Date of Review
Reviewed on the other fursuit review account in October 2013, but I’ve worn it more since then to review my fursuit head further.
Do you currently still own the item(s) you’re reviewing?
Price Sold For
If you have sold the suit/parts since this review, how much did you sell for? Put N/A if not sold or leave blank if you decline to say.
Did the maker meet your deadline?
They do not take deadlines, but I asked if it would be done by Mother’s Day 2014 and I was told yes and it was finished a week or two after.
Did you tell the maker about any issues you had?
How many hours have you worn/used the item(s) you’re reviewing?
Give your best estimate.
Probably about a month’s (2 months at most) worth of hours altogether. I live in Las Vegas; it’s hot and there aren’t many meet ups and I don’t attend many conventions because I am full time college student and also work part time.
Do you have any prior experience with fursuits?
Yes, I have seen and handled profressional made fursuits before commissioning this fursuit head and I have made fursuits in the past as well.
The following questions ask how satisfied you are with each feature of the head of the fursuit.
How satisfied are you with the fit of the head?
Is it too tight or loose? Does anything poke you, stab you, make it uncomfortable to wear? Is it lined comfortably?
I was SO scared of my head being too small on me since that is a common issue with some heads, I had given Wildpup my measurements, so I didn’t worry as much. It’s a BIT snug, but it’s not uncomfortable at all! It just makes me feel secure that my head won’t fall off or anything. I do wish it was a bit looser though.
How is the ventilation?
Can you breathe well? Is the mask stuffy? Does the air circulate through your head?
The muzzle isn’t hollowed out, so it can get quite stuffy fast. Meeting other fursuiters whose heads were also made by Wildpup at FC 2015, I grew more upset with the ventilation. A head that was made before mine and a head made a few months after mine had muzzles that were hollowed out and they were able to breathe fine and not get stuffy too quickly. I find it upsetting that my muzzle was not hollowed out, I assumed fursuit makers do this for all clients. I eventually had a local friend help me hollow it out some, it helps just a tiny bit, but it’s still stuffy. I’ve had numerous people try on my head and they ask me how I’m able to breathe because there is such a thick block of foam that is the muzzle.
Out of 10, (10 being the best) I give it a 5.
How is the vision?
Can you see well in front of you? Is there a large blind spot? Do you have to turn your head to see? (Note: most suits do not have peripheral vision)
Vision is great! I’m very thankful for that! I can see things just fine! Besides the blind spot most fursuit heads have, it’s very good.
How is the symmetry?
Are the eyes or ears lopsided? Are the markings symmetrical per character design?
Is the shaving even?
Can you see the backing? Is it choppy? Is the transition to long fur what you were looking for?
The shaving is nice. Very clean and smooth. Some areas could be improved upon, such as the muzzle and around the eyes. I had a local friend help me shave the muzzle down some because it always made me look like a schnauzer.
How satisfied are you with the expression and overall appearance of the head?
The expression is great! Not too cutesy and excited and not grumpy, it fits me perfectly. (:
I do really like my head, but there were some things I am picky about and would have appreciated some consultation before things where done.
My beauty mark, it is air brushed. I did not want any airbrusing at all on my fursuit head, I was hoping they would have sewn in the marking and was disappointed to see it was not.
The original material for the nose has been replaced since I got my head. I assume it is some type of thin pleather.
About a month after I got it, it started peeling. Please note, I got it in May, and in Las Vegas, it’s already well over 100F. So I didn’t wear it much besides the monthly local meet for June. I sent a DM over Twitter to Wildpup about it and I was told that was happening because it was too hot, but oddly enough I was not offered repairs. I dealed with it until it got worse and ended up replacing it with a fleece nose that works much better.
The teeth…many people have pointed out to me. It seems like they are those fake vampire teeth that are just filed down. I’m not sure if they are, but so many people that have seen my suit in person up close have told me that’s what they are. If that’s the case, it’s a bit upsetting.
I know it seems like I have a lot of complaints, but I this is just things I have observed long enough that I feel need to be said! I do like my fursuit head, but some things could have been executed a bit better!
The following questions ask how satisfied you are with each feature of the ears, especially if they are seperate from the fursuit head.
How is the quality of the ears? Are you satisfied with the materials used?
Are they too cumbersome? Can you pull on them without tearing? Are they even on your head?
Although my ears aren’t seperate from my fursuit head, I wanted to comment on them.
I think it’s important to tell a maker if you want static ears or not! Mine are very much static. While durable, I do wish they flopped a little bit so I could be a bit more animated, but they are sturdy which is good!
The material for the inner pink of the ears, feels like fleece that was painted over and if you look closey, it really seems like white fleece that was air brushed pink. Kind of a shame.
How easy is it to wear your ears?
Do they fall off? Are they painful to clip on? Do you require someone else to put them on for you?
The following questions ask how satisfied you are with visual aspects associated with the fursuit.
How satisfied are you with how closely the suit matches the concept art?
If there was no concept art, please state N/A
The hair on my fursuit, while I love it because it came out wonderful and not many people can pull it off, I wish I was asked about it.
It doesn’t match what was on my reference sheet. On my concept I had a hair floof/tuft, which I was fine with. They did most things without consulting me or asking me what I wanted and I really would’ve appreaciated that.
Otherwise, everything looks right and matches my concept!
How satisfied are you with how well everything fits together and matches up?
Do you markings match up at the seams? Are the colors consistent?
Eveything looks good and has handled up pretty well since I got it!
The following questions ask how satisfied you are with all the aspects of communication between you and the maker.
How satisfied are you with how easy it was to initially contact the maker for a quote?
As soon as I saw an opening for commissions, I sent them an email with my concept and received a quote right away and went through with the commission after confirming they took payments.
How satisfied are you with the response time from the maker?
How long did it take them to respond?
They always responded within the day, if not, within a day, so that was great!
How satisfied are you with the level of professionalism and friendliness of the maker?
Were they pleasant to work with?
Most times I felt I was bothering them. While they were always profressional and seemed either friendly or just neutral half the time, I just always felt I was annoying them with every message I sent (which wasn’t alot to begin with).
The following questions ask how satisfied you are with your overall experience with the maker and the fursuit itself.
How satisfied are you with how the deadline was met for completion of your project?
Were any deadlines missed or was it done early?
Like I mentioned in the beginning, they don’t accept deadlined work. But I asked out of curiousity if they thought it would be finished before Mother’s Day 2014 and they said yes. I only asked this because they didn’t have that much on their queue then. I was a bit bummed that it was practically 90% done when the event I wanted it for finally came around, but there wasn’t much I could say since it was mostly done. I ended up getting it at the end of May.
How satisfied are you with the overall quality of your project?
Overall, I like my fursuit head. Sure, I have some complaints, but it’s not enough to make me hate my suit. It’s adorable, I get a lot of compliments and my non-furry friends and family like it too and that means alot!
How satisfied are you with the overall customer service with the maker?
It was good for the most part, like I said there were times I felt I was a bother, but overall it was what I expected.
Describe your experience. What were the pros and cons of working with this maker? And any final comments?
Pros, their style is very nice overall and most materials and methods they use are the same as other profressional fursuit makers. (:
Con; not being consulated about some details the wait time. I didn’t wait as long as I did with my feetpaws (that will be another review), but I know fursuit heads could be finished in a shorter amount of time.
