HeadGives information about the head of the costume. If reviewing a set of ears, the answers would also go in this section.
My head just fit the size range, so it was quite a snug fit. The wiring in the head can get slightly annoying, but all I have to do is move the battery pack until it sits right. This is also only when I’m sitting still for too long.
The eyes have a great range. I have no blind spot facing forward, and my side vision is quite good compared to what I expected.
The vents hidden in the head are a huge help, both with hearing and with not heating up too quickly.
The moving jaw is outstanding, even when I talk normally there is still a bit of movement, and I’ve found I can have a lot of fun with expressions and antics using it. The makers are also extremely helpful if we have any issues, such as the elastics wearing down or the jaw becoming dislocated.
The shaving of the fur is fantastic, the hair fluff on the top is so fun to style and his marking are on point with the photos shown online. The ear holes and little horns only add to the uniqueness and character. The white fur on the face is shaped skull-like when compared to the black fur, which builds on the scary part of the character. The fur also can glow under black lights which makes raves and parties more interesting.
The eyes are follow-me, and it’s really funny because in every situation he always an a scowl, an angry look, or an evil smile. The eyes being follow-me allow for many different angles for photos that give a variety of results.
The teeth in the bottom jaw are also cool, as small fangs were placed to give him an extra dose of spooky.
The eyes light up with orange LEDs that have three different modes: solid, slowly flashing and quickly flashing. I have to be careful how long I keep each mode on, as turning the eyes on heats up the head much quicker, and I could become dizzy from the flashing lights so close to my eyes. Nevertheless, it is an added cool feature that I wouldn’t change for anything.
The battery pack is kept in a packet near the back of the head, and can easily be found by feeling around on the outside. This makes it so I don’t have to keep taking the head off and pulling out the battery pack to switch the eye lights.
I have been informed that the type of lights used for my eyes are no longer being used by Thunderhowl, so if they break by means other than the battery running out, I’ll either have to deal or send it back to Thunderhowl to see what they can do. This is no problem however, since that just requires taking care of the head.
Hands and FeetGives information about the hands and/or feet of the costume.
The hand paws are very plushy, four fingers, and don’t over a lot of dexterity. Picking up things usually require two hands, and sometimes the signals I make with my hands are hard to make out. None of these are a problem though.I enjoy having the plushy paws since they make fursuiting extremely fun. The foam in the paw pads makes it so that I can be a bit more wild in fursuit without hurting anyone, which I think is amazing.
The insides don’t scratch my hands and keeps my hands warm and snug. Moving my hands in and out of the handpaws requires little to no effort.
It is required that you wear a jacket that goes down to your wrists to cover any skin, and certain gloves in the paws to deal with sweat, but other than that, amazing quality.
The fur is super soft and quite easy to brush when it gets matted. The fur on the fingers and palm are shaved more than the back and wrist area of the paws, but this is so the fur doesn’t overwhelm the claws or pawpads.
The claws are at the end of each finger for visual appeal, and they really add to the spooky aspect of the character. They are also made of some soft material, so they can’t actually harm anyone.
The paws are a solid color of orange, giving it a simple and nice look. The paw pads are a black color, adding to the cute simplicity of the handpaws.
TailsGives information about any tails the costume may have.
The tail is extremely light, bouncy and easy to wear. Since it is a partial, the tail has two loops at the top that you have to loop into a belt, and they put the belt on so that the tail sits at the back.
When moving around, the tail easily swings around and the tail loops hold firm on the belt. It doesn’t take much movement to get the tail swinging, which I love in a fursuit.
The tail can be warped or scrunched up into a ball and still spring back to its original shape.
The design of the tail is fantastic, with three different color furs running down in a stripe pattern that wraps around the tail. The fur was put on beautifully and is pleasant to look at.
It also has a curved shape to it, which is different then your usual wolf or fox tail and something I adore.
The fur is even all around and look amazing, whether it is brushed or poofed out.
The area where the loops are sticks out a bit, as the only way to cover it up is to push a hoodie over it and it doesn’t always stay there, and the tail hands down, thus leaving the white part open. It’s only a minor inconvenience, however, as the tail hanging down is preferred.
OverallHow satisfied the reviewer is with the overall buying experience, including their interactions with the maker and the resulting final product.
Nothing looks loose or out of place, and all the pieces come together to create one spooky hound. For something Thunderhowl usually doesn’t do, they did great!
Aiko did a lot of work on this boy and he knocked it out of the park and should be very proud! ❤️
He may not have started as my character, but I’ll treasure Hallow just as much as my own sona and will be keeping him indefinitely
