Very easy. The maker posted a quote opening form via Google Forms on Twitter, and I was able to fill it out after paying a very small convenience fee. I sent my quote request in April and received a reply back promptly. All of the initial details the maker needed to know were included in the quote form.
Amazing!
I was contacted at every step of the process, from the quote form to the shipping of the suit. Replies were consistent and fast and I never had to wait on any details. The maker has a Trello with project progress, as well as established working hours, which helped give a general timeline of suit completion and never left me in the dark on its progress. All communication was professional.
I'm incredibly satisfied with the completion time. My project did not have a set deadline, but the maker's website had an ETA of around 8 months listed for fullsuits, and mine was delivered well before then (4-5 months). The items were shipped as soon as they were completed via UPS Ground and arrived safely at my home within a week.
Outstanding!
I have been recommending friends & locals to this maker ever since I got to wear him for the first time. Not only is he visually accurate to the reference, but also super comfortable to wear, fits together perfectly, well-constructed, and overall adorable. I've taken him to cons, local events, public outings, etc. and always had a comfortable and good time wearing him. A very durable suit that can handle dancing and prolonged outings, compression under travel, and more.
I am completely satisfied with everything about the physical build of the project and the steps it took to get there. Absolutely worth the price I paid and I am so happy to be able to wear him for many years to come.
The head fits incredibly well. It is the comfiest suit head I've worn yet. It is roomy and comfortable to wear as well as easy to put on.
The snout is wide, giving a good airway through the mouth for breath-ability.
The vision is great with a minimal blind spot. I can see most things around me so long as they're not to my side and slightly behind me.
The head is lined and gives it a smooth feeling, no discomfort to the skin especially with a balaclava. I wear it without glasses since my current pair are too wide-framed to fit, but I'm confident there's enough room for smaller-framed glasses to fit. During the construction process, I was asked for specific measurements between my eyes, top of head to eye level, etc. and I believe those really helped ensure a personalized and comfortable fit.
It is also lightweight and easy to transport. I have vacuum sealed his head for travel and had no issues with it springing back into shape. The eyes are held in very strongly and I've had no instances of them popping out during the process.
The marking placement, expression, and shapes could not be better.
In the quote process, I was asked what kind of expression I would like and given the option to choose examples from my maker's gallery of past works, which let me see a wide variety of expressions across different species. I asked for a grumpy/snarky expression based on some of the other suits I had seen and absolutely love how it came out. The eyes/face aren't strictly one expression (ex. very angry, very sassy, etc.) which leads to a lot of flexibility in playing the character and posing for photos.
The face markings match the reference perfectly and are shaved wonderfully to accent their shape. The long, wolf-like cheek fur blends greatly into the shorter 'puppy' length fur of the face and I'm very satisfied with how his hair tuft turned out. The shaving is even across the entire head and different fur lengths are strategically incorporated to give a hybrid feel. All of the fur is soft to the touch, easy to brush, and all of the markings are symmetrical.
I believe this maker said they hand-sew all the face markings which is not only incredible technically but also looks crisp and beautiful on the suit.
The paint for the eyes is crisp, vibrant, and matches the reference beautifully. It is applied with care and has no splotches or fields that are difficult to see out of.
His teeth are made out of a very nice material and are pleasant to touch. His reference features a split/forked tongue that the maker portrayed wonderfully.
This is the first bodysuit I've ever worn and it fits me perfectly!
I provided a DTD for it and was worried it may not fit me if I happen to lose or gain weight between the time of ordering and the time of delivery, but it wasn't an issue at all. I let my friend try it on who's around 80 pounds less than me and it fit him as well with only a little bit of baggyness.
It is unlined which I prefer since I wear it with Underarmour.
This suit has a digi padding pillow as well that shapes my character wonderfully. The bodysuit is well constructed and easy to put on by myself if needed. It has two zippers at the ankles for the feetpaws to zip on, as well as a zipper from the neck down to the torso that is hidden behind white fur.
There is a small hole in the back designed for the tail to be pulled through.
