Character Concept Art Photos of Completed Product Head Wear Satisfaction The head fit awkwardly with how the balaclava was in, and it was too heavy to put on without falling forward right out of the box. Nothing was uncomfortable, though. Once the balaclava was removed, I saw that the tear ducts were sharp, which made me nervous. Ventilation is decent, a little stuffy since the nostrils weren’t drilled through. Vision is good for tear duct vision, but there was no mesh installed upon arrival, so I can’t give an accurate review on vision. The head came with a strong incense smell which made it hard to wear for over a few minutes at a time. Once the balaclava was removed, there was no smell. Visual Satisfaction The entire head was incredibly lopsided and full of lumps and bumps. The ears could have been pinned back more like how a Dutch’s ears usually look. The eyes are full of air bubbles and scratches, but none of them show up on camera so it doesn’t bother me that much. The eyes and lids were relatively symmetrical. The bend in the ears were just from shipping, so I think the wars would’ve been symmetrical if bent back in place. Hands and Feet Wear Satisfaction The hands are shockingly nice and snug, and very comfortable. I have quite a bit of dexterity with them. I think they’re long enough to wear skin won’t show with arm sleeves on. The seams on the paw pads are glued in, so there is a bit of loose fur around them. The sewn seams feel very durable. There is no lining in the paws and I can feel where the pads are glued in but it doesn’t bother me at all. They are still quite comfortable. Visual Satisfaction The paws look relatively symmetrical. Since these are “bonus paws,” they don’t match the character. The fur feels pretty soft everywhere, and the pads are soft and squishy as well. There are some stains on the paws and they look rather dirty when they came to me fresh out of the box. Overall Product Satisfaction How was your concept art realized? With what the maker did do with my suit, it did look like a Dutch Angel Dragon. I did switch my design thankfully in time before they did any work such as the fur and horns, and they were great continuing to work with me even though I changed the character design a bit. How well does everything fit together and match up? I only received an unfinished and nowhere near ready-to-fur head base, some random paws, and some fur and other resin fursuit parts. If this were a finished partial, I think it would’ve been good and would’ve been consistent with the maker’s style. Overall Project Quality Overall, I wasn’t the most satisfied with it. Obviously, it wasn’t finished, and I was expecting a toony head, hands, feet, arm sleeves, and wings (no tail) initially and was instead given an unfinished realistic head (which actually grew on me), random hands, a set of resin claws, 4 resin LED spikes, resin toony teeth, and decent amounts of quality furs. I’m disappointed that I couldn’t get a finished product, and the amount of work and money I’ve had to put in to get this suit finished has been a lot more than I expected. Purchase Process Initial Contact I believe the maker advertised themselves in an amino chat room saying they were open but I can’t remember. Everything was pretty clear and easy and the maker had fast response times Maker Response Time Response times were good initially. Once progress started I would have to reach out every few months to check up. However, once they deleted their amino account, I never was reached out to and had to find the maker on another social media platform and reach out to them myself. There would usually not be any contact unless I reached out first and they’d respond usually within the same day or next few days. Initial contact was on Amino, then it went to Instagram. Maker Professionalism The maker was polite, but me having to reach out and have to almost force the maker to do anything was a bit frustrating. There were a lot of excuses throughout the few years as to why nothing or very little has been done or why this ETA can’t be met. They had a lot of issues regarding their personal life and health, and I did try throughout contact to be patient and understanding. Project Completion Time The project was technically never finished and once I declared that I just wanted whatever was completed at that moment and the materials to finish it, it still took several months to get the package to my door. Initial commissioning was pretty clear, with a queue and where I was on it. I asked for several completion dates. All were not met. Once the package was shipped, it did get stuck for a while before finally arriving. Tracking was provided and they shipped through USPS. This means the reviewer would NOT recommend The Cosmic Phathom unless they significantly change their practices. Final Comments I would not commission this maker, but they won’t take commissions anymore ever again anyways. They do still make pre-mades, and frankly, if their style is what you’re into, I wouldn’t see a problem buying one of those. Just make sure you’re ready to fix anything. I can tell they make relatively okay stuff, and for pretty cheap too. The commissioning process was very poor and there were lots of miscommunications, excuses, and even the need to hunt down the maker to get my stuff. Some of their building methods were questionable, like the use of clay on a head, but the head was still salvageable and I am still using it to make my dragon.
