Quoting periods are posted publicly on Starcane Arts social media pages, including Twitter, Instagram, Tik Tok, and Bluesky! I received the quote for my fursuit via email, and all further communication regarding the project was done via either the same email chain or over Telegram for quick questions.
Communication is what makes Starcane Arts outstanding fursuit artists in my eyes! They host a telegram chat for Patrons and current/former clients are able to communicate collaboratively with other Starcane family members! As this was my first time going through the fursuit commission process, my nerves were at an all-time high. However, they were patient with me and gave me space to consider my options, as well as the ability to join this telegram chat (as a patron) so that I may talk with other clients and patrons before committing to what I was quoted. They did not push me into one decision or another, and gave me the resources I needed to help make my decision with both a kind and professional attitude.
Not only that, but they also share WIP photos, tutorials and explanations and daily updates in the telegram channel so you are able to see their craft first-hand. Specifics regarding your particular project, stop points for decisions, suggestions, and shipping details are kept to a 1-on-1 email. Response times were very prompt, and it never took more than a day to hear back from them, via email and telegram.
Starcane Arts completed my project in a reasonable period for this type of suit!
Starcane Arts created Ringgar's fursuit with a a high degree of quality and love as if he was one of their own characters! I have had no issues with ripping or popping seams, loose claws, base deformities, etc. since receiving Ringgar, even after a set of Fursuit Games and a wash cycle. After some practice, I have been able to put on and take off the entire suit by myself in about 20 minutes. Ringgar's pattern and fur colors were translated accurately (and all sewn-in) from concept to the finished project, and I am absolutely over the moon (and into the stars!) Thrilled about how Ringgar came out! I sincerely recommend visiting their website to see the variety of other projects they have tackled as well!
The head fits nicely! There are no obstructions when putting the head on or taking the head off. The head is worn as a pull-on style mask, which aids in accessibility, especially when attempting to pull on or take off the head while wearing large paws over your hands. Futhermore, the head shape uses an expanding foam base, causing the head to be lightweight, balanced, and easy to wear. The head is lined with Starcane's themed neoprene fabric, making the fit uniform and comfortable, while also allowing for air to circulate through the head. The head generally does not slide around during wear, but is not so tight as to cause compression.
Vision in the head is through the eyes, and is generally not obstructive. I have depth of field and can make out most objects in an approximately 50-60 degree angle in front of me. There is a blind spot in where the bridge of the nose is, so depending on the shape of an object, I may not be able to see an object ~5ft. directly in front of me. This is usually not an issue as the head is light enough that turning slightly to the left or right corrects this blind spot without any stress.
The pattern on Ringgar's face is exactly where it is pictured in the reference sheet, and Starcane Arts took great care to capture the details and translate them to the final assembly! The shaving is symmetrical and clean across the entire head, and I am extremely satisfied with the overall look!
The bodysuit is a comfortable wear with a mostly full range of motion when worn. The interior is unlined, however neoprene is used to create the pockets used to fill the legs for digitrade padding. These are meant to be filled with polyfill, and the neoprene allows for some stretching for extra stuffing if desired! The zippers used to open these padding pockets are unobtrusive and not noticeable when walking with the bodysuit, adding to the comfort! The bodysuit can be worn with the polyfill already added; you do not need to stuff the suit after putting it on.
All of the ring patterns and helix patterns on Ringgar were hand-sewn, and I am very satisfied with how they translated from concept to finished suit! There are zippers around the shins of the bodysuit as the feetpaws are meant to be worn and appear as an 'all-attached' part of the suit! This means that there is little to no visible line where the bodysuit ends and the feetpaws begin. The main zipper for the bodysuit is a hidden zipper on the front side of the suit, which I have yet to be able to distinguish in my own photos! The fur is shaved shorter around the front torso, just underneath the arms, and on the arms of the bodysuit as these areas see a lot of movement. This causes the fur to not become immediately matted after moving around for a few minutes, which is a big plus visually!
The hand paws are quite comfortable to wear! Dexterity is impacted as expected, as they are four-fingered and the paw beans are oversized, but this style of handpaw was an active choice on my part! There is enough wiggle room for me to be able to put one paw on or take it off while wearing the other by myself. The handpaws are not lined. The claws (both here and on the feetpaws) are fabric-based and stuffed. I have not had any issues with claws ripping or popping off during use thus far!
Who doesn't love squishable beans? They are one of the highlights of the suit, and Starcane Arts certainly delivers in function, looks, and comfort!
The tail is worn via belt & loop, and has a perfect length to not be a floor-dragging tail, letting it wag freely and without obstruction! There is a belt loop hidden on the bodysuit that allows for the tail to be worn.
I have no complaints regarding the tail, it is just as I had hoped it would appear and is satisfying to both look at and wear!
The feetpaws fit extremely well! The feetpaws can be worn by simply sliding ones foot in or out as needed! Just like the bodysuit, these contain neoprene pockets for polyfill digi padding, however the feetpaws are actually completely lined with the neoprene as well, leaving a very comfortable fit for stomping around in! The feet are expanding-foam-based, but durable! Since the feetpaws are zipper-attached, they can be, but aren't typically worn as a partial. When attaching the feetpaws, I am able to attach the feetpaws to the bodysuit both before and after getting into the bodysuit. The same goes for removing the feetpaws from the bodysuit. Similarly to the handpaws, I have not had any issues with claws ripping or popping out during use!
The 'all-attached' look of the feetpaws zippered onto the bodysuit is incredibly visually satisfying, while also not being obstructive to wear!
