It fits great! I asked the maker to make the head a bit roomier to fit my glasses, and while I can fit them under there, it’s a really tight fit, so I tend not to wear my glasses under my suit. Fortunately I haven’t been anywhere where my poor eyesight is a hindrance, but I think in the future I’ll get contacts so I can see more easily in suit.
I’m not sure if the inside of the head is lined? There is a soft black material on the inside that I think is lining that feels pretty nice against my face so that’s pretty neat. The beak is hollow so I can open it up to breathe and drink from, too.
Vision’s superb from my perspective! My character has large irises that the maker added into the suit, so I have a pretty large field of view from them. I have a very small blind spot between them too so looking through the head is really not an issue.
I love my head! It looks just like my character with the maker’s flair added in, like her each cheek fluff and her huge ears.
As far as asymmetry, you can’t tell from the pics and I’m not sure anyone in person notices this, but the beak is lopsided at the end of it in the front toward the right side. I think it’s more noticeable if you don’t stop to look at it, but it’s not something I’m really complaining about.
Same goes for the brown markings around the eyes; on the left there’s a very small (less than a half inch) spot where the brown doesn’t meet, but again it isn’t noticeable unless you really look.
The fursuit head matches my concept art just perfect, nothing to complain about here (To note, she is a gryphon, a lion-vulture hybrid).
I adore the eyes, because the maker made them exactly how I drew them on my ref sheet, down to the shape of the irises and the shape of the shine in her eye.
But my favorite part overall is the mane, which is completely attached to the head. I asked for it to be very full and fluffy, and it’s extremely soft to the touch, AND it’s stuffed with polyfill so it feels like a pillow! I get a ton of compliments from people who touch it for the first time. My mane is bigger and fluffier than most of the manes on lion fursuits I’ve seen!
The body fits very nicely and is easy to put on! However, as I am very, very skinny and very short (5 foot 1) the suit tends to bunch up in the arms and legs because there’s not enough to fill it out. It might also be just SLIGHTLY big, so I’m thinking I’ll get it altered in the future, but for now it fits pretty great! I’ve run, crawled and climbed on things and all the seams are perfectly intact.
The inside of the suit is the reverse side of the fur swatches, so if my skin is exposed it feels itchy underneath, but I always wear my under armor nowadays (unlike when I first got it) so this isn’t an issue.
If I stand right in front of a large fan I can feel the air come straight through my suit and it is AMAZING.
As far as symmetry goes there’s a seam that sits a bit weird on the inside of my left leg but that’s being super nitpicky!
As for the actual appearance of the bodysuit it’s perfect and matches my character just right. It has a hidden zipper down the front that makes it easy to get in and out of, too. I only slightly wish that I could have had the longer fur around the ankles like on my concept art, but I think the length of the type of fur itself is what kept this from happening. Nevertheless, put together the suit looks really great!
The brown used for the main body is a different shade than how I drew it on the concept art but I love this color, it’s a very rich, soft brown. The brown used for the mane and ventral is also very soft and long, and the colors chosen for them also look very good and complement each other well!
Okay so first, I want to mention that I have very tiny baby hands and the maker makes everything big, so my hands fit well and I have a ton of space inside each digit. I can fit two fingers into one finger of my four-digit paws very easily (it blew me away how easily they slid on when I first tried them) and they don’t slip off while I’m in suit either.
My feet are outdoor feet with rubber soles and they’re made of this very soft fleece material with something plush on the inside that makes them look very cute and squishable. I’m not sure what kind of shoe base the feet have, but they are lined and are about the same size as my feet (my left fits tighter than my right but it doesn’t affect me much while I’m playing and running around). The feet were made according to my own shoe size.
Both my hands and feet look pretty great as far as symmetry and shaving goes, no complaints here.
The fur on my hands is very soft and even! (They do not have pawpads at my own request, so they are just fur sewn together).
But I love the feet the most, because of the fleece material and because of how plush they are! The shape is just so round and cute, I love wearing them. I’m slightly paranoid that my claws are going to come off but after wearing my suit and running around in it so much, I’m positive that it would take a lot to remove the claws from my feet. They’re actually plush too and I do believe they are sewn in. I can also sit cross-legged in them easily despite the talon shape and that is something I was very slightly concerned about not being able to do so this is also pretty nice!
My tail is wonderful. It attaches via belt loop and it’s sewn together sturdily. If you pull on it it retains its shape. The whole tail as well as the tip is stuffed and squishable and it’s overall very well built. Nice weight, too!
The tail is curved into an S-shape and because of its weight it may twist a bit when I’m wearing it, but it doesn’t look bad at all and whenever I take it off it pops right back into its natural shape. I think that’s really cool.
Because my character’s tail is a lion tail, I didn’t expect it to be so HUGE when I pulled it out of the box! My hands are JUST large enough to fit completely around the girth of the tail; that’s how thick it is. I requested to have the tail to not be S-shaped like it is in the pictures, but I’m glad the maker decided to do it anyway because it is a feline tail which pretty much needs this shape anyhow and it’s very long so it doesn’t drag on the ground, even though I’m very short.
The shaving is very even, the fur is soft, especially on the tail tip where it is very long and fluffy.
How satisfied are you with how closely the suit matches the concept art?
If there was no concept art, please state N/A
It matches my concept art perfectly! The only thing is that longer fur around the ankles that I talked about but it’s not a big deal at all.
How satisfied are you with how well everything fits together and matches up?
Do you markings match up at the seams? Are the colors consistent?
Everything fits together just right!
How satisfied are you with how easy it was to initially contact the maker for a quote?
Very easy! That’s Furred Up opened on a specific date then contacted me a week after opening as she stated she would on her Twitter page. Got a pretty quick response back from her as well when I was accepted into her queue.
How satisfied are you with the response time from the maker?
How long did it take them to respond?
It never took more than a day or two for her to respond, if I recall, and sometimes I’d get a response back from her that same day. She was very easy to get in touch with.
How satisfied are you with how the deadline was met for completion of your project?
Were any deadlines missed or was it done early?
There wasn’t any sort of deadline, I was just very patient!
How satisfied are you with the overall quality of your project?
I’m super satisfied with my fursuit, I’m very glad I made this investment after wanting one for so long and I chose a great maker for this project!
How satisfied are you with the overall customer service and professionalism of the maker?
Very satisfied, the maker was very friendly and informative. She kept me up-to-date on progress frequently, allowed me to choose from several swatches for fur, and answered any questions I had succinctly and easily.
Describe your experience. What were the pros and cons of working with this maker? And any final comments?
Overall, my experience working with That’s Furred Up was just amazing. When I was first given my quote I was allowed to pay the deposit (I had most of the payment ready by then), and then I was allowed to wait till later to pay off the rest of the suit, which took about four months. I paid the rest in full, but TFU might also take payment plans. Not sure about those work, but she does work with you on this as well if you can’t pay everything up front, which is really nice!
I chose this maker specifically because I loved the style, and loved that she was able and willing to tackle new features and species she’d never or seldom worked with before. Looking at other suits she’d made I noticed that she would make suits in her own style but also include touches that the owner of the character noted on their own concept art, which resulted in my suit looking JUST like my character and went out of her way to add in details, like how I draw my character’s eyes, into the suit. No two of That’s Furred Up suits ever look the same, and the style is not cookie-cutter at all.
Other things to note is that That’s Furred Up’s suits are very comfy, cute and affordable for the pricing! She is very kind and professional, and I don’t think there are any cons to working with this maker, personally.
