They announced on their socials that they were opening for quotes before their upcoming commission opening, I applied for one and received an answer with a quote very quickly! I initially reached out via email. Spareferret provided me with plenty of helpful information and diagrams so I could easily find out what measurements I needed for everything. They also provided a helpful video tutorial for making the DTD. Payment was done upfront through Square Maker CommunicationSpareferret's communication is VERY good, and they were an absolute joy to work it. He is polite, professional, friendly, and I always felt at ease talking with him. He answered my questions quickly, and provided me with plenty of information and options for my suit. I felt like I understood everything he was telling me and it really helped ease my mind during the construction process, as I was a little nervous since this is my first suit and I hadn't done anything like this before. We started via email, but switched to telegram shortly after for ease of communication. He provided me with many WIP pics, and asked for my input and opinion multiple times throughout the process, which was super nice to see and gave me peace of mind knowing that my maker knew what I wanted for the suit. Overall, the communication was absolutely fantastic. I felt informed at all times and confident with how my suit would turn out. Project Completion TimeMy suit was completed in around 9 months. Spareferret has both a trello and a telegram wip channel, so I was able to see my position in the queue and the status of my commission, ontop of the WIP pics in our DMs on telegram, so I always felt like I knew where my commission was at during the process. Spareferret communicated the project timelines very well, and there was only a slight delay due to one of the furs we needed being out of stock, but he quickly ordered it when it restocked and continued to work on other parts of the suit while we waited. This delay didn't cause us to miss any deadlines however, and was more an issue with the provider of the fur rather than Spareferret himself! I wanted the suit to be ready and shipped before MFF 2024, and it was done and in my hands by September, a whole 3 months before the deadline, which made me very happy! The shipping process went extremely smoothly. Spareferret shipped Eli to me in 2 separate boxes via USPS, and gave me tracking numbers for both, as well as helped keep an eye on the status of the delivery for me. The wait for the packages to arrive was very quick, with one of them actually arriving a couple days early! All the contents of the boxes arrived in good condition, and the boxes were sealed properly and professionally. Overall Project QualityOverall, I am extremely satisfied with Spareferret's work on Eli. The suit looks beautiful and feels great to wear, and the quality is excellent! Its breathable, comfortable, and feels fairly light for a fullsuit! The visibility and ventilation of the head are some of the best I've seen, with many of my experienced fursuiting friends who tried him on saying the same thing. I'm able to wear him for hours on end with no problems. The design was executed with precision and is very accurate to what I was envisioning for my suit. The expressions all look great, and I love how the eyes look, with the follow me effect adding so much life to the face. The hand paws and feet paws are both very comfortable to wear, with the feet paws having excellent support for your feet, making them very easy to walk in. The tail is easy to attach, not cumbersome, and is able to be wagged and moved around with a good range of motion. The body suit is comfortable, easy to put on and take off, and feels unrestrictive, allowing for ease of movement in most situations! (I was able to dance at a rave in it with no issues!) The materials used are very high quality, with nothing feeling "cheap". Everything looks and feels professionally made. All the pieces of the suit look amazing and flow together perfectly, blending in as one, making the character come to life very well. The price was 100% worth it for the quality of this suit! Each piece is sturdy, well built, and fits me perfectly. The tail is secure at the base, so there is no worry about any tugging while you wag to your hearts content. The markings all keep the correct shape, and the colors are consistent throughout all pieces of the suit. The digitigrade padding in the body suit was also done extremely well, and looks very nice! Everything still holds up months after getting him, and I suited with him a ton at MFF 2024 with no issues! Spareferret has once again created an amazing work of art that both looks and feels professionally made! Components Head Wear SatisfactionThe head is very comfortable and spacious, and comes with a adjustable Velcro strap to help keep it snug and secure! It has a hand carved foam base and a padded forehead for extra space. The fit is perfect, not too tight and not too loose. Interior of the head is lined with quilted broadcloth, and the neck is lined with Lycra, both being smooth and cool to the touch, which makes for a more pleasant wearing experience. The interior is constructed in a way that prevents your nose, mouth or eyes from touching the inside, instead opting to have it rest on your cheek/jaw, top of head, and occasionally your chin. This helps make the head feel more comfy and less constricting/claustrophobic, which is a nice touch. The zipper is hidden in the neck but is easy to access and Im able to zip or unzip it by myself without assistance. The vision while wearing is fantastic! The eye mesh material has great visibility, with only a small blind spot in the middle. Otherwise very clear and easy to see almost everything above the nose area You still have most of your peripheral vision intact, making walking around and keeping track of your surroundings in suit a lot easier. The ventilation is quite good! The eye mesh allows airflow through the eyes, and the snout is hollowed out, so your nose and mouth sit close to the opening in the mouth, allowing for good airflow, which is great when you have a fan to stick in there! The head feels breathable and light, which makes it great for extended suiting sessions! Visual SatisfactionSpareferret did an amazing job keeping everything neat, symmetrical, and professional looking! The shaving is very even and smooth, with no backing showing. The transition between the fur types and lengths looks natural and flows perfectly! The fur both looks and feels amazing, and is very nice quality. It is very soft to the touch, and is very easy to be brushed and smoothed out, with it only taking a couple seconds to brush out most of the areas of the face and hair. I'm very satisfied with