Though we have never met in real life, I had been talking with this maker online for roughly six months prior to the commission, about unrelated subjects. When I mentioned I was looking for someone to make my fursona, he offered to take the commission. Communication about the suit continued through our Discord DMs and payment was via PayPal goods and services.
Since the maker and I knew each other already, communication between us was clear and fairly informal, though he was never unprofessional and was in fact very pleasant to work with. He kept me updated with frequent WIP images, and consulted me about every aspect of the process, regarding my design/aesthetic choices.
The maker worked very quickly on my suit, which was great, though I'm sure this was because he doesn't typically take commissions and therefore could get to work on mine right away. I received the suit roughly a month after the process began, which was earlier than I expected and coincidentally lined up very nicely with my birthday, though a specific completion date was never discussed. My suit was sent via Royal Mail's next day delivery service and arrived as expected with no issues. The maker also gave me the tracking number just in case something did go wrong, which it thankfully didn't. The suit was well packaged, in a plastic bag inside the box.
If it wasn't clear enough from my previous answers, I really could not be happier with the way this commission turned out. The maker did a phenomenal job of bringing my character to life and honestly, I would have paid a lot more given the quality of his work. The suit is durable, made from good quality materials, and just looks fantastic. I have owned Holt for almost a year now and, at one point, was wearing him to furmeets almost every weekend for months. In that time I have only had a few popped seams that were easily fixed and no other issues. The suit is quite tight even on me, which I attribute to the lining and my improper measurements, but still fits very comfortably. I hope I will be able to continue wearing this suit for many more years to come!
Overall a very comfortable fursuiting experience. This head is a tighter fit than the secondhand suit head I bought, which was listed as having a 21" circumference. I gave this same measurement to the maker, and although Holt's head is on the smaller side, it fits me very well. I have no complaints about vision or ventilation whatsoever as they seem completely standard for a fursuit. The eyes are 2D/flat and fairly large so the field of vision is good; there is only a small blind spot due to the muzzle, which is to be expected. The mouth opens wide enough to drink water through if necessary, and I am able to breathe easily in suit. This head is lined with lycra, which the maker consulted me on before purchasing, and it seems to be perfectly sufficient for wicking away sweat, though I typically wear a balaclava when suiting anyway.
I really could not be happier with how this suit turned out. The maker did a fantastic job of portraying the character, despite the only reference sheets I had at the time being made with MS Paint and free-to-use bases; he went off of my notes and doodles I provided to truly make the character's personality shine through, despite the static eyes (which are my visual preference on suits).
The markings on the suit are stitched on well, and match up exactly with how they're depicted on the reference sheet. The only alteration/addition is white fur inside the ears, which I was asked about and absolutely love. The maker even got the deliberately asymmetrical patches on the neck right, which would have been an easy detail to miss. Otherwise everything seems perfectly symmetrical. The only exception would be the nose, which I've always thought looks a little lopsided, but that's a minor criticism.
The shaving and transitions are perfect, the fur is high quality and feels fantastic. It is easy to brush, fluffy and soft, but still sticks out in the places I want it to as the characters has a somewhat spiky appearance. Overall this maker brought my character to life in the exact way I'd imagined.
Much like the head, the handpaws of this suit were a tight fit upon first receiving them. This may be down to both the head and hands being fully lined with the same material; the maker advised me that lined handpaws can be quite form-fitting, and asked if the paws should be sized up slightly as a result. At the time of commissioning this suit, I could not provide accurate measurements for my hands as I did not have anything to measure them with, so I sent the maker a picture of my hand using a standard debit card for reference. The maker then modeled the paws on his own hands as they were a similar size. Over time, the lycra has presumably stretched and now the handpaws fit very comfortably. They are still snug and would never fall off, but are easy to put on and move around in.
As previously mentioned, I have had a few issues with popped seams in the paws (mostly internal), but these have all been incredibly easy to fix at home. The maker informed me that he goes over seams multiple times to ensure the breaks would not get worse, and this has seemingly proven to be true. The character has no paw pads, only claws, but these are durable and have never come off.
As with the head, the handpaws look fantastic. I really cannot fault the visual appearance of this suit whatsoever. There is only a small marking on the left paw which the maker handled perfectly. The plush claws are also a great touch. The cuffs on the paws are black rather than white due to the maker running out of white material. When asked what I wanted to do about this, I opted for the black cuffs, which look perfectly fine and even add a pop of colour when poodling.
The fur on the tail is soft and very fluffy, as with the rest of the suit. The tail attaches via two belt loops, which are made from a very durable material and have held up fairly well. It is also built on a foam core, which makes the tail harder to wash, but a lot more sturdy. It's still just the right amount of squishy though, and functions perfectly.
Despite only being a small nub tail, I was hoping it would still bounce around a lot when I moved, and it absolutely does! I love the eye-catching nature of the white fur. The maker also added a cut-off bone/"gore" detail to the attached part of the tail, which I didn't ask for but looks absolutely fantastic.
