Relationship With Maker

The maker is NOT a friend

Prior Experience

Informed Maker of Issues

No, at the point I finally got my suit after not hearing any updates for months at a time and waiting a month after he said he shipped it I was tired of dealing with him.

Wear Time

Less than 24 hours, it’s very hard to wear as he put no ventilation in it and me trying to get in there to put my own in hasn’t helped any.

NO – MULTIPLE deadlines passed
No, I’d like to go into detail to that too. I originally planned to tend YoumaCon 2016 and then cancelled my plans. He told me up front he could definitely have it done by then (YoumaCon is in November 2016), if not earlier because it would take probably 2 months to finish (he told me July at one point). Then after telling him of canceling my plans and that he had a little more time he dropped off the face of the Earth with updates, I had to hunt down his tumblr account to get any correspondence.

Character Concept Art

I no longer have the ref I drew specifically for this head, but I have my normal ref (the difference being the eyes aren’t showing)

HeadGives information about the head of the costume. If reviewing a set of ears, the answers would also go in this section.

Wear Satisfaction How satisfying this piece is to wear with regard to comfort, fit, material quality, etc.

The head is a little bit loose, there’s an elastic band inside that’s supposed to hold it down better but it slips off too easily.

As mentioned in my hours thing, there was no ventilation. From what I know about fursuits from friends, usually in foam heads the wall behind the muzzle is cut out to allow air to flow in, this was not the case, I tried to cut out the excess foam myself because it was almost impossible to wear and had trouble doing so.

Vision is…not good. My character is a goat, and therefor has small pupils. I was expecting the maker to make a wider area of vision in the eyes because of this, and he did not.

Appearance Satisfaction How satisfying this piece is to look at with regard to material quality, design, how closely it matches the concept, etc.

Symmetry is fine, and the head is made of seal fur so I can’t make any comments on the shaving. The fur itself is perfectly fine, and I have no problems with it.

I’m unsatisfied with the expression. My character’s signature is I always draw him with a wide grin, and the ref I shared with my maker reflected that. What I got was a blank face with no real expression at all.

He didn’t seem to match the concept art very well, as what I sent was similar to the ref linked and again, only difference being the eyes were visible. It doesn’t match, the horns are too small, and he never put the ear piercings and nose ring that my character has in the suit. After being told he was waiting on putting them in to ship it to me.

Initial Contact

The initial contact went great, but everything went downhill after that.

Maker Response Time

TERRIBLE. VERY VERY disatisfied! He was there for about a week or two in the beginning stages and then would disappear for months at a time without telling me with no updates. At one point stopped responding to my emails at all and I had to message him on tumblr to get a response.

Maker Professionalism

How satisfied are you with the overall customer service and professionalism of the maker?
No. He was nice but his customer service was terrible.

Project Completion Time

How satisfied are you with how the deadline was met for completion of your project?
Were any deadlines missed or was it done early?
No, he told me it would be done in two months, I got it a year later incomplete after having to hunt him down for it.

Final Comments

Pros- very nice, responsive to the quote
Cons- pretty much everything else. As I keep saying, the initial payment was made in April, predicted to be completed by July but I told him as long as he got it by November it would be fine. He did not meet either deadline, I had to ask him for updates, in December sent me images of the final product saying he had to put in the nose ring and ear piercings and he’d ship it off, contacted him once again in February to ask why it hadn’t been shipped yet, told me he would ship it out the next day, and didn’t receive it. Had to hunt down his tumblr and contact him a month later to ask why it wasn’t shipped and I finally got it in the mail. Without piercings, the thing I was supposedly waiting on for it to ship.
