HeadGives information about the head of the costume. If reviewing a set of ears, the answers would also go in this section.
The head fits perfectly on me, which is impressive considering I have lots of hair, the air flow is pretty good for what it is though does get stuffy after 15 minutes without taking it off. The eyesight is not that great with a blind spot dead ahead and I usually need to turn to look at things but is to be expected. There is a balaclava sewn/glued into the head as well which is nice, though it looks like it was cut a bit weirdly and has parts of it somewhat peeling off.
She’s gorgeous, the mane on her is perfect and shows dedication and skill. The sewing is solid too. I love the tongue and teeth, and the holes in the nose for nose rings is nice as well However there is a small bald spot in the corner of her left eye towards the muzzle which isn’t that visible until you get close, and I believe the foam in one of the ears is broken and the ear sags a bit because of it. The style is awesome with great follow me eyes. The design of Alina was almost perfectly followed and Darkmoon Silver Creations really brought her to life!
Hands and FeetGives information about the hands and/or feet of the costume.
The hands fit well and are comfortable having one paw pad slightly bigger than the rest to fit two fingers. I have had to repair these a bunch especially in between the fingers.
For the feet, they are also super comfy and are plenty big enough for my size. Somehow they feel super roomy yet don’t slip off my feet at all. They are a bit bulky to walk around in and it is extremely hard to walk up stairs. The bottom of the feet is foam since they are outdoors. I haven’t had to do any repairs on these babies.
Both the hands and feet look symmetrical, and match the design perfectly. The handpaws are pretty simple by design but the shaving on them is well done. On the feet the shaving is great as well even between the multiple color switches. Really everything about them looks great except for the claws, which don’t all face the right way and tend to flop around but that is likely due to them being fleece.
TailsGives information about any tails the costume may have.
I want to give my maker full credit, Alina’s tail is *extremely* complicated. The more complicated the design, the more errors get made. This was the most unsatisfying part of the commission. With all of the different pieces needing to be sewn, after pretty much every wear I can see near the tip of the tail the thread being pulled apart and the stuffing shows. This is most likely due to the wire. My maker offers to “Add wire through the tail to allow for it to be curved and could be positioned to not touch the ground or curled for an extra 25$” which I did However, this is easily the worst part of the tail. The wire does not keep the tail from dragging or help with positioning at all. Instead it makes the tail bulky and it will make it bend at odd angles anywhere along the tail. The tail is hard to move because of this and feels like a weight dragging. The fur also tends to twist around it. I would highly NOT recommend the wire at least for floor dragging tails and I am probably going to remove it at some point. Otherwise, it fits well with two big loops to attach a belt to and the shape of the tail itself is great.
With how freaking complicated her tail is, they did a great job trying to accomplish the full design. Especially near the base of the tail looks amazing. The suit is long fur but my maker told me that the design would be more clear with short fur on the tail and asked me if I wanted them to shave it. I said yes and they did a great job with the base of the tail having long fur and quickly becoming short fur. However, the farther towards the tip of the tail you get, the fur becomes weird with random unshaven fur spots and the black zipper parts have weird edges. I think because of the wire the tail is a bit under stuffed so right where the tail tip attaches to the rest of the tail it isn’t stuffed at all giving a slightly deflated look. Looking from above the tail looks good, it’s really the bottom of the tail that starts to look choppy.
I don’t know where this was supposed to go but I also purchased armsleeves from my maker. The armsleeves look and feel really nice, the maker had me take several measurements to make sure it fits just right. The design on them is perfect. When I did my first wash I did find a pin in one of them so that wasn’t cool. All of the fur direction is right and the elastic to connect them isn’t that uncomfortable.
OverallHow satisfied the reviewer is with the overall buying experience, including their interactions with the maker and the resulting final product.
My maker was respectful, willing to do a challenging part and is an extremely skilled maker. They have improved so much in such a short amount of time and they did an awesome job with Alina. I’d highly recommend them to anyone, especially people with lion fursonas. I don’t recommend getting wire in the tail, at least if you have a floor dragger. They clearly care for their work and it shows. The suit isn’t perfect but I think Darkmoon did it better than anyone else could have, I love it!
