Reviewer Information Reviewer Instagram: typhoon_lul Relationship With Maker The maker IS a friend Prior Experience This was my first suit, and was refurbished once by the maker. Informed Maker of Issues Yes, I was aware that at first this was a ‘practice suit’, and this was factored into the price. When it arrived it was still a lovely suit, however I had some problems with the lining being too tight on my head, and the stitching was a bit rough and done by hand. However I contacted the maker about this and she was very understanding, and offered to refurbish the fur and lining on the suit for free! Review Video Photos of Completed Product Head Wear Satisfaction at first it was beautiful, albeit slightly uncomfortable and rough around the edges. After i addressed these with her she responded quickly. She redid the lining on the inside so it fit perfectly, and redid the stitching with a sewing machine. Afterwards it was surprisingly comfy to wear. After the refurbishing it didn’t feel off-balanced or tight on my head at all. the vision is a bit dark, but I believe that is common with all fursuits. I am still able to see out the eye sockets, and was more than able to wear it around conventions. I even brought Typhoon to Confuzzled 2018 and I was able to wear him every day. At the end of the 5 day convention, he showed no signs of wear or decay. Overall I was so pleasantly surprised with the quality. This was a very early suit from this maker, her first suit not made for herself, if i remember correctly. Looking back, it is amazing how high the quality of this suit was, and the refurbishing was even more surprising. The maker went above and beyond on making this suit, I cannot overstate my satisfaction. Visual Satisfaction I could not have asked for more with regards to the suit’s appearance. I was new to the fandom at the time, and was not sure how detailed or vague i should have be when describing my character. I knew that i wanted a wolf, and wanted a blonde-haired motif to it. Then I provided her with some wolf characters I liked. Then not only did Ladynightlight help me work out what i wanted, she explained everything so well, i knew exactly what features would be expensive, what ones would be possible and impossible, etc. From a practical point, the suit had next to no faults. the face was symmetrical, there was no signs of the backing, it felt very soft and the amount of expression on the suit after the refurbishing could have a whole paragraph to itself of me singing its praises. The only negative aspect was that, on its initial design, the stitching on the white fur was fairly visible. It had been sewn on by hand and the seams came through a little bit. But the stitching never came off, and when she refurbished it she redid the stitching on a machine. So I assume this was because it was one of her first suits. Overall the appearance of the suit was incredibly impressive for an early work, and after the refurbishing it was close to perfect. Massive props to the amount of facial expressions that the suit can make, shown in the pictures. Special Attachments and Features The first version of the suit had a hair tuft to it that was movable. I asked for this to be removed in the refurbishing though. The suit also has a set of detachable eyebrows that can make the suit look angry, sad, happy and sleepy. The tongue is magnetic and can be attached to the sides of his face. the tongue is also quite retractable, in that I can stuff it inside the head to put it away. The gloves have finger holes in the thumb to help with picking things up. none of these features have shown any signs of wear, and haven’t impeded the use of the suit to my knowledge. Hands and Feet Wear Satisfaction the hands are very comfy, they fit just like a normal set of gloves. They are 4 fingered, so they obstruct co-ordination a little bit. Where I had no problem going around a convention with my head on, I would usually take my gloves off for convenience. There was a thumb hole built into the gloves to help picking things up, but it was still easier to remove the gloves. I had not expected any different, although it is worth mentioning in case anyone wishes to wear gloves around a convention. Aesthetically the gloves were lovely. It was more the case that I was less interested in the paws than the head, and after commissioning the gloves, I decided to mostly go around without the gloves. Visual Satisfaction The gloves look great. They are made from the same fur as the head, which looks lovely. LadyNightLight went off the design from my character sheet, and while this design was not complex, it was as good as I had expected it to be. Unfortunately due to the lack of complexity of my design, I can’t say how impressive they are, but practically they function, and aesthetically they look nice. Overall Product Satisfaction How well does everything fit together and match up? The head of the suit felt tailor-made to my design. I was amazed when i saw the suit, both in its first iteration and after the refurbishing, as they both seemed a carbon-copy of what I had imagined. The head matches the gloves in both style and colour, she didn’t cut any corners at any point in the commission. None of the features have had any problems in the year and a half since its refurbishing. Asides from some rough stitch-work and fitting issues in the first iteration. Since its revamp, everything has held in place perfectly. The additional features all work and add so much expression. In terms of the maker’s consistency, I follow her on Facebook and Instagram, and meet her regularly in person. I have seen a notable improvement in her suits since the refurbishment of Typhoon. She has made a few wolf costumes since my own one, and her style has not changed much, but she is a lot neater and more comfortable with more detailed patterns since Typhoon’s design. I should mention that I don’t believe she has included the listed additional features in any suits since typhoon, so i can’t speak for her consistency on those features. Overall Project Quality The suit was above and beyond my expectations. I had a vague idea on my head of what I wanted, and LadyNightLight turned it into a really personalised and beautiful design. I could not have asked for a better suit from her. Purchase Process Initial Contact It was very easy to contact LadyNightLight. I spoke to her in person, though as far as I know she is quite frequently active on most social media platforms Maker Response Time I had no problems in this area at all. I should mention I was meeting her regularly in person, so i do not have any knowledge of her frequency of online responses. Although other commissioners of her have agreed with me on her punctuality. Maker Professionalism Although I knew her personally, LadyNightLight maintained professionalism throughout the commission. she could answer any question i put to her, and had an encyclopedic knowledge of fur quality, fursuit techniques and design philosophies. Project Completion Time Very impressive. The suit was finished and delivered to me on the day she had the deadline for. I was given frequent updates throughout its creation and she was open to communication throughout the process. Rating FursuitReview rates by asking the question: Would you recommend this maker? Final Comments Overall the quality of the suit was far beyond my expectations, and the level of professionalism from LadyNightLight was leagues above what I had hoped for. It was as close to an ideal commission as I could have wanted, especially from a new maker at the time. I was especially impressed with how expediently she offered to update my suit, removing any negative criticism i had with it. The first edition of the suit was an impressive and middle-quality suit for a bargain, but the updated suit is so comfy, its beautiful and i’m as happy with it as I would be with any of the highest quality fursuit makers. I have to mention that I am a close friend of the maker, however I can objectively say that there are currently no issues with the suit, and I would highly recommend checking the attached pictures, as they are part of a recent photoshoot from the last time the suit was worn. Additionally, LadyNightLight has offered a free (minus postage and packaging) refurbishing of her suits if they have any issues. This review has been written with the intent of avoiding any bias. In terms of negatives, all my major complaints were fixed expediently by the maker. I initially had problems with the tightness of the lining and the hand stitching, though both issues were quickly addressed and fixed. Additionally the eyes can occasionally be difficult to see out of, however it does not affect my vision to the extent that I ever feel the need to remove the head. Typhoon was an absolutely perfect rendition of what i had hoped for. It was worth the money when I received it in it’s first state, but after the revamp I absolutely fell in love with it. The pictures show its an absolutely beautiful suit, and the fact that it is so expressive is so much fun to mess around with. Again i can’t overstate just how grateful I was for the incredible refurbishing she did, and how much of a pleasure she was to work with.
