Relationship With Maker
The maker was NOT a friend when the item was purchased, but they ARE a friend now

Prior Experience
Yes. I’ve built a few separate parts and have worn partials.

Informed Maker of Issues
Yes. Initially, the sleeves of the body suit were restrained in mobility due to tautness at armpit area, making arm raising difficult. The zipper running down center of suit was also easily caught in fur. Mochi was quick to fix both for free.

Wear Satisfaction

Inside of head lined with comfortable, soft fleece-like plaid, gray fabric which matches overall gray body well. The fabric keeps face cool. Fit is comfortable. However, mouth ventilation hole and eyes slightly too high and misaligned. Vision overall decent, can move around without any fursuit handler. Ventilation excellent as there’s no obstruction in mouth. Additional magnetic eyes I ordered also work just fine giving me a confident look.

Visual Satisfaction

I (he) came out very handsome. Longer pile, sleek fabric used as hair which was easily combed and stayed neat. Fabric trimmed to appropriate pile at cheeks. Shaving clean. Excellent eyes, professionally done. Snout and overall cheek shape came out to what I asked for. Neck fabric a bit short. Teeth are hand sculpted and detailed. Maker demonstrates attention to detail ensuring symmetry and proportions. Eyes static and eye expression can be changed with magnetic eyelids. Patterns sewn rather than airbrushed on.

Wear Satisfaction

It’s a standard fursuit with each major fabric component sewn together. However, unlike less diligent fursuit makers, Mochi sews patterns together making patterns far more durable. Stitching sturdy. Wear is overall comfortable, not too baggy and not too tight. It’s thin enough to outline the curves of body when worn instead of looking like a straight barrel. As with other fursuits, wear it with Under Armour Heat Gear.
Fursuit is machine washable.

Visual Satisfaction

Just like with head, body suit is made of durable high quality fur that doesn’t fall apart easily like the usual cheap fur that’s made in China. The furs were sourced from local textile shops in the Los Angeles garment district. Patterns well done and symmetrical. All fur slopes away and downward as it does in real life animals. Hole at posterior for belt for tail to go through.

There were initial problems with the zipper being easily caught in fur and the sleeves being immobilized by the fabric being too short in the armpit area making upward movements of arm difficult. The maker happily obliged to fix both issues for free.

Special Attachments and Features

The body suit contains 2 pockets built into the breast area to carry a phone, keys, hotel cards, and a wallet. It works pretty well and the zippers are well hidden. Though, there are concerns with the zipper getting caught in the fur which is problematic in many fursuits.

Hands and Feet

Wear Satisfaction

Handpaws: comfy, lined with same fleece plaid fabric as head, easy to move fingers around but not easy to pick up stuff as with many puffy style paws; despite rough handling of wrist are finger claws, everything is intact
Feetpaws: The inside is lined with the same plaid fabric as the head. Comfy! I can move around fairly easily in them and run.

Visual Satisfaction

Handpaws: Mochi labeled both handpaws with a professionally made tag for the left and right hands, claws on finger are sturdy, some type of durable resin not cheap, hand-sculpted clay
Feetpaws: Foam and fabric well sculpted to look like actual wolf paws. Fur fabric well trimmed and fur correctly points toward posterior and forward face of feet. Posterior of feet is short pile, anterior is long pile. The toe claws are also cast from durable resin. Like handpaws, Mochi attaches professionally made tags labelling each feet for the left and right feet. Sole of feet consists of paw pads glued to bottom. No problem so far after cutting a rug in them to some swing and big band.

Wear Satisfaction

It’s stiff but squishy and droops down like a wolf tail. Works just fine when you supply your own belt that goes through some loops at the base of the tail. Can be worn as a partial or with fullsuit. The core is probably wire. Swings as you shake hips.

Visual Satisfaction

Excellent attention to detail with the patterns. The fur points downward toward the end of the tail as with real animals. Points for anatomical accuracy. Shaving is neat. Patterns are sewn together, not airbrushed on. Fabric quality excellent as with rest of suit.

Product Satisfaction

How was your concept art realized?
Compared to the crudely done ref sheet, Mochi exceeded expectations and made reality better than fiction by making the patterns smooth and symmetrical. The head and tail shapes are better than what is in the ref sheet.

How well does everything fit together and match up?
I’m really enjoying this suit. Despite sending in a crudely colored ref sheet (I couldn’t draw well then), Mochi exceeds expectations and works closely with her clients. It is also beneficial to the customer to respond promptly and provide as much detail as possible. I made things easier for the maker and myself by using hand drawn diagrams with measurements on them.
I did specify Straston be made in a slightly different style than what she usually does by providing many pics of other people’s suits and she got it down.
I did have problems as specified earlier with the body zipper and flexibility around arms but both issues were resolved quickly.
All coloring is consistent.

Overall Project Quality
Mochi exceeded expectations despite missing multiple deadlines. Her attention to detail, welcoming personality, good manners, and engineering made the wait all the worthwhile. It was worth the price since I ordered many things. The quality is durable and comfortable to wear as the materials used are of excellent quality.

Purchase Process

Initial Contact
fairly easy, she responded promptly after I sent in the application through her website. Mochi specifies on her website what she needs from you. I found out about her from the website directory Getfursu.it

Maker Response Time
fairly satisfied, she answered promptly on same day or day afterward via email

Maker Professionalism
Excellent professionalism with a great show of a traditionally feminine, affable personality. Because of her friendliness, it feels like talking with an old friend and I enjoyed shooting the breeze with her on general topics in our personal lives. She does her best with customer satisfaction and it’s shown in her concerns for her clients. She’s contacted me many times giving her own suggestions and demonstrating an eye for detail and quality materials. Her cheerful, amiable personality made customer service excellent.

Project Completion Time
There was a queue of 5 people ahead of me. I did set multiple deadlines that I felt were reasonable. I first set MFF 2019 as a deadline (7 months ahead of when deposit was made). Then I set a deadline for a trip to Alabama a month later. After that, I asked for a completion in time for Texas Furry Fiesta in late February 2020. All 3 deadlines were missed. However, in all instances, the maker only strived to reach those timelines but made no solid promises. She unexpectedly moved out of her original southern California location to Portland Oregon in late 2019 adding quite a delay. Fursuit was finally finished in July and shipped out with a tracking number and insurance provided. She shipped by USPS.

This means the reviewer would recommend Creative Mochi.

Final Comments
Overall, I would give Creative Mochi a 94/100. Her top points were her impeccable customer service, promptness in correcting issues, excellent communication, use and experience of construction materials, and comfort of fursuit design. Her main drawback is completion time. I can excuse her on this for her attention to detail given that great art has no time schedules. An artist must have the time to perfect the entire piece. She also had to move out of California which I don’t blame her for due to the high cost of living, taxes, traffic, homelessness, pollution, and frequent mismanagement of taxpayer money. I myself moved back to my home state of North Carolina to flee these issues.
Mochi will offer her own professional decisions and give you options on how to move forward. If anything came up in the commission, she would notify you upfront, no shadiness.
Being an advocate for supporting lesser known makers, I highly recommend Creative Mochi.
If you have time to wait and want a high quality fursuit done at a competitive price, give Mochi a whirl.
