I messaged her directly on telegram, as we were friends at the time, to let her know I was interested in doing a trade with her. Being a maker myself, I was able to get her all of the measurements she needed for the project easily.
There was little to no communication with the maker up until the end. She was difficult to reach, wouldn't follow-up unless reminded, and was generally seeming like she did not take the time to remind or make reminders for herself to follow-up. She would be gone on vacation or with no explanation often. There would be promises made that were not fulfilled or she would forget to get back to me afterwards and it would be too late.
Apparently there was a client chat that I was supposed to be in, but I never got added into it or messages forwarded to me to be sure I saw them. I brought this up to her as she was in my client chat and would get wips by private message as well to keep her up to date. It was not reciprocated. It felt and still feels like a lack of care.
Any communication that DID happen was via MY commission client chat, and did not leave space for input unless I forwarded it to her privately. She would share the wips publicly before I even saw them, in chats I am not in or in her public channel without confirming anything with me. She did not have me approve wips except for when I asked her to fix the ears and hair. She ran on mostly assumptions rather than asking.
I did not get finished pictures until I saw them on her social media, and it was after the head was shipped. I feel like all of the issues I had with the head could have been avoided if she just talked to me as much as I did her for what she received.
I felt, and still feel, like it took way too long to receive what I did. I was told it would be a quick project and I'd get it within a few months. I started and finished my side of the trade before she started, it felt like, because the head was rushed instead of seeming like she was working on it over time as I did for my side of the trade.
I was not, and I’m STILL not happy with what I received. She *looked* cute in the pictures Lily took for her socials, but I wasn't happy with how everything looked at the end. It ended up looking nothing like what I expected, or anything close to her other works that were supposedly finished around the same time.
I supplied all of the fur for the project, and there were furs that I sent off to be used that never did get used (assuming they got lost).
The handsewing was widely and loosely stitched, and I could get my finger in some of the stitching if not all of it. Loose threads, bald spots and holes everywhere. There were holes that were blatantly obvious once seen in person, even if you used the 3-foot rule (if you can't see it 3 feet away, it's not the end of the world, for lack of a better way to put it). The sizing was not correct, and I had to have my partner rescue me out of the head because I got stuck. I checked my measurements again to be sure they did not change (no changes) from when I gave them to her, as she swore it fit her 24in mannequin. Hair pieces were loosely tacked on to hide holes in the face fur.
The head did not last an hour out of the box. Nose was supposed to be pickable, but was not stable and I ended up (accidentally) pulling out the nose liner sticking my finger through. Trying to put the head on caused several threads to pop in the neck and head. The eyes were pushed out by wearing the head because they were not tacked in properly, and they rubbed on my face because they were rough and not backed. The eyeliner did not stay attached to the head and peeled up.
Communication was lackluster, and it took essentially chasing her to get any communication. We were supposed to be friends/updating each other during the trade and when things were done. I either had to be annoying or text/call her personal cell number in order to get a response, as she would disappear without warning.
It was not safe to wear, as I found out after sending it to be refurbed/scrapped, as it had a total of 7 pins in the head. 3 of which were around the eyes.
Receiving this head burnt me out on both our friendship and my fursona and neither have recovered.
Being brutally honest, she did not fit. She was too tight for me to get on, and once on I was trapped in the head. I have to wear glasses, and could not get these in the head nor did I want to try to as the eyemesh was directly in front of my eyes and pushing on my face. Vision was okay (if I was able to open my eyes) but I was, and still am blind in suit without my glasses.
I was not able to keep the head on more than a minute as it was way too tight and I (at the time) couldn't tell what was poking me.
She looks rushed. There seems to be little care in what I recieved compared to other suits she was working on during the time she was making my head.
There are bald spots all along the forehead and exposed foam in that area.
Stitching in the head, neck and mouth area is extremely wide, loose and either popped or coming undone directly out of the box. The same can be said for the hair, which seems purposely sewn down to hide the bald spots.
The eyes are flip-flopped, with the wrong colors on the wrong sides.
Would you recommend this maker?
This means the reviewer would NOT recommend Lily Moon Suits unless they significantly change their practices.
I have brought these up to the maker, but I told her I do not trust her with doing any more work for me/with me as I'm extremely unhappy with this. She did initially offer to fix it, but by that time it had been shipped. She did send a small amount of money back, but it did not cover the refurb so I had the maker I sent her to scrap the head for parts, as we had to start completely over once the fur was off. I waited to see if her work had gotten better but I don't feel as though I should hold off on reviewing any longer. I have had many of her clients come out of the woodwork and ask me about my experience so they did not feel alone in their frustration.
Please do better, Lily.
Your work is pretty, but it isn't worth it's salt if your clients can't wear their costumes or things are SO off it's hard to wear without being embarrassed or strangled.
