Review InformationReviewerAnonymous Prior ExperienceI have owned two premades prior to this, but this is my first commissioned suit Wear TimeWorn less than 30 hours, owned for more than three months Informed Maker of IssuesThe biggest issues before I received the suit were the lack of care for the details of my character. Certain design choices had to be scrapped because they said they had no way of doing any of it, and then certain design choices the maker decided to completely IGNORE because they said they "didn't think it was that integral to the design of the character". When asked to the ignored designs they claimed there wasn't anything they could do about it since the suit was already sewn together and glued to the base. Unless I wanted them to "stick a slab of fur on the area". I also told them I didn't like how big the teeth were, to which they also told me that there was nothing they could do to change it because they had already sewn it all together and glued it on. This was all before I even received the item. Features: Fins, Hair / Wig Concept Art Photos of Completed Product Overall Initial ContactIt was easy to contact the marker initially. I had found them through someone else who actually had a well made suit from them, so when they said their commissions were open I jumped at the opportunity. I contacted them on instagram and the purchase went through paypal I believe, though they wanted the shipping payment through venmo. Maker CommunicationI am absolutely sickened by the customer service this maker has, and it almost made me scared to commission anyone afterwards. Unless we were talking about exchanging information so I could send them money they almost never responded in a timely manner. Any updates I got on my suit happened at points were it was too far in and they wouldn't allow me to change anything. For example, the first update I got was when they finished the foam base. Not bad, but the next update I got was, what I thought, of the fur cut out and pinned to the head, unshaved. This was not the case. The fur was already all sewn together and "glued" on at that point. The next update I got wouldn't be until after the head was completely shaved, the eyes were installed, and the paws and tail were made. And by that point when I asked them to fix certain things they told me they couldn't because the work was already done. And before all this, they were trying to convince me to use furs they had on hand for my project even though none of them were even close to the shades I wanted. And when they finally relented to buying the materials they told me to look through Big Z fabric's stuff on etsy because that was the only place they were willing to get the fabric from. And of course I couldn't find any of the colors I liked from there either, but I went with what was closes to the ref sheet compared to the pictures they had on the website. Not to mention the maker telling me they couldn't fix certain things because "it was already sewn together and glued down". It wasn't. They were just lazy and didn't want to fix it. Project Completion TimeThe project was completed in the time frame I was told it would be, though when I first sent them the money for the commission they told me if I paid an extra $250 I could he moved to priority (first or second in their queue). Being a first time commissioner excited to have my project be the first to be worked on I told them I'd pay the extra. And I did. But they proceeded to put me in FOURTH in their queue, making my completion date in February of 2022 and not before December of 2021. Overall Project QualityMy overall satisfaction with the product is in the negatives. I owned this suit for three months and wore it MAYBE twice before it started falling apart. I had already been thinking of getting it refurbed but when I was going to take the partial to get pictures with friends and had to cancel because the nose was literally falling off of the suit I had only worn once? It doesn't exactly sit well. Not to mention NOTHING besides the muzzle and around the eyes was glued down. Everything else was just hanging there. The lining on the inside of the head wasn't even glued down all the way. The paws are uncomfortable to wear and the only reason I still use them is because I don't have paws for my other suit. They don't match well, but they're better than nothing. As for the tail, besides wearing it once to get pictures when I first got the suit? I haven't touched it. All and all I don't believe it was worth the $1,800+ I spent on it. Especially when some of the furs weren't good quality and the thing fell apart without even being worn. Components Head Wear SatisfactionThe head was roomie. I didn't realize until I got the head refurbed that the material used on the inside of the head was some sort of t-shirt material. I never wore it long enough to sweat in it so I wouldn't know if it was sweat wicking or not. The ventilation was surprisingly decent and the vision very good, probably the best I've had in any of my suits. But there is a reason for that which was an issue which will be discussed later. Visual SatisfactionThe head was very unsatisfactory to look at. It was hard to look at it and see my character when the colors were so off. When looking at the suit it looked less like a cat and more like a dog or fox. If looked at the right way you could see straight through the eye mesh and see the person inside the suit staring at you, even from a distance. Not to mention the painting of the eyes made them look like dead fish rather than a character with emotions. The different quality of furs used on the project also made the head look like a hodge podge of thrown together pieces that looked like they didn't belong together. Not to mention parts were shaved bald and parts weren't shaved at all. The maker had decided at one point that the large, black cheek puffs on the side of my character's face "weren't that important" and made them almost unnoticeable from the front. When I asked them to fix this because they WERE important to the design and were arguably one of my favorite parts, they told me that they couldn't fix it because it was glued down already. Hands Wear SatisfactionThe hands were small and uncomfortable to wear as they were not lined. I know lining in hand paws is not a must but if really ruined wearing them for me. The fur was awful to touch as it was not a nice luxury fur, but the crispy, bad and cheap fur you'd pick up at joann fabrics. Visual SatisfactionBecause of the cheap black fur the paws have a weird shine in the light that makes them look exceptionally fake and almost greasy in a way. When feeling the fur at the base of the hand compared to the fur at the tips of the fingers they are two different qualities, which throws off the whole look of them. The paw pads were originally supposed to he spotted, but the maker said that they did not have any means of sewing spots on the pads, nor did they own an airbrush to spray the spots on instead, so it was a design choice we mutually agreed to cut early on. Tail Wear SatisfactionThe tail only had one belt loop, which made if practically impossible to wear if I were to wear a pair of jeans. Because if had one belt loop it also slid around way too easily and I would constantly have to fix it. Visual SatisfactionThe way the tail was made was partially my fault, as I had thought a saggy fish tail would be a good idea. Once I got the tail though I found it wasn't as great as I thought. The design of the character has since been changed to have a tail that sticks out, and is much shorter. Besides that though, the issue with the differing quality of furs still persists, and had I decided during the making of the suit that I had wanted a that that could stick out anyway the maker told me early on that they ONLY do stuffed tails. So it would be saggy regardless. The fin they put on the tail looms very low effort and doesn't fit the look very well. All and all the tail looks like a saggy carrot with a fin lazily slapped at the tip. RatingFursuitReview rates by asking the question: Would you recommend this maker? Final CommentsI would hate for this person to lose their job over this, but their customer service and worth ethic SERIOUSLY need worked on. When you are being paid thousands of dollars to make luxury items for people you shouldn't be half-assing your job. It just makes your product not worth what was paid for it. Just last night (12/18/22) I had another one of their customers reach out to me about their experience with the maker too since they saw I had my head completely refurbed. We've both had the same issue with this maker and have kind of just been wondering how many of their other customers have and just haven't said anything yet. It's disgusting, and when I think about how much money I spent on this suit, and the money I had to spend ONTOP of that to get it refurbed? I regret commissioning them every time. Their TOS is also a nightmare. No TOS should only have maker protection in every line. A good TOS is going to have buyer protection in there somehow if it comes out to the maker lacking. Which they were. All and all my final thoughts on Bluemoonsies are: Unless they change the way they handle things and their worth ethic? Don't waste your time. Their other customer who reached out to me last night told me that they had literally told them that because THEY messed up on something when they were making the paws, the buyer would have to fix it themselves…. What? How does that make sense? Their whole attitude is just "I made a mistake, I'm too lazy to fix it, it's your problem now" and that is NOT the way to run a business.
