HeadGives information about the head of the costume. If reviewing a set of ears, the answers would also go in this section.

Wear Satisfaction How satisfying this piece is to wear with regard to comfort, fit, material quality, etc.

I am very satisfied with how the head fits. The fitting it not loose where it shifts and it is not too tight where it is uncomfortable. The head is able to be positioned where I would like it. The head is lined with a thin black balaclava which absorbs sweat appropriately while I am wearing another balaclava under it. This sort of material makes it very easy for me to spray the interior with an alcohol spray and keep it clean. There has been an issue where that balaclava has started to pop its seams and even lose connection to the fur it was supposed to be connected to.

The ventilation is wonderful and the amount of airflow for breathing and for around my head allows me for longer periods of wear without overheating. The front of the head doesn’t have much airflow, but the back of the head allows for the ability to even feel a subtle breeze.

The vision is better than I have heard from other’s suits. I can’t see directly in front of me due to the size of the muzzle, but I have a decent amount of peripheral vision. Vertical vision is a challenge however, and things that are chest height when up close are impossible to see unless I tilt the head. Both eyes can not see one object at the same time, and I need to tilt my head to one side or the other to get a clear look at something.

Appearance Satisfaction How satisfying this piece is to look at with regard to material quality, design, how closely it matches the concept, etc.

The suit is very symmetrical from an outside point of view. The head has no significant difference from either side. The markings are symmetrical and match exactly to the character’s design.

The shaving for the most part is even. There are some portions on the head around the top when the fur has been cut too short and one could potentially see the layer which holds the fur together. The transition between the fur types is what I hoped for. The shaving between two colors was even where it needed to be such as on the cheeks or ears.

The fur is very soft and is the main source of a lot of individuals being really excited about getting close to the suit. The only marking that is airbrushed on is on the lip of the muzzle, and after multiple sprays with alcohol spray and even some carpet cleaning the marking is still visible after all this time. The fur is able to be easily brushed and smoothed and does not get tangled easily.

I am satisfied with the head and its expression. The expression is mostly happy from most angles, which is what I wanted. There is not many varied expressions from angles unless I rest the chin on objects to get a different mouth formation. The eyes are follow-me eyes.

The artist improved on the concept art and made the head more accurate to the shape of the reference and the actual animal.

Hands and FeetGives information about the hands and/or feet of the costume.

Wear Satisfaction How satisfying this piece is to wear with regard to comfort, fit, material quality, etc.

The paws are comfortable to wear and allow me to grab medium sized objects which has been helpful with props to go with the outfit. The paws are very soft and comfortable to wear and allow for good movement since they are more like gloves and do not have an arm sleeve portion. My wrists do not show if I wear a long enough shirt to accompany the paws. They are very easy to put on and if I want to they can be equally as easy to throw off of my hands. The paws have been very durable after the initial repair of the paw pad almost falling off. There has been some issues with the seams between the digits popping off with use but it could easily be repaired with some simple sewing.

The feet paws are not as comfortable to wear and are probably the part of the outfit that is least worn. The source of the discomfort comes in the hard base that is used to keep the foot shape, I have had to modify the inside multiple times to stop parts from digging into my skin at the top of the foot. In terms of walking it is fine and I don’t feel as though my foot is going to get a hole through the bottom. My ankles do not show if I stretch too much since there is some added fur to wrap around the lower leg. The feet can be put on easily and are secure on the foot, and are easy to take off as well. The feet seem very durable and the bottom padding has survived many walks on rocks. The seam between the hard pad and the fur on the bottom of the foot has come off slightly but could easily be fixed with hot glue. The shoe base is some hard plastic which makes it very easy to clean with alcohol spray or even just a paper towel.

Appearance Satisfaction How satisfying this piece is to look at with regard to material quality, design, how closely it matches the concept, etc.

The paws are very symmetrical and match the character’s design. The shaving is even and there is a nice transition between the longer fur on the middle paw concealing the seam with the shorter fur on the digits. The fur is very soft and very easy to be brushed with a wire brush. I am very satisfied with the colors and materials used for the paw. Especially on the wrist which is a completely different lining which has kept the paw together. However, that lining is a bright red color which doesn’t match anything else so I have to tuck it in so it isn’t that obvious for photos. The paws match the reference art.

