I have never worn a fursuit before Alexis, so I had no concept of how I would feel wearing a fursuit. My problem was that I was in Switzerland, my maker in the UK and due to my workload I was unable to go across for a final fitting. I now know that a final fitting is mandatory and I should have made time. So I missed out and my fursuit arrived 4 days before I took it to a furcon.
At Furcation2019 I was very excited to finally get to wear the suit and was pleased to know that my fursuit fitted well and all the pain of making the DTD (it took over 3.5 hours to make, yeah I had a very careful friend! The leg cramps later were horrible…) seemed to be totally worth it. There were a few niggles, but these would have been sorted out if I had had the time for the final fitting. So overall I was very happy and the reaction to the suit was very pleasing.
Since November last year I have changed my opinion on how the suit should look, softened the appearance and had a number of mods made
– hand paws made into more like gauntlets, ie with a wrist and lower arm covering
– added cheek fluff and a between the ears tuft
– added new nose fan to increase airflow
– opened the jaw permanently to also increase airflow and he looks a bit friendlier too 🙂
– extended the length of the mane around the base of the head
– had the whole of the fur on the back of the head replaced with longer fur
– removed the inbuilt digi padding and had it sewn into the legs of the compression suit
– built up the ankle material of the foot paws & reinforced to resemble boots
– after changing the foot paws, then removed the lowest part of the digi padding as it wasn’t needed.
I might have even gone a whole month now without requesting a tweak to him 🙂 Awesome…
After 30+ hours of wearing Alexis, I can happily say that I need to wear a coolvest less and am very pleased with how he appears.
All I need to do now is to find a furcon to take him to 🙂
Definitely satisfied, I think several of the mods I’ve had made (taking advice from Mipsy, we’ve had many conversations over my mods) have softened his appearance and made him more attractive and approachable. I have done several public fursuit walks in Switzerland in the past and I believe he’ll be much better received now. All credit to Mipsy for the execution of the mods.
Fursuit is now 80% realistic, I’ve had mods made to soften his appearance.
SPOTS….. 🙂 over a 150+ sewn in spots in addition to those airbrushed on.
Alexis isn’t a typical snow leopard, he’s a summer markings snow leopard, snow leopards adopt a peachy colour in spring and summer. So Alexis has a sprayed on peachy colour to his fur too.
Alexis has five fingered, very floofy hand paw (gauntlets) with that mod that means they extend 3-4 inches beyond the wrist.
BodyGives information about the main body of the costume. If reviewing a separate set of pants/legs or torso, the answers would also go in this section.
Great satisfaction. Fursuiting is so much gets easier as you do more of it. Plus I had some changes made to the digi padding (Mipsy also upgraded her body suit zip used) which makes putting on the body suit and taking it off a much quicker and easier affair.
From the number of compliments and requests for my maker’s business card, I can say that his appearance is of an expertly and skilfully made fursuit.
On my last fursuit walk in December 2019 in Bern, I got told off for holding up the walk because I was getting too many requests for furhugs with photos from the public and I’m not very good at turning furhugs down. A right compliment for the maker 🙂
No special attachments.
Hands and FeetGives information about the hands and/or feet of the costume.
My hand paws are definitely my favourite part of my suit, great floofing instruments… so many photos…
My hand paws are even famous, my fursuit appeared on Danish National evening news on the last evening of NFC2020 (24th Feb 2020), the background shot (whilst the news presenter is describing NFC 2020 in Malmö) is of my hand paws reaching for the Danish News photographer 🙂
Happy with my footpaws, easy to wear, good at insulating my feet against the cold and great for polishing wooden floors 🙂
I love my floofy hand paws, they look lovely.
My footpaws match my suit perfectly.
TailsGives information about any tails the costume may have.
Well my Tail is floofy, bushy, soft and light like a real snow leopard’s tail, but thankfully not quite as long as I think it might get stepped on or trapped in a lift door.
I must say that after you’ve been wearing it for a few hours, then un-suit, you find yourself with ghost tail wag feelings.
Oh the joys of being a floof 🙂
Floofy and cuddly, very well received and attracts it’s own fair share of compliments.
OverallHow satisfied the reviewer is with the overall buying experience, including their interactions with the maker and the resulting final product.
OK, everything works really well and I continue to get lots of compliments on the suit.
I think the maker could charge more for her creations given the time, love and effort input. However given the status of her commissioning order book, her current pricing structure is obviously the right choice. I have had quite a number of additional modifications made, which I have received at a bit of a customer’s discount, so I am both pleased and very grateful for these.
Being more forthright with Mipsy will pay dividends. She is willing to take criticism and offer suggestions to adjust, amend and improve. A very honest and impartial viewpoint which her patrons approve of and seeing as her commission book extends well into the future, this professionalism obviously serves her well.
Tracking was a bit nerve-wracking, but I need not have worried, the suit arrived within the guaranteed European delivery time. The maker monitored the delivery and tracking process for me.
Rating
I spent about 3 months researching fursuit makers and styles, in the end only Mipsy was available as a UK based fursuit maker who was willing to consider making a Realistic fursuit. Realistic fursuit makers are still quite rare, realistic fursuit makers who are not a) very expensive indeed and b) have incredibly few commission slots are even rarer. Very pleased to have found Mipsy to make my fursuit.
I am also pleased to note that the Furry Tailor Telegram group is one of the friendliest and warmest I have ever encountered. I have made some very close friends there, more like family in many ways, my furry family. I have been through some tough personal times recently and the support has been really appreciated. I know that I will never stop being a Furry and this is largely down to my Furry Tailor family & friends.
