Did the maker meet your deadline?
Yes; I needed the suit before Ichibancon, which was in late December 2016, and the suit arrived on December 21st.
Did you tell the maker about any issues you had?
Yes; initially, the maker forgot about the character’s ear tufts, which she immediately fixed upon my request. Also, there was a misunderstanding about the character’s design; the originally provided reference sheet did not properly reflect the design on the character’s tail. However, when asked if she could add the missing stripe on top of the tail, she happily made the fix.
How many hours have you worn/used the item(s) you’re reviewing?
Give your best estimate.
The head fits me perfectly and is snug enough that most of my movements are not muffled by the head. The fursuit’s eyes are pretty close to my own eyes, causing my eyelashes to often rub against the buckram, but that might just be because I have long eyelashes. Also, I tend to have a red spot on my nose after wearing the head for an extended period of time (say, 5 hours) as well as a little bit of pain, but nothing major. Ventilation is amazing, the mouth is more than large enough to allow me to breathe properly (I can even fit a water bottle through it). Due to the eyes being completely white, the vision is okay; I do have to get pretty up close to things to discern details, and I usually end up looking through one eye at a time.
The eyes are ever so slightly asymetrical, but absolutely nothing major. Markings are spot on, and the shaving job is one of the best I’ve seen. The maker decided to dry brush along some of the markings to make them blend more easily, and everything is smooth and professional. Eyes are slightly follow-me, but that was to be expected from a character featuring entirely white eyes.
The horns are a bit longer than I expected them to be, since I made them look a bit nubby on the reference sheet, but these will be altered in the future, mostly because I wanted vinyl horns instead (the current horns are regular fleece). I’ve been pretty rough with them, and so have other people when interacting with the suit, and they’ve heald up pretty well so far.
The body is absolutely amazing. I can very easily come in and out of the suit, yet it still fits my body pretty well. I’ve been pretty rough with the suit so far during outings, running, jumping up and down, etc., and it’s held up pretty nicely. Pulling the suit inside-out hasn’t made any seams pop so far, and everything is lined pretty nicely.
I am absolutely in love with the look of the bodysuit. The padding is very prominent and looks really impressive, which is exactly what I was going for. The front area features really nice shaving. Markings all look very nice and match the concept art perfectly. The elbows and hocks feature longer fur, and the shaving on them is really smooth.
The hands and feet are very comfortable. The fleece cuffs of the hands do have to be turned outside in so as to not have them show when I’m moving around, since the armsleeves are slightly too short to cover them up. The feet do tend to slide off a tad bit, but nothing a few pairs of socks/a pair of slippers can’t fix. Considering the amount of physical exercise I’ve done with the suit, I’m suprised with how well the hands and feet have held up.
The padding for the hands and feet is stunning, and I’ve gotten quite a few compliments about the hands in particular. I love how the fingers and most of the feet have also been shaved, which give them a much nicer appearance than if the maker had left the fur intact. Paw pads are vinyl and look very nice, albeit they do tend to get dirty easily (which didn’t surprise me considering the fabric used for them). The soles of the feet are regular EVA foam.
The tail is sewn into the bodysuit, with internal straps to allow it to better rest on my butt, and a zipper to remove the padding for washing. The tail did seem like it was missing a bit of padding, so I went ahead and picked some more at Jo-Ann’s. Also, the tail has a weird habit of constantly bending/curling in one direction, but we think that might just be because it was packed in an awkward way when being shipped; it’s quite easy to fix this by removing the stuffing then putting it back in the right position.
Tail looks amazing and was exactly what I expected. I love the way it rests on my lower side, and the bounce is quite nice. The tail stands up pretty straight, which is exactly the look I was going for. Markings are all spot on after the minor fix I asked the maker to do.
The inner zipper to access the interior stuffing is very durable and hasn’t broken yet. It doesn’t feel uncomfortable while wearing the suit.
How satisfied are you with how closely the suit matches the concept art?
If there was no concept art, please state N/A
The suit is an almost exact replica of the reference I provided. I requested the ears to sit in a particular position on top of the head, and it came out looking great.
How satisfied are you with how well everything fits together and matches up?
Do you markings match up at the seams? Are the colors consistent?
The colours are very vibrant and match the concept art very closely. I’m very pleased with the way the markings turned out.
How satisfied are you with how easy it was to initially contact the maker for a quote?
Maker initially replied to my quote request within a day of me submitting it.
How satisfied are you with the response time from the maker?
How long did it take them to respond?
Maker usually replied within a day of me sending her messages. This only changed while she was away on vacation and while she was going through personal problems; however, she still took the time to reply to me.
How satisfied are you with how the deadline was met for completion of your project?
Were any deadlines missed or was it done early?
Construction of the suit was delayed in November, however she managed to move around some of her projects to allow her to finish my suit in time for the convention. She finished the suit in early December.
How satisfied are you with the overall quality of your project?
The suit is overall extremely professional looking, and plenty of people have pointed out how high quality it looks. I’m extremely pleased with it.
How satisfied are you with the overall customer service and professionalism of the maker?
I’m very satisfied with the customer service provided by the maker. She made me feel like we were just two friends talking to each other.
Describe your experience. What were the pros and cons of working with this maker? And any final comments?
I would definitely recommend this maker, since they appear to be pretty new in the business. Customer service is absolutely one of their top strengths, and the quality of their suits is absolutely phenomenal.
