Character Concept Art Photos of Completed Product Head Wear Satisfaction I’ve tried a few fursuit heads on before and after receiving Thor’s head, and I have to say, the praise I’ve heard for SK heads as far as high vision and superb ventilation are completely true. The head fits my oversize (sz8) head beautifully, and I am able to wear glasses underneath without the slightest issue with fogging or discomfort. The fan in the muzzle is absolutely wonderful for ventilation and cooling. Friends were amazed to see my balaclava was basically dry when I popped my head in the fursuit lounge after over an hour at the TFF dances. I have excellent field and clarity of vision, and it’s comfortable for hours and hours of wear. I’m honestly spoiled by this head’s comfort, versatility, and durability– trying others on after this one only reinforced my feelings that I made the right choice in maker. I found one slight comfort issue in the jaw that required a small adjustment, and the maker did the fix on the spot at TFF. Visual Satisfaction SK did a wonderful job on his look, even down to giving him his iconic glasses. He’s made with follow-me eyes, and the effect is excellent. The happy panting expression is perfect, and I love his movable tongue (which was an added option.) The glasses mount ended up not working quite right, but that was no fault of the maker– someone on an escalator hit the snout and popped one side loose, so I’m in the process of coming up with a slightly more robust breakaway method. Coloring and patterning is excellent, and shaving is nice and even. The fur has a very nice soft feel, and brushes perfectly. Special Attachments and Features Thor has LEDs installed in the ears. The LED’s themselves are practically invisible until turned on– they are very well hidden in the fur, and one would have to look very hard up close to see them.. There is an upgraded control module for the system in a pouch on the neck flap, which has both sound-reactive and static/pattern modes, along with brightness control. The system works very well, and the LED vendor that SK uses (Made2Glow) is very responsive to any questions or concerns I’ve had. It feels very robust, and I have no concerns about durability. One power connection runs both the fan and LED system. Body Wear Satisfaction SK did a perfect job on fit for the bodysuit. I mentioned up front that I planned to use a cooling vest, and they made extra allowance for the particular brand I had in mind. I have an excellent range of motion, and it’s very very comfortable. Proportions are all perfect, and nothing feels tight or overly loose. The bodysuit also has two deep inside pockets on the chest for phone/wallet, and those have been extremely useful. The slots for the tail are thoroughly reinforced, and the suit seams feel extremely sturdy. I had a slight issue with the digitigrade padding in the legs sliding around the first event I wore the suit at, and SK took the bodysuit back with them and added pockets in the thighs to hold the padding completely in place and fix the issue. I was very very happy with the comfort level of the bodysuit– with the cooling vest, I am perfectly comfortable and can wear the suit for long stretches with only short breaks to change the cooling packs and hydrate myself. Visual Satisfaction Thor has two unique marks that stand out– his lightning bolts on the right arm and down the back. SK did an amazing job of getting a true jagged/bolt look in the contrasting color fur, and it looks and feels completely seamless. There even are small elbow ‘tufts’ sewn into the arms that give a more canine appearance, which is an amazing little detail touch. The fur is beautiful and soft, and brushes very well, being a medium long length. His leg padding gives an excellent digi shaping, both above and below the knee. Hands and Feet Wear Satisfaction The hands and feet fit very well. SK has a very unique foot style which I am very happy with– the footpaw itself does not have an integrated shoe, and instead goes over whatever shoe I choose. I like being able to remove the shoe for drying/cleaning, and was also able to pick one that is more comfortable for my feet. I actually can even wear boots in these footpaws if I want, which is very surprising. The footpaw holds onto the shoe very well, and I don’t feel like I will trip or have any concerns about losing my balance in suit. I’ve adjusted the footpaw mounting very slightly just to make the shoe fit slightly tighter/avoid heel lift, and that is to be expected since SK didn’t know exactly what shoe I would choose to use. The handpaws fit my large size hands very comfortably, and I have very good dexterity and motion. Visual Satisfaction The indoor paws and handpaws both use a dark gray sparkle vinyl for the pads, which is a signature detail of SK suits. I was surprised with a second pair of outdoor feet included at no extra cost by the maker, and they are built just as well as the indoor ones, but