I did not set a deadline, but I did mention that I would love to have it by Midwest Furfest (Dec 1st). They absolutely blew away that soft deadline by almost a month! They were incredibly fast…

Note that this is most likely because I payed in full immediately which put me at the front of the queue.

HeadGives information about the head of the costume. If reviewing a set of ears, the answers would also go in this section.

Wear Satisfaction How satisfying this piece is to wear with regard to comfort, fit, material quality, etc.

The fit on the head is almost 100% perfect. It is quite snug and I have no fears of it moving around or falling off during my suiting antics. That being said, it’s pretty easy to get on and take off if needed. Basically fits like a motorcycle helmet.
It’s lined with some sort of fabric that is both comfortable to the skin as well as somewhat sweat wicking.
The only issue I’ve had is that I have to mush my nose into the foam with a little force to get the eye holes to sit right for my vision. But it’s close enough to perfect for me not to mind and the foam will probably loosen up over time to not require that a few months down the line.
The ventilation is pretty damn great considering the mouth doesn’t open much and there is no fan in it. I was able to suit for 2 hours followed by dancing for 3 and didn’t feel out of breath at all! Of course, you’re gonna get sweaty after a while, but that’s just expected…
The vision is exactly what you’d expect from a fursuit: bad. That being said, compared to other heads I’ve tried on since getting mine, mine has amazing vision! The vision is good enough to run and jump around without too much fear of missing something. The blind spot in the middle is roughly two fingers wide and does cause my eyes to go cross after a while… but once again, that’s to be expected.

Appearance Satisfaction How satisfying this piece is to look at with regard to material quality, design, how closely it matches the concept, etc.

The symmetry is not exactly perfect, but it’s so close to it that you’d have to stare at the head for a while to notice. This is to be expected with anything handmade though.
The shaving is really quite nice. It’s nice and short to give that fuzzy feeling while still showing off the expression of the face. The transition to the longer cheek tufts is quite well done, though I wish it was a little gentler.
There is a little tiny bit of glue showing on some seams, but it’s so minimal that I was able to gently remove it without any incident.
The fur on the head is very high quality and soft. The ear tufts are appropriately tuft-y, and the cheek ruffs are nice and long.
The expression on the head might be my favorite part. Looking straight on gives a cute look, at an angle playful, looking down is a bit looming and looking up is innocent. Despite the lack of movable eyebrows, it’s easy to pull off a large variety of expressions! The eyes are also follow-me eyes and are very well painted alongside pulling off the following eyes flawlessly. Absolutely wonderful for pictures.
It’s pretty close to the concept art. I would have liked a little more white in the cheeks, but it’s close enough not to be a huge deal.

BodyGives information about the main body of the costume. If reviewing a separate set of pants/legs or torso, the answers would also go in this section.

The body is very comfortable. It has plenty of space in the right areas to allow a totally full range of motions. I can touch my toes and do a cartwheel if I wanted to! Plus the stitching seems very heavy duty and clean, so I expect that popped seams will be at a minimum. To put it in perspective, I was running about, dancing, hugging, piling, etc. at MFF and not a single stitch even looked stressed afterwards.
The interior is not lined, though I wouldn’t want it to be due to heat reasons. Besides, I wear full Under Armour underneath, so it doesn’t need to be lined. It does have a nice velvety lining around the neck though that protects my neck from any sort of abrasion and irritation. Definitely a good idea that all suits should have. There are no marks on the inside and it looks quite clean.
Airflow is pretty good. If I go out, I can absolutely feel the wind slip through the fur. However, it is not an especially cool suit. Though that’s mostly my fault as I insisted on long, fluffy fur to fit my character.

If anything’s lopsided, I sure as heck can’t tell!
The shaving is very even with no backing showing. The transition from the long chest/neck fur to the shorter body fur is a tiny bit abrupt, but it’s almost unnoticeable unless you’re looking for it, so it’s no big deal.
The fur is incredibly soft and nice! They must have used some high quality stuff because even after being soaked in sweat and worn for 8 hours straight it still looked amazing! Furthermore, the fur is very easy to brush and the fur must be quality because not much comes out when brushed There is no airbrushing at all.
The colors are absolutely spot on. They somehow managed to find just the perfect shades of red, dark red, dark, steely blue, and creamy off-white. If anything, the blue was a bit more saturated than I expected, but it fits the ref sheet better and honestly I’ve fallen in love with it anyways!

Hands and FeetGives information about the hands and/or feet of the costume.

Wear Satisfaction How satisfying this piece is to wear with regard to comfort, fit, material quality, etc.

