The maker provided some extra foamies for padding adjustment, which I used a bit of on the forehead and jaw to get an optimal fit. The open top/back of the head and large eye holes provide great ventilation. The moving jaw also helps with this. Vision is perfect due to the nature of the mask. Visual Satisfaction The head is absolutely gorgeous and I am thrilled to bits with it! Despite the lack of eyes or facial padding, it still manages to convey a gentle expression. The head is symmetrical and well constructed. All markings are airbrushed; they match the reference and look good. The white fur on the muzzle is shaved a bit thin and the backing is visible up close, but all in all this is a very minor flaw. Special Attachments and Features The head is designed to use the wearer’s own eyes and hair. The back of the head closes with two elastic/velcro straps and velcro on the hood and neck piece. This method works very well and I am quite pleased with it. I am able to get the head on by myself if need be, but it is much more efficient and looks better when I have a second person to help. On occasion, there will be a hard bump visibly protruding from my hair near the top of the hood closure, but I feel that may have to do with the person who assists me with putting the head on. Hands and Feet Wear Satisfaction The arm sleeves fit well and are easy to get on. They are sewn to an elastic strap to keep them from sliding down. The maker requested a paper tracing of my hands to get the glove fit just right. The sleeves are unlined and there are pen markings on the inside, but these are not visible when worn. There has been some chipping of claws and paw pads due to regular wear and tear over the life of the fursuit. The feetpaws are built on slip-on shoes and have a small invisible zipper on the inside of the ankle. They are comfy and easy to wear. Note: The maker does not offer parade-sole or outdoor style feet. Over time, the fur on the bottoms of the paws has begun to rub off and both center pawpads have cracked. I am not considering this a strike against the maker, as I was inexperienced with fursuits and assumed the feet would be fine to wear outdoors. I recommend others who commission this maker to use fursuit sandals or similar foot coverings, and/or strictly wear their feetpaws on carpeted surfaces to prolong the life of the paws. Visual Satisfaction I am satisfied with the look of both the hand- and feetpaws. The fur is soft, of good quality, and easily brushable. There are tons of airbrushed markings, and they all look great, with no smudging or bleeding. Everything looks wonderfully realistic. The pawpads are made of latex, which has the added bonus of transmitting body heat, so it feels all the more realistic when I give a handshake or high-five! (My suit was one of the first to utilize latex pawpads and the maker checked with me beforehand to make sure that would be okay; she now only offers latex pads.) Tails Wear Satisfaction The tail attaches to a belt with two elastic loops. I have had no problems with it. Visual Satisfaction The tail looks beautiful and I absolutely love it! I wear it on its own at cons sometimes and get tons of compliments. The tail tip and two rings are sewn and all the rest of the markings are airbrushed. I have had no issues with markings rubbing off. The fur feels lovely and soft. The shape and padding are great and provide a nice realistic sway when walking. Final Comments MagpieBones is very professional and a pleasure to work with. This being my first fursuit, I had a few questions before the process began, which she answered promptly. Updates were frequent and I never felt like I was being ignored or that I had to pester her for a response. She contacted me twice during the process, once to clarify a marking and once to ensure that I would be okay with her trying an experimental method on the pawpads. Even years later, I messaged her asking about some fursuit maintenance particulars, and she was happy to provide a few tips. My suit was shipped in a cardboard box marked “fragile” with sufficient internal packaging (I don’t recall exactly what, as it’s been a few years, but everything arrived just fine).