with a rubber foam base. The shaving of the feet and hands is very well done, and the shape of the toes is proportional/accurate. Tails Wear Satisfaction Thor’s tail is BIG…but he’s a big shep! (I’m almost 7′ tall in suit at the ear tips!) The tail mounting straps are extremely sturdy and double-sewn in, so I have no concerns about them pulling free from my belt. It has weight, but it’s not uncomfortable to wear. There’s a really good bobbing/wagging look when I walk. It’s definitely in proportion overall. Visual Satisfaction His tail also has the lightning bolt marking, and SK did an excellent job matching it to the back and arm bolts. It matches up to the back bolt perfectly and is completely smooth and seamless like the other markings. Overall Product Satisfaction How was your concept art realized? SK did a superb job on designing to the original refs provided. I consider it a very accurate rendition of the character, and am completely satisfied that this is Thor. How well does everything fit together and match up? I’m very very happy with how it looks when wearing the full suit. Everything looks great, the fur colors all match between parts, and it looks like it was made to fit me as the performer. The extra little detail touches like the elbow tufts and padding shaping make the suit look very realistic and high quality. I have had many positive comments on how well the lightning bolts were executed. SK even made his neck chain and padlock as part of the suit– the lock is 3D printed and covered in felt with the pawprint, and the plastic chain is breakaway-style for safety. It was just one more perfect little touch in making the suit truly accurate to the concept design. I am in the process of coming up with a better breakaway mount for his glasses — SK has helped with advice on how to install to the head and been interested in my thoughts of making something like this better in the future for other commissioners. Overall Project Quality I am very very satisfied with the suit. I feel I absolutely got my money’s worth, and the fact that SK stands behind their work with full warranty is even better. I don’t expect to need the warranty, but it’s very nice to know it’s there just in case something goes wrong. The durability of the head and suit seems to be very high, nothing feels fragile or that it needs to be handled with great care. Purchase Process Initial Contact I originally found this maker through a tail commission post on Twitter. I was very pleased with the custom tail they made for me at that time. They opened a couple of months later for fullsuit quotes, and I decided to see what it would take to make Thor real. I was very pleased with the price I received and SK’s communication, and went forward with the commission immediately. Maker Response Time SK’s communication is top-notch. They are easily available on Telegram both for public and private discussion, host a Telegram chat for SK Fursuit Family, and I have always received excellent service and response to any of my questions or concerns. Maker Professionalism SK is excellent as far as professionalism. I feel valued as a customer, and all our communication has been most friendly and clear. Any questions I had were answered immediately and in detail, even down to a full pictorial on how to do my DTD to their requirements, including suggestions for preferred brands of tape. I definitely do consider myself part of a suit family now, and have developed a friendship with Karma over the entire process of my commission. Project Completion Time Thor was finished in about 13 months. We didn’t set a firm completion date, but I was always informed throughout the entire process via Trello, the SK Telegram chat, or personal DMs. The wait time seemed perfectly fair and reasonable, and any changes to the ETA were always communicated to me clearly. I had a minor heart attack moment when the final package shipping got held up in the USPS system for over a week without updating, but that was completely beyond SK’s control. Rating FursuitReview rates by asking the question: Would you recommend this maker? YES This review has been marked with a positive rating. This means the reviewer would recommend Sparkle Kreations. Final Comments Overall, I couldn’t be happier with how Thor came to life thanks to Sparkle Kreations. He’s completely amazing and I’m more than pleased with the quality, fit, and appearance. They are wonderful to work with, willing to try new and interesting designs, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend their work to anyone looking for a smaller high-quality maker with excellent pricing and reasonable turnaround times. I plan to commission further fursuit parts from them as upgrades at their next opening, and a second suit of another character in the future as well. I am very proud that Thor is part of the Sparkle Kreations Family. Are you the maker of this item? Would you like to leave an official response? Click here.