This is probably one of the only areas I was a tiny bit not satisfied with, though it was probably my fault. The hands are not lined, so I highly recommend some sort of liner gloves for comfort (I use mesh riding gloves). They are long enough that they do not show no mater how I stretch. The reason I’m a bit unsatisfied is because I didn’t think they’d be toony sized. So I didn’t get them padded seeing as I figured they’d be a little slimmer and easier to use. Well since they’re toony sized and have no padding, the dexterity is a bit lacking… Probably should have looked in on that, but oh well. On the bright side, the toony look does work better with the suit.
The quality is wonderful. The paw pads were able to handle an old, dry cork golf club for a couple hours without showing any signs of fatigue or damage! Furthermore, the seams, just like in the suit, are very robust and high quality. Also, the edges are lined with a soft material that hopefully will keep the hands in good condition and also prevent any irritation.

These are absolutely wonderful. They fit perfectly due to being built on shoes I sent in. Since they’re essentially shoes with wrappers on them, they’re comfortable and easy to walk in for multiple hours. Similar to the hands, they’re easily covered up by the body suit and I haven’t been able to make my ankles show yet no matter how I wiggle. They also line the edges for extra durability and comfort similar to the hands!
The quality is great as the foam is nicely sculpted and the fur is just as high quality as the body. It doesn’t look like anything is gonna fall apart any time soon seeing as I subjected these paws to the harsh Chicago winter sidewalks and they took ’em like a champ!

Appearance Satisfaction How satisfying this piece is to look at with regard to material quality, design, how closely it matches the concept, etc.

Seeing as both the hands and feet are the dark blue fur, symmetry was not an issue.
The shaving is nice, especially on the feet.
The fur is similarly as soft and nice as the rest of the body
All materials used seem to be nice quality!

TailsGives information about any tails the costume may have.

The tail fits fine and is quite comfortable. It fits through the back of the body suit and can be worn without the suit on. It just barely touches the ground and, if I could go back, I probably would have gotten it a bit shorter as to keep it cleaner.
The quality seems just as top notch as the rest of the suit. Nothing is showing any signs of damage or fatigue.
I’ve had people pull on it, step on it and it’s dragged behind me for hours. It has held up to all of it. The two straps are a thick nylon strapping that is heavily stitched.

All the markings are spot on and are symmetrical. There is no shaving on it, which is what I wanted as it maintains maximum poofiness.
The fur feels incredibly soft, same as the rest of the suit and works perfectly for the amount of poofiness I wanted.
The color was not exactly what I wanted. The tail was supposed to end in an lighter orange-red color, but all they had was a salmony off-white. But we discussed this and it really isn’t a big deal. I actually ended up liking the off-white used anyways.

OverallHow satisfied the reviewer is with the overall buying experience, including their interactions with the maker and the resulting final product.

Product Satisfaction How satisfied the reviewer is with the overall look and feel of the costume in its entirety.

How was your concept art realized?

The suit does not 100% match the concept art, but this is to be expected. Part of it is the fact that it’s a handmade object and the other is that the maker imbues some of their own personal style into it due to their predisposed methods or realistic restrictions.

How well does everything fit together and match up?

All the markings match up perfectly and there are no seam mismatches or color jumps.

Overall Project Quality

I am actually blown away at the quality. The fur is very durable and very soft, the head feels like it could function as a helmet without damage, and every stitch and seam has an air of professionalism.

Purchase Process Details the interactions between the customer/reviewer and the maker of the item with regard to the buying process.

Initial Contact

They opened up on Twitter and I sent in a quote request through their site. A couple days after their quote acceptance period ended, they notified me that I was accepted for a spot! It was quick, painless, and easy.

Maker Response Time

There were a couple of multi-day lapses in communication, but those were mostly due to them being in the craziness of finishing up other suits. For the most part they were quick to respond, usually getting back to me with in a few business days.

Maker Professionalism

This is really where Twinky Arts shines. From every email they send to actually meeting them in person, they really seem like they care about every suit they make. They get excited when you take the suit out for the first time, squee at pictures of you at conventions, and even make large efforts to make the Twinky Arts suiters into a sort of family.

Beyond this, the professionalism is clear and apparent. It shows that they don’t just treat this as some side-job but more as a passion.

Project Completion Time

There was not a hard deadline set, but I did mention I wanted it for MFF. They blew away my soft deadline request and it was on my doorstep almost a month before MFF!

Final Comments

This actually might be the only part that I have mixed feelings on. While commissioning them, there was a bit of trouble with the payments (put in the wrong amount for the invoice) and furthermore, they actually made a mistake on the handpaws (4 finger instead of the 5 I requested) which I thankfully noticed in a WIP picture before they sent them to me. They were very apologetic about that and made sure to fix them.

But besides these hiccups, they were incredibly receptive to any questions or concerns I had and made sure to voice any they had to me. There were plenty of WIP pics and it really felt like they included me in the construction process.

If I could recommend anything to them, I’d say to have a more robust system of tracking any special requests by commissioners. If not, you might end up sending 4 finger paws to someone expecting 5 fingers!
