Head

How satisfied are you with the fit of the head?
Is it too tight or loose? Does anything poke you, stab you, make it uncomfortable to wear? Is it lined comfortably?
It fits perfectly! It fits like a glove and even has room for my glasses! I forgot to mention I needed room for glasses, but Chili asked if I did and they fit wonderfully. Nothing’s poking at all.

How is the ventilation?
Can you breathe well? Is the mask stuffy? Does the air circulate through your head?
In my experience, the head will start to get stuffy about 15 minutes after I put it on, but after taking it off for a breather, I can wear it for hours without needing to take it off.

How is the vision?
Can you see well in front of you? Is there a large blind spot? Do you have to turn your head to see? (Note: most suits do not have peripheral vision)
I find it really good. My front blind spot is about the size of a person, so sometimes I just have to walk with my head tilted, but the vision itself is super clear because of the plastic mesh used for the eyes.

How is the symmetry?
Are the eyes or ears lopsided? Are the markings symmetrical per character design?
The eye spots above the eyes are slightly differently shaped. It looks like the eyes might be very slightly lopsided, but I didn’t notice that until now when I’m looking really carefully. The bottom jaw is also a little off center. These are all things that don’t bother me though. If anything was obvious asymmetrical, then I’d be bothered, but that’s not the case here!

Is the shaving even?
Can you see the backing? Is it choppy? Is the transition to long fur what you were looking for?
The shaving isn’t bad. I’ve noticed one or two really small spots where it’s down to the backing. There are some placed where the shaving is a little uneven, leaving random pieces of long fur, but again those aren’t terribly noticeable and I just haven’t had the chance to shave those myself. The transition to long fur is nice!

How satisfied are you with the expression and overall appearance of the head?
I am super satisfied. I don’t remember exactly what I told Chili I wanted the expression to be, but I remember it being pretty vague. I’m in love with this expression because while he looks grumpy, he doesn’t really look mean, and from certain angles you can get a happier look!

I’m really satisfied! I sent her the fur to work with, so that’s why he has white instead of the lighter tan. For the mohawk, Chili said she could use the same gray fur as the under eye spots or she had longer white fur she could use instead to give it more of a mohawk look. I couldn’t decide, so I gave her the artistic freedom to choose and I like the outcome!

How satisfied are you with how well everything fits together and matches up?
Do you markings match up at the seams? Are the colors consistent?
The design is simple, but everything matches well!

How satisfied are you with how easy it was to initially contact the maker for a quote?
It was super easy. I actually posted on tumblr asking for quotes and Chili was one of the first to answer. I loved her style and the price was what I was looking for!

How satisfied are you with the response time from the maker?
How long did it take them to respond?
I don’t recall ever waiting more than a day for any replies. When the head was nearing completion, Chili would actually send me WIPs over Skype, which also gave me an easy way to ask questions!

How satisfied are you with the level of professionalism and friendliness of the maker?
Were they pleasant to work with?
Chili was very pleasant to work with!!

How satisfied are you with how the deadline was met for completion of your project?
Were any deadlines missed or was it done early?
I didn’t have a hard deadline. I think I just mentioned wanting it the first or second week in July because I had back to back cons those weekends. I got it the day I was leaving for the second con!

How satisfied are you with the overall quality of your project?
The seams on the face are glued, which would normally raise red flags. But, I’ve had him for over a year now and he’s been used pretty roughly and always sits out and he has had no damage whatsoever. The glued seams haven’t even loosened and if they do ever pop or peel, I’ll be perfectly happy to glue them back down or sew them up. The head has survived multiple cross country trips, but by mail and car, and he’s still looking new!

How satisfied are you with the overall customer service with the maker?
I’m super satisfied. I don’t have any qualms.

Pros: Easy to contact, great style, great workmanship

Cons: Glued seams

It’s been a while since I commissioned the head, but I don’t remember having any problems during the process at all and I’m still very satisfied with the head.
