Overall

Initial ContactIt was very easy to message this maker for a quote, I was able to ask about the commission and pay in the same day.

Maker CommunicationTheir communication was terrible, they wouldn't respond to me for weeks on end. I would check up multiple times with no response, I don't tend to bombard makers with messages but this maker wouldn't respond to any of my messages if I didn't message them a couple times a week. They got upset with me at one point for asking for updates. At one point I got tired of waiting, so I asked to either have the paws shipped uncomplete or get a refund and they insisted on completing the paws. After the paws were delivered they never responded to any of my messages again.

Project Completion TimeThese paws took 8 months to complete. The maker gave me multiple ETAS that were pushed and skipped. The maker was attending multiple conventions at the time that the paws were being worked on. I requested that the paws be delivered at FWA, but they said their clippers broke and they weren't able to finish them in time which delayed my fullsuit debut. After FWA they said they'd have them done ASAP, but I didn't hear anything about them being worked on until many weeks later and they had barely made any progress. I was promised the paws shortly after FWA in May, and received them in August after begging multiple times for them to be completed. The maker stated that the slow work was due to the fact that they were dealing with health problems, but never told me this from the beginning and waited until I was asking for a refund to tell me this information. Overall, I didn't have a good time with this maker. The quality is okay, if the maker had been better about communicating it would've been fine. I would never commission this maker again because of how poorly they communicated. They were aggressive multiple times over me messaging them for updates. It was very upsetting, it makes me sad because the maker has good work. The whole situation was honestly just a waste of my time, Im selling the paws now and I have already commissioned a new maker to make me a pair of paws with the exact same pattern.

Overall Project QualityOverall, I'm not really satisfied with the product. For how long it took, I would have rather commissioned someone else. I feel like they were a bit overpriced given they look like they were rushed to completion. I had a very negative time with this maker.

Components

Hands

Wear SatisfactionYou wear these as gloves, the inside is only partially lined despite me asking multiple times for the paws to be completely lined due to sensory issues. The some of the paw beans are not lined at all and are open stuffing. The paws fit fine on my hands, but the beans are barely stuffed enough and my fingers show through the paw pads when applying pressure. There are holes in between every single finger, and this was an issue that was already present the moment I took them out of the box.The embroidery around some of the fingers is not very clean, it has fur covering it or it is bent in a strange shape.

Visual SatisfactionOverall the paws look alright, the embroidery of the paw pads is the largest problem. There are many places where they just look sloppily put together, where fur is covering it or the embroidery/paw pad is warped or the minky is showing on the other side of the embroidery. There are loose threads in multiple places over the paw pads as well, you can notice some of them in the pictures. The fur is shaved a little choppy, but the maker shaved them after sewing them up by my request. The cuffing on the paws is nice and the claws are well made and cute.

RatingFursuitReview rates by asking the question:

NO This review has been marked with a negative rating.
This means the reviewer would NOT recommend The Sewing Pony unless they significantly change their practices.

Final CommentsI don't have anything against this person, I'm sure they're a fine individual but I just don't believe running a business is something they should be doing. They were very unprofessional.
