Review Video

Here is my 3 part fursuit review of the fursuit for you all to see; please note, this review was made fairly shortly after I received the suit and since then the body suit has become more and more unwearable as well as the handpaws (I got a friend to remake them for me!)

Head is extremely lightweight and comfy! It has a strap in the back to secure it tightly to your head. It can be a little hard to reach though (especially when getting out of the fursuit) . The inside is lined with very nice fabric, and the ventilation is great especially with the moving jaw! Vision is also great! The only pet peeve of the head is that the inside of the head wasn’t properly shaved and cleaned before sending it out- which makes it very itchy since there is a lot of loose fur strands in there. It makes wearing it for long periods of time very difficult.

Appearance Satisfaction How satisfying this piece is to look at with regard to material quality, design, how closely it matches the concept, etc.

Adore the appearance immensely, no shaving issues with the outside of the head.

Special Attachments and Features Information about any special or unique features this piece has with regard to the reviewer's satisfaction of them.

Moving jaw was originally not requested, but it was added in without my permission. I don’t know how I feel about the moving jaw as it can be hard to use at time but I believe it’s just because I’m used to static jaws. He did forget to add Atlas’s plugs in his ears though which had to be rushed made the day before he sent it out (I’m not upset with the quality of the plugs though!). I am unsure of the heads durability as of yet, but the lightweight of it definitely is a plus

BodyGives information about the main body of the costume. If reviewing a separate set of pants/legs or torso, the answers would also go in this section.

Wear Satisfaction How satisfying this piece is to wear with regard to comfort, fit, material quality, etc.

The crotch of the body goes down to my knees and is extremely uncomfortable. I have to pull it up to actually match my crotch which then makes it wrinkle in the chest and also short around the ankles. I squatted once when I first got the suit and heard a pop. There were some loose strands in the body. Note; I did provide both a DTD and measurements of my body to ensure accuracy. I am a pretty ‘box-like’ body shape so I’m a little.. confused to why the body did not fit me properly. The legs and arms also do not properly reach my ankles/wrists- I have very limited movement in it. I originally informed him I wanted the suit to dance in but I can hardly walk in it (even after many stretching exercises)

There was also a HUGE hole in the back for the tail, which was unnecessarily big, I have sewn it up though to be a more appropriate size.

Appearance Satisfaction How satisfying this piece is to look at with regard to material quality, design, how closely it matches the concept, etc.

Awful, originally he sent me wips of the body and nothing was shaved down. I then requested it to be shaven down on the arms and legs (since it was super fuzzy) and the job he did was… horrible. Super choppy shaving- he shaved on the light brown areas which was tipped fur so you can clearly see it was shaven incorrectly. Even the longer fur that I had requested to be shaven was shaven shorter then the short pile fur and it just is a choppy mess. I take mild ownership in this as I provided all of the fur and sent it to him (mind you, costed be around 300$~ which he reimbursed me for) and I’m unsure if he’s ever worked with fur of this this type before or if it was just extremely rushed. If he felt uncomfortable shaving it he should’ve told me that instead of absolutely butchering the suit.

All of the fur is symmetrical and high quality- but the god awful shaving job ruined it for me. I eventually will have to spend another 800$+ on a bodysuit since this one is awful. I’m embarrassed to wear it out- and always have to wear a t-shirt overtop to cover up the wrinkles.

Hands and FeetGives information about the hands and/or feet of the costume.

Wear Satisfaction How satisfying this piece is to wear with regard to comfort, fit, material quality, etc.

Hands are lined and are semi comfy- the fingers are foam and are pretty hard. I ended up commissioning a friend of mine to make me a new set of handpaws since these ones felt like I was wearing bricks.

The feet paws however are EXTREMELY comfy! I love them a lot and they are built on a foam base. The inside is lined making it very easy to slip on and off while keeping them light weight.

Appearance Satisfaction How satisfying this piece is to look at with regard to material quality, design, how closely it matches the concept, etc.

Hand paws look low quality- the spots on the handpaws are painted on and are starting to smear over time. Even after throwing them into the wash- they still remain messy and smeared. I wish he would’ve taken the time to handsew them (I even offered to pay him extra for the time) but he did the easy route by painting them on. The paw pads also weren’t stuffed to give them an actual paw like look, they’re just foam on fur.

Love the feetpaws, super cute and small, goes very well with the rest of the suit!

TailsGives information about any tails the costume may have.

Wear Satisfaction How satisfying this piece is to wear with regard to comfort, fit, material quality, etc.

I had originally asked for a tail that is smaller then a tail I currently own- and I received a large brick. It is foam core, weighs probably 2x as much as the head and when worn is bulky and could probably knock out a child if I turned too quickly. I wore it once, and since then plan on scrapping it to be made into a new tail.