the expressions and appearance of the head. I ordered 3 sets of eyelids for additional expressions and they did a great job on them! The default expression is a happy smile, and I just love it! It goes well with the extra eyelids too, allowing for a nice mix of happy, sad, angry, and sassy (my personal favorite). The eyes are follow-me, which also helps add life to his face. The transition from concept art to real product was executed very well! Its exactly what I was picturing for him One-Piece Body Wear SatisfactionThe body suit fits like a glove! Very comfortable and it doesn't feel constricted/itchy at all. You have a pretty good range of motion while wearing it as well! The quality and durability are both excellent! The seams of the suit are serged for added strength. The interior includes spandex pockets sewn in for the digitigrade padding, with the larger pockets having zippers, and it is quite easy to take the stuffing out/put it back in. The suit feels breathable and not super heavy, which is nice when suiting for longer periods of time (It'll still get hot of course, but with proper under armor gear its pretty easy to stay comfortable in it) I've been able to wear it for multiple hours at a time and it still feels comfortable. Another feature im quite fond of is the zipper being in the front of the body suit, allowing for an easier suiting up and desuiting experience. The zipper is also hidden quite well in the fur, making it blend in, but its easy to find where it is so you dont have to fish around for it when unzipping. The tail is attached to the back of the body suit via a belt, with there being an opening in the back of the suit where you feed the belt through two holes. The belt holes are strong and sturdy, and its very easy to get the belt through them. Visual SatisfactionOnce again, Spareferret did a wonderful job keeping everything lined up and symmetrical! The markings are very well done, and match the design perfectly. The shaving is very well done, nice and even, with no backing showing. We decided to have the stomach area be shaved shorter to help add some definition and make the chest fur pop, as well as the inner thigh shaved shorter to prevent matting of the fur, as that area tends to rub together as you're walking around. Very satisfied with how it turned out! The transition between the lengths and furs is perfect, and everything looks just so clean! The fur quality is very good, and is very soft to the touch. Like the head, the fur on the body suit can be brushed and smoothed very easily, which makes maintenance and upkeep very efficient! The markings don't bleed at all, even after being cleaned multiple times. The padding for the digitigrade legs creates a very appealing shape for the body, and its exactly what I wanted when I was envisioning the body. The markings are especially well done, which was nice as I was worried how they would look transitioning from concept to product, but Spareferret did an excellent job with them. The concept art was followed perfectly! Hands Wear SatisfactionThe hand paws are very comfortable to wear and easy to put on and take off! Mine are 4 fingered with claws, but Spareferret also offers 5 fingered paws and claw-less options if you want them! The interior of the paws are lined with a smooth, sweat wicking spandex material, helping your hands stay comfortable while wearing. The spacing between the fingers is comfortable, and your dexterity is surprisingly good for 4 fingered paws! The quality and durability are both excellent. Visual SatisfactionI'm very satisfied with how the paws look! The symmetry is once again very well done, and the design was followed perfectly! The shaving is even, and the claws are straight and sturdy! The fingers are lightly stuffed, and the paw pads are made of soft minky material, with a minky cuff for added comfort Like the rest of the suit, the fur is very easy to brush and smooth out, keeping them looking nice. Tail Wear SatisfactionThe tail is very comfortable to wear and feels lightweight. It is attached to the body suit via a belt, and has two loops you feed the belt through, which can be done quite easily. They are very evenly placed. Attaching it to the body suit is very easy as well, which makes for a pretty speedy suit up process. It stays secure in place and is lined up with the body perfectly. Your movement isn't restricted by it at all, and you can move it to the side when sitting down very easily. There is a hidden zipper on the underside of the tail for easy stuffing/unstuffing for travel and cleaning purposes! My tail is a medium length tail, but Spareferret offers small, medium, wagging, or floor dragging options depending on what you want! Visual SatisfactionI LOVE how my tail came out! The fur is very even and flows beautifully and the colors are very nice! Everything is symmetrical and the design was executed very well! The fur feels so soft and nice to the touch, and can be brushed extremely easily and quickly. The tail has very good range of motion, letting you wag to your heart's content! It moves and acts exactly how I wanted it to, with enough motion to be able to be wagged but not so much that it becomes annoying. Feet Wear SatisfactionThe feetpaws are very comfortable to wear and fit me perfectly, allowing for easy walking and good movement. You can put them on and take them off easily, and they fit snug and secure so you don't have to worry about them sliding off. They are fully lined with sweat wicking spandex for comfort, with a gel insole for support (though slip on shoes can be used instead as long as you provide Spareferret with them) The cuff is made out of minky, which prevents irritation or discomfort. The seams are quite durable and I've had no issues so far. I have indoor paws with unstuffed minky paw pads, but the option for outdoor is available as well for those who prefer that! They support your feet very well, and I find it easy to wear them for long periods of time with no issue! Visual SatisfactionThe symmetry is very well done on the feet paws, with both paw pads lined up perfectly, same for the claws. The shaving is very well done, and creates a nice definition between the foot and the longer fur of the body, with the feet blending in with the legs perfectly. The paw pads are unstuffed and made from minky material. The fur is very easy to brush on the feet paws, and is very soft and high quality. I love how they look and feel! They are both fashionable and functionable, and the bottom of the feet are soft and the beans look fantastic! I used a stick on carpet protection film from home depot to protect the bottom of the paws for MFF 2024 and it stayed clean and tidy, with no damages when removing the film, they pads are very structurally sound.