It is very easy to store and comfortable to wear. I am able to dance in it for around 30 minutes at a time, the padding is the only part that tends to get hot while moving around a lot in it.
I gave the maker some freedom in regards to the specific spots/markings on my sona's body and I love the way they were interpreted! He has some features on his reference that reflect the stylistic preference of the artist that I was delighted to see translated into actual physical parts of the suit, namely the fur tufts on his elbows.
There are many different fur lengths used that all blend together to make a really striking appearance. The longer fur used on his shoulders, elbows neck, and legs gives a more rugged, wolf-like appearance, while the shorter fur on his arms and chest gives a more cuddly look. All of the fur is shaved evenly and works perfect together.
The markings are symmetrical and match the ones on the reference.
All of the fur is soft and easy to brush. The shorter fur requires more gentle brushing.
The digi padding adds the perfect volume to my character. It matches the rest of my body silhouette/looks even to the rest of the proportions of the suit and gives my sona a round and friendly look.
I was given swatches of the colors and lengths to approve before the bodysuit was constructed and it was great having that as a visual guide.
There is one detail missing, however it was a detail that I had only included on one of the reference sheets I provided (scar on the left shoulder). The maker had noticed this after shipping the suit out and reached out to me, but I ultimately was so happy with the look of the suit that I didn't mind it being missed. I'll just be changing my character lore to match it instead.
The handpaws are very soft, plush, and toony. I requested that they do not have claws.
Prior to this, I had only worn unlined handpaws that were less 'bapper' type than these, so it has taken some getting used to, but overall I really like them. They are lined, which sometimes makes them a bit tricky to get on if I've taken them off after wearing them for a while. I have a good range of motion in them and can do simple gestures and hold medium to large sized items.
I have very small hands and wrists but the fit is still snug and comfortable. The ends of the paws have a matching white cuff that gives a neat and finished appearance. I tuck the ends underneath the armsleeves and there is no skin visible when I do this.
I have not had any issues with popped seams or durability. They are to turn inside out and clean.
These paws are so incredibly cute! The beans are large and squishy, and the material is the perfect color to match my character. The fur is very soft and shaved short, but no backing is visible.
The tail is easy to wear and constructed in a very interesting way. Instead of a standard belt loop on the base of the tail, this tail features a hidden belt loop, located a half-inch or so away from the base. It is a small slot that is not apparent when being worn that is wide enough to fit a standard belt. I wear my tail with a stretch belt and it works great, whether partialing or in fullsuit.
It is very easy to move around and sit down with due to its size.
The tail is a cute nub-style tail. The fur is even and easy to brush. Since it is very small, there is not a ton of motion, but it bounces while walking/moving. The base of the tail is a denim/navy minky that matches the rest of the colors on the suit. I am happy with the fur colors used and how it matches the markings.
The feet fit very comfortably. They are not too tight or too loose. They take a bit to slide into, but once your foot is oriented, it is very soft to walk on and easy to navigate around in. Each foot features a zipper closure on top that connects to the bodysuit and can easily be attached by myself or with help from someone else. They are lined (I believe its neoprene?) and do not get hot at all. There has been a small seam that popped in the lining since I got them, but nothing unexpected in regards to standard wear-and-tear and easy enough to fix.
The pawpads on the bottom are vinyl and they are indoor feetpaws. I have worn them outside and cleaned them and the vinyl is very easy to clean. Since they are white feetpaws, I can't expect them to stay pristine forever, but cleaning them with Folex after use is easy and effective. None of the material on the bottom has chipped off or been damaged beyond standard dirt/dust.
The feetpaws are really cute! They have a very plush/stomper feel to them. When I first saw them out of the box, they looked huge, but they fit very proportionally with the rest of the suit.
The markings are translated expertly and the color of the zipper on the inside even matches the rest of the suit. The blue vinyl used on the bottom for the pawpads matches the handpaws.
The fur is shaved short and evenly, which blends very nicely from the fluffy thighs/legs. It is also easy to brush, but I am especially careful around the zipper and where the lining meets it.