The feet paws are symmetrical and match the character’s design. The shaving is even and I have not had an issue with seeing the backing. The fur is very soft and easily brushed. The colors and placement of the markings where exactly how I wanted them. They do not match the reference art since they are just so huge.

TailsGives information about any tails the costume may have.

Wear Satisfaction How satisfying this piece is to wear with regard to comfort, fit, material quality, etc.

I am absolutely ecstatic about the tail and it is very comfortable to wear since it only attaches to a belt so it is quick to attach. That sort of connection allows for amazing movement like wagging the tail back and forth and even to just wrap it around objects or just to hold.
The seams are very durable and I have yet to ever need to repair the tail. I can move without popping any seams or ripping out any straps. The tail can be pulled somewhat hard without tearing, since I have never seen it tear I am uncertain at what point it would. There is lots of padding throughout the entire tail without making the tail heavy, it can be squished without losing its shape.

Appearance Satisfaction How satisfying this piece is to look at with regard to material quality, design, how closely it matches the concept, etc.

The tail is symmetrical and matches the character design. The shaving is even and one can’t see the backing. The fur is very soft. I am satisfied with the selection of colors and material used and acts how I hoped. The tail matches the concept art.

OverallHow satisfied the reviewer is with the overall buying experience, including their interactions with the maker and the resulting final product.

Product Satisfaction How satisfied the reviewer is with the overall look and feel of the costume in its entirety.

How was your concept art realized?

The maker required a reference sheet with multiple angles which I already had and was glad to accept any other images I had to be more specific with what I was wanting. The maker did not alter any of the patterns or markings. However they did alter the shape of the head by increasing the size of the muzzle and changing its shape. The maker did go over these changes and I did ask them to shorten the muzzle from their first foam designs but still it was a little longer than I hoped. I was satisfied with how well the concept matched the final product, especially since I was able to choose the fur so I knew exactly what material was going in to the suit.

How well does everything fit together and match up?

All the markings keep the correct shape and the colors are consistent between the same material on a different section. Since it is a partial there is gaps in the costume. There are no parts that are baggier than others. The costume looks more smoothed out and polished than there previous work at the time I commissioned them.

Overall Project Quality

The project exceeded my expectations, the maker was so new that I knew it was risky, but I have never been happier to have taken that risk. The price was worth what I paid in the product, but exceeded in value due to the community this maker has made for all their commissioners. All the pieces work together when worn together and are excellent for custom outfits. The items have lasted me for 2 years so far, and as long as I maintain them I expect then to last longer than that.

Purchase Process Details the interactions between the customer/reviewer and the maker of the item with regard to the buying process.

Initial Contact

I found out about this maker on FurryAmino when they were advertising themselves as a maker. They were easy to message and get a quote from them. Since they were so new there was a delay on them setting up their PayPal account, but after that is was very easy. It was easy to know what measurements the maker needed and even clarified what some of the measurements were.

Maker Response Time

The maker was very quick to get back to me, and they didn’t switch contact methods throughout the transaction. There was an issue where the maker stopped sending Work in Progress updates when they started to fur the parts which made me weary of how the product would come out in the end.

Maker Professionalism

I was treated extremely well especially for one of their early commissioners. The maker was very pleasant to work with and was very personable. They treated me like a friend when it came to lighter topics but when it came down to important parts they were very business-like. They were very clear about what they were working on at the beginning but there was a gap near the end. There was no excuses needed on the work.

Project Completion Time

I was very aware that I was their only project at the time of me commissioning them. The expectations were left in the dark and I never gave them a specific completion date. The maker also never explicitly gave an end date but with the constant updates I was certain it would not have been long, and with a month of turn around I could not ask for anything better. The item was shipped in time but the sheer size of the box confused the delivery and I had to pick it up from a warehouse to retrieve the package. The service used was UPS and I was extremely satisfied with that choice due to their clear and accurate tracking information.

Final Comments

The pros of working with this maker is they were very clear about their work schedule at the time of working on the project, additionally the maker was very fast at completing the project, also the maker is very kind and likes supporting the suits they make through social media or just talking with the commissioners after the fact.
The only con I can think of is their update of Work in Progresses was inconsistent throughout the whole process.
I would definitely work with the maker again especially as they continue to try to improve their techniques and try more species to push their abilities. I would definitely recommend them to my friends and have when they asked. The recommendation comes from the fact that they make it clear they are willing to change things if you find something unsatisfactory and they value your happiness in the work they are doing.
