Type of Commission
(EX partial, fullsuit, head, etc)
How satisfied are you with the fit of the head?
Is it too tight or loose? Does anything poke you, stab you, make it uncomfortable to wear? Is it Lined comfortably?
The head is a nice in between with loose and tight. There is enough space that it doesn’t feel pressing, nor is it massively loose. The lining is comfy as well but one small issue is a dab of dried hot glue that pokes at my nose if my balaclava slips but I dont want to cut at it incase.
How satisfied are you with the vision?
Can you see well in front of you? Is there a large blind spot? Do you have to turn your head to see? (Note that most suits do not have peripheral vision)
As far as I can tell my vision is fine. An issue however is that when I commissioned the suit I said no glasses space as though I need glasses for vision I planned on getting contacts. However when I finally got contacts the head was constructed and I discovered I am allergic to the solution and cannot wear them. However, my vision is similar to my vision without my glasses with a faint green tint. However, take this section with caution that I cannot give a full fair review.
How satisfied are you with the ventilation?
Can you breathe well? Is the mask stuffy? Does the air circulate through your head?
I can breath very well via the mouth and the air coming in through the eyes. Due to the space air gets around well and I rarely feel overheated in the head.
How satisfied are you with the symmetry of the head?
Are the eyes or ears lopsided? Are the markings symmetrical per character design?
Eyes are symmetrical and there is no differences noticeable on either side of the head.
Is the Shaving even?
Can you see the backing? Is it choppy? Is the transition to long fur what you were looking for?
The long fur to short for looks really good and especially the raised center of the face which stands on its own with no need for and hairspray like products.
How satisfied are you with the expression and overall appearance of the head?
The expression is very cute without being creepy which I find impressive with minimal mouth to work with as the beak is faithful to the small appearance of a barn owls beak.
Hands and Feet
How satisfied are you with the fit of the hands and feet?
Will your wrists/ankles show is you stretch too much? Do they stay on your hands or do they slide off? Can you put them on comfortably with ease?
The feet fit perfectly the shoes I sent (some pumps) not being squished at all so they fit well. The wings also fit as there is an arm slot in them my arms fit in.
How satisfied are you with the quality of the hands and feet?
Has anything come undone or fallen apart? Have any pawpads or claws fallen off?
The wings are huge and plush as I asked and the feet fit wonderfully. A range of stitches are used so little shows on the fleece and the few that do I can account for as children standing on them.
How satisfied are you with the quality of your tail?
Is it too cumbersome? Can you pull on it without tearing? Are the straps secure and even?
The tail has a nice weight to it and it bounces well as I move. It is attached to the suit sewn into it so it will not fall off.
How accurate to your concept art is your tail?
Did they get all the markings? Are the colors accurate?
The concept was for a flat coloured tail with brown on the top and white under. This is maintained.
How satisfied are you with the quality of your wings?
Are they too cumbersome? Can you pull on them without tearing? Are the straps secure and even?
The wings are attached to the arms and have snaps at the end that allow me to have my hands out while in suit.
How satisfied are you with the ease of wearing your wings?
Do they fall off? Do you require someone else to put them on for you? Do they weigh you down?
I can put the wings on easily and due to the snaps I can dress myself easily and I can close the snaps afterwards. The weight does get really noticeable in time but again this was made clear to me.
How satisfied are you with how closely the suit matched the concept art?
If there was none, please state N/A
How satisfied are you with the consistency of your suit to the makers style?
The suit fits in to the style well and people have been able to name the marker from the suit itself.
How satisfied are you with the overall quality?
Are all the seams durable? Has anything fallen apart? Are there any holes?
The seams are durable, but it came with a few small holes where the machine got close to the edge of the fabric which I have since patched up and they have not spread further.
How satisfied are you with how well everything fits together and matches up?
Do you markings match up at the seams? Are the colors consistent?
the head matches the body well being the only one with markings to follow on.
How satisfied are you with how easy it was to initially contact the maker for a quote?
Did they take an unreasonably long time to respond?
Snow Gryphon announces quotes in one batch and got back to me in a day. A day after a pre announced closing day I received an email regarding the slot.
How satisfied are you with the response time from the maker?
The response time was fast and prompt almost always being within the day and when the builder was not able to respond were announced on their facebook twitter and FA.
How satisfied are you with the level of professionalism and friendliness of the maker?
Were they pleasant to work with?
They were very professional with their information and prices but they were willing to interact in a more causal way about other conversations.
Were any deadlines missed or was it done early?
Very happy. The deadline request was before Confuzzled ’15 on the 22 of may and it arrived 1st of april.
How satisfied are you with the overall quality of your project?
The quality is wonderful and it has held up almost a year on from the initial completion.
How satisfied are you with the overall customer service with the maker?
Very satisfied with both the during commission service and post commission with care help and other information easily given.
Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, or any Final Comments
Pros: Very cute style. Wonderful for an uncommon design. Good quality fur and build. Communication easy and many WIP images sent of every stage.
Cons: Small holes present (2 that I have noted).
Please pick a score that you feel honestly reflects your commissioning experience as a whole. Including the quality of your product, the appearance and how you were treated by the maker.
A~ I am planning on returning to this maker for my next suit and after a long enough time I will add a critique of that suit too.