Appearance Satisfaction How satisfying this piece is to look at with regard to material quality, design, how closely it matches the concept, etc.

You can tell he put little to no effort into the sewing process as the tail is just bands of different colour. Shaving on the tail is also awful, extremely choppy and super noticeable.

How was your concept art realized?

The fursuit matches my design well, but there are major areas that could’ve used some more effort to make it really look like my suit and to show that hard work was put into it.

How well does everything fit together and match up?

As a partial it looks great! But the awful bodysuit makes it look like the suit went through a cheese grater. As mentioned prior the bodysuit does not fit me at all. I didn’t expect the quality of shaving from a fursuit maker who has made multiple suits before. My partner who is a dog groomer had to go in and correct all of the shaving to the best of his abilities (some areas are unfixable though)

Overall Project Quality

I’m neutral in all honesty, the experience I had with Furry Machine gave me A LOT of anxiety, and worried me a lot that I would not see my suit or I would have to wait longer then a year when originally it was promised to be delivered within 8 months. I love the head and the feetpaws- I personally should’ve stuck with getting a partial done since I most likely will have to get the body refurbished or completely remade due to the poor shaving job and the most expensive part of the suit not fitting me at all. I do believe it was worth the price I paid after all of the discounts and reimbursement Furry Machine gave me for my wait/time, but it definitely was not worth the anxiety.

Purchase Process Details the interactions between the customer/reviewer and the maker of the item with regard to the buying process.

Initial Contact

Very easy, contacted over email in April of 2017 and was given a quote as well as an estimated opening time for slots. I then re-emailed him on the day of his slots opening and was immediately given a slot

Maker Response Time

Originally started via email and then moved to telegram. He is very easy to get a hold of and responds very quickly. However, his responses were usually things I didn’t want to hear or excuses for delays.

Maker Professionalism

He was professional, but lacked major communication skills. He did not send me any wips other then the head base to the degree that I had to message him bi weekly to ask about the fursuits progress. I was never asked if I wanted something to be a certain way, and a lot of the things that I had originally requested when I first commissioned him in June of 2017 went overlooked. I consistently told him to keep me updated on the progress which he failed to do.

Project Completion Time

Very upset, I had originally commissioned him for a partial due ~December 2017 and was going to get a friend of mine to make the body in order to have the fullsuit done for Anthro New England in February. Things fell through with my friend so I had asked furry machine if he was willing to upgrade my partial into a fullsuit. He said that wasn’t a problem, and I had asked him if it was at all possible to have it done for ANE (and I told him if it wasn’t that’s okay, just let me know) he said that wouldn’t be any problem so I went ahead with waiting. December came around and he still hadn’t started my fursuit and I messaged him to confirm he would be able to get the suit done for late February (I was very polite and told him again that all he has to do is tell me and it’s okay, I just didn’t want to get my hopes up for nothing)- he then agreed that he would for sure be able to do this. Another month passed and I messaged him again in January asking about the ETA and he then again- told me February would be fine. From the period I had commissioned him and then the initial due date I had only received a wip of the head foam base. The due date passed and I sent him a message after the con and informed him that he should’ve been honest with my from the beginning that the suit would not be done in time. He apologized, and said there were some personal issues. I left it at that and then began messaging him every over week to receive updates on the suit. The biggest slap in the face though was another commissioner had contacted him about getting their suit at the top of the queue (ahead of mine) to get it done for a convention. Furry machine then asked everyone if this would be okay- to of course I responded to him privately no, because I had originally had a deadline that you missed so I’m not waiting any longer for my suit so someone else can have their finished on their deadline.

Overall it was a mess, but when he actually finished my suit it arrived extremely quickly and furry machine covered the cost of shipping which I was happy with. I received Tracking and the item arrived through Canada Post without any customs cost attached to it (which tbh is unheard of with fursuits!)

Final Comments

Furry Machine is an extremely nice person, and he is EXTREMELY talented. I have spoken with him after I have received my commission about all of these issues, and I know he will grow from this and learn from his mistakes. I would recommend him to people who have a specific style in mind, and aren’t afraid of fursuit makers (since telling someone who has thousands of dollars of your money, and is making your fursuit that your not happy with your service can be EXTREMELY anxiety inducing). Just remember you are the customer, and they are providing you with a service so you are allowed to critique their work or tell them what you want/don’t want. If you’re unhappy with something PLEASE speak up! I wish he had offered to fix my suit after I had told him about all of the problems I had- but he simply responded with “I apologize, I’ll do better next time” but that doesn’t do anything for me, the money I’ now have to spend again to get his mistakes fixed etc-. I expected more out of this experience, and it will definitely discourage me from commissioning fursuits again in the future ://
