on this part, so it shouldn’t even be a worry moving forward).

Overall, he’s definitely not a bad guy: who would purposely put themselves in this situation and actually enjoy being stuck in an endless cycle of never being caught up– life sucks, and he’s busting his ass off to fix past mistakes. I fully support him and believe he is capable of becoming a wonderful businessman again, and I will continue to stand by his side while he works through this. His ideas and work is too good to go to waste, and everybody deserves a second chance. He puts the “art” in “heart”. If I were to do it again, I still would have picked him; I cannot picture my suit being done by anybody else. Plus, more and more makers are coming out with similar backlog issues, explaining that expecting a year is industry standard now… so, honestly, for the price and the time waited, it was all worth it. His craftsmanship is remarkable and the love and care he puts into his work shows. I refuse to let a talent like this be ruined by life being life. He’s a beautiful soul who loves his work and cares for those who commission him, and even tries to befriend them in the end to keep connected to everybody like a “family.” He’s actually thanked me for just wearing my suit and doing things in it– that alone shows his pride and love for his creations.

And the final piece, the gummy shark prop, is probably one of my favorite plush props. The mixed media of fabric make it different from any other plush props, it making it more true to the design of a gummy shark. It’s sized perfectly to be a prop for my suit, and is durable and well-crafted. I am waiting on my last prop, but figured it wouldn’t affect this review due to it not being a major piece of my suit, simply a fun add-on prop.
