Character Concept Art Photos of Completed Product Head Wear Satisfaction The head fits well and is fairly easy to wear. There is one hard section in the forehead that can get uncomfortable, but that is easily fixed by placing a piece of spare fabric between my face and the inside of the head. It is built on a balaclava and I have never had any problems with sweat, and cleaning is easy. The ventilation and vision are both pretty good, there are no large blind spots and it never feels stuffy. Visual Satisfaction I’m very happy with the appearance, everything is symmetrical and the markings are accurate. The overall shape of the head and the expression are exactly what I asked for, and the maker even gave her heart-shaped eye shines! The fur is extremely soft, and the fur colors not being exact to the concept art is something the maker informed me of and I approved. Special Attachments and Features The head includes LEDs in the cheeks for a blushing effect, with a pocket in the neck containing the switch and battery pack. This was the maker’s suggestion after hearing that I wanted a shy expression, and the end result looks great! I haven’t yet found a good way to operate the switch while wearing the suit, but that’s mostly because of the hooves and has nothing to do with the switch or its placement. Hands and Feet Wear Satisfaction The hands are hard plastic hooves attached to fur. The fur is unlined, but I wear gloves underneath, so that’s not an issue. They are comfortable, easy to put on, and allow for a surprising amount of motion and expression. Visual Satisfaction I love how these hooves look. The points where the plastic attaches to the fur are smooth, with no wrinkles. They perfectly match the concept art and make a very satisfying clacking noise when tapped together! Tails Wear Satisfaction The tail is short and very easy to put on and wear. It is durable and works with all of my standard belts. Visual Satisfaction The shaving and symmetry are good, and I like the shape. The markings are accurate and the fur is nice and soft. Overall Product Satisfaction How was your concept art realized? The maker worked from my existing ref sheet. They matched everything as close as possible, even consulting others for advice on getting the head and face shape right, and made sure I was happy with any differences (exact fur colors, expression, etc.). How well does everything fit together and match up? All of the pieces look good and fit together well. Although the maker had not made a deer before, the result matched what I expected from their style, and I’m very happy with the finished costume! Overall Project Quality I am beyond happy with the final product! It exceeded my expectations and I would happily have paid more. Purchase Process Initial Contact I found the maker on Twitter, from their post about being open for a head slot, and contacted them through DMs. Maker Response Time They responded promptly to all of my messages, and were always the first to reach out regarding updates or questions. Maker Professionalism The maker was amazing to work with! They were friendly and easy to talk to while still being professional. They were extremely communicative, and up front about expectations and potential delays. Project Completion Time I told the maker I’d like to have the suit for a convention in November 2018, if possible. They initially estimated it would be done sometime in September, but a few months into the project, revised that estimate to October. That later estimate was met, and I was perfectly happy with the slight delay since the maker communicated it clearly to me and I never felt like I was left not knowing the status of the project. The suit was shipped the same day it was completed, through PostNord and USPS. The maker provided tracking information and even tried to contact the shipping service when the tracking showed an unclear status. The suit arrived to me within 5 days. They were lovely to work with and their results are great!
