HeadGives information about the head of the costume. If reviewing a set of ears, the answers would also go in this section.
Super awesome! The head is built on a ball cap and carved foam and plush stuffing to shape. Big eye balls to view out of and the mouth is totally hollow which makes for excellent ventilation! It is super easy to use a straw to stay hydrated. Teeth are hand sculpted and the tongue is also plush fabric.
I had to add some magnets at the jaw to help connect the head to the neck scutes. This is a pop the top style head, so the neck scutes are intentionally not sewn into the jaw. Just needed a few more to help hide my head from small people looking up at me. It’s perfect now!
It’s so dang cute. It makes everyone smile! She also sent it with a fake flower so that people would know it’s a girl.
It’s very symmetrical. Foam is very sturdy with a bit of give for forgiving storage and transport.
Slight airbrushing to help blend fabrics, so only a couple spots are slightly crunchy. She took a brush to it really well so it looks awesome.
Eyes are static and mesh.
Best feature is that the head flips up easily so I don’t have to remove the head to take a breather and cool off. One less thing to have to carry!
Also it has a fan!
The back of the head “zips” up with magnets!
BodyGives information about the main body of the costume. If reviewing a separate set of pants/legs or torso, the answers would also go in this section.
Slightly tight on the arms. Fabric has some give which helps with movement and weight shifts. I had to make a collar of fabric for this to help hide the gaps at the neck when I bent over.
Scutes hide the front zipper. Some magnets help keep the scutes touching across the zipper and hide it fantastically!
Some machine sewn seams needed reinforcing. This suit is intended for volunteering with the local reptile society. I went through and sewed a blanket stitch everywhere. This thing is going to last forever now!
Not lined, had quite a few threads that needed trimming.
This suit I am told should be hot!!! The back is 3-4 layers of minky fabric thick. But I managed a 13 hour day fully in suit quite well. I’m incredibly heat tolerant, my body is meant for this!
The scales actually something called pebble fur. It’s perfect for lizard skin. The back armor and thorns are all made by Beastcub. Holy cow sewing madness and it is so rare to see this level of plating sewn.
Based from the concept art some simplification was needed. I am very happy with the outcome and it represents the art well.
I dislike where the scutes from the arms and legs start. They are at my knees and elbows which make it a point of stress that has had to be repaired. Ideally a jagged edge verses a straight line would have been artistically best.
Hands and FeetGives information about the hands and/or feet of the costume.
Hands match the suit perfectly, used the same fabric as the body. Comes with resin claws. Very dexterous for communicating.
Hands are long in the fingers and the thumb is set farther toward the wrist than is ideal for my hands. If I could get them made again, I probably would. It literally is the only part of this suit that doesn’t fit comfortably.
Feet are made on a pair of sneakers I provided. This is fantastic. I can wear these forever!! Resin claws, airbrushing, and the same fabric as used on the the body.
From the outside everything looks great and completes the suit.
TailsGives information about any tails the costume may have.
Sewn into the body, supported by a belt. It looks like it should be heavy, but it’s just poly-fill. I love wearing this and never noticed the additional weight.
This thing actually articulates!! Each row is a segment and the seams create a happy accident where they are jointed. Super fantastic swing and wiggle while I walk. It’s only poly fill in there, so the articulation is awe inspiring.
Some simplification of the concept art was needed. I am very happy with the result.

This toony lizard has brought me so much joy

After a few tweaks and reinforcing, this suit is honesty incredible! It’s durable, puts up with tons of interaction with kids, it’s come out the the washing machine 6 times now and EVERYTHING is still holding strong. I loved this suit so much I hired her for another one!
