Overall

Initial ContactKarasukeii was easy to reach out to and posted about their commission opening dates before so I was able to get ready ahead of time.

Maker CommunicationKarasukeii was easy to communicate with. We started talking through Instagram DMs, but switched to Discord not long after that. They typically responded within a day or two of me sending messages, and sent WIP photos at points of significant progress. They were also polite and responsive to any requests I made for small changes during the sculpting and patterning stages. The whole experience was professional and businesslike, but still friendly.

Project Completion TimeThere were a couple projects ahead of me in the queue; I was able to watch them get completed through their Trello page. I was given an ETA of February 2022, but it wasn't finished and sent to me until May 2022. I did get a tracking number for the package, and since it was a domestic delivery, it arrived pretty quickly and didn't have to go through customs.

Overall Project QualityAll in all, I'm very satisfied with this fursuit. I think it looks adorable, and is comfortable to wear and move in for the most part. The construction was clearly done with attention to detail. With the level of quality, I think this suit was worth more than what I paid for it. It hasn't been damaged yet although I've worn it to three conventions; some of the fur near the bottoms of the feet is a little stained from walking around outside, but I knew that was going to happen just from having a design with white on the feet. I love performing as Lychigo and it's been made even easier knowing the suit I'm wearing is comfy and looks great in photos.

Components

Head

Wear SatisfactionThe head is comfortable, lightweight, and roomy. It's lined with a knit fabric. The vision is just about as expected for a fursuit with a large snout and 2D eyes, so I have no complaints. The mouth is mostly closed by default and is lined with minky, which does create a head and ventilation issue, but it's easy to subtly prop the mouth open to get more airflow.

Visual SatisfactionEven though this was the maker's first time making a deer head, I think they did a great job with the shape. Her snout is nice and chunky like it is in the ref sheet. The markings are clean and symmetrical, and the expression is very cute. One or two markings were simplified for the sake of making them easier to sew, which I think was the right decision. The eyes are lined with a thick, stiff felt that I like the weight and durability of. I also purchased a pair of "sassy" magnetic eyelids, which blend in well with the fur and attach strongly.

One-Piece Body

Wear SatisfactionThe bodysuit is comfortable and gives a good range of movement. I can squat down, bend over, raise my arms, and twist without having to worry about a seam popping. The sleeves are a couple inches too short, and when I bend my elbows, the gap between the sleeve and the end of the glove is visible. However, I have my own materials at home to fix this and therefore have no issue with it. There are a few construction marks on the inside but they have not bled through from sweat, washing, or fursuit spray. The thigh/hip and ankle pads are sewn into the suit, with zippers in the thighs to allow for stuffing addition or removal. I like this because it makes it easier to move around without having to stop and readjust. The butt pad is separate, as is the chest pad. These are both made with a quilted fabric and feel nice to the touch.

Visual SatisfactionI like the subtle difference in fur lengths/types on this suit; the coral and peach are a short, shaved luxury shag, most of the white is a slightly longer teddy fur, and the mint green is an unshaven luxury shag. Just like on the head, the markings are symmetrical and slightly simplified from the reference in a couple places. Because coral isn't a common color in fursuits, I gave the maker links to the specific colors I wanted to be used, and they obliged with no issues. I also asked for a pad in the chest to give a smooth curved chest shape like many animals have, and a little extra padding in the hips to give her a more pear-shaped figure. Both of these look great! The overall shape of the body is smooth and natural looking. Because it's small, the tail is sewn onto the bodysuit, and it stands straight out in a very cute way. I also like the dewclaws on the ankles, and the neckline is finished with minky which is both comfy and professional looking.

Hands

Wear SatisfactionThe hands are lined with a quilted cotton fabric, which I haven't seen in a pair of fursuit hands before, but they're comfortable nonetheless. The lining feels slightly cool to the touch. Since they're puffy plush hooves, there are no small or delicate parts with the potential to come off. The dexterity is about what I imaged for a pair of hands with only three digits each, I can pick up objects with slight difficulty and hold my phone stylus. They're also easy to wash in my washing machine.

Visual SatisfactionSymmetrical and nicely shaped; I like the added touch of the fur being longer around the edges of the hooves. The green minky does a pretty good job at matching the green fur.

Feet

Wear SatisfactionThe feet are a little hard to wear, the sockpaw style of them means that my feet aren't super secure and are prone to sliding around or slipping out if I try to run. This means I can't lift my feet super high and mostly have to shuffle around or take small steps. The lining is the same quilted cotton as the hands. The bottoms of the feet are regular textured EVA foam.

Visual SatisfactionI think the shape of the hoof is great, it's cute and chunky. There's also a piece of slightly darker green minky in the space between the two toes of the hoof that adds a little bit of extra depth, which I think is a really nice touch. There's a visible overlap from the bottom of the leg going over the top of the foot, but because it's a short pile fur, that's inevitable and I don't mind it.
