Wear Satisfaction

The head is very well ventilated and comfortable. There is a blind spot in the center which is to be expected with equine anatomy. Head is lined in a moisture wicking material and is very easy to slip on and off. Maker was made aware that I wear glasses and even my wider cat eye glasses fit well inside.

Visual Satisfaction

The head looks very cute and accurate to an equine headshape. I specifically chose a maker who had experience with Dutch Angel Dragons since they are comparable to horses and equine suit examples are a rarity. Shaving is even, seams well hidden. The appearance matches my reference.

Wear Satisfaction

Here is where it all goes wrong. I will fully admit, I had never made a DTD before so it didn’t fit quite right. The shoulders were a little tight and the arm sleeves were too short. I couldn’t left my arms directly above my head without pulling the whole thing up. Waist down everything fits fine.

The padding, however, is made of some satin-y type of material so it does not “stick” to the inside, instead it slides around inside the suit. The ankles and thigh padding slide out to the sides so I constantly had to stop and adjust it.

When I recieved my suit back from repairs (more on this below) the work was clearly rushed. The stitches were up to an inch apart, jagged, and I could easily fit two fingers into one stitch. The repairs were also done on the legs when I had requested the sleeves.

Visual Satisfaction

It looks very nice from the outside and I have recieved compliments for the digitigrade affect. Visually, FryedGoods’s work is solid. The construction leave much to be desired.

Hands and Feet

Wear Satisfaction

I was unaware I was receiving sock hooves. They are comfortable but get dirty quick since they are white. I wear compression socks with them to give my ankles some more support. I have years of experience with cosplay and the ups and downs cosplay shoes have so comparitively these were quite nice. The hooves were also comfortable. One sock hoof did pop a seam on the inside while putting it on.

Visual Satisfaction

Though cute, they did not match my reference at all. The eohippus is the oldest known ancestor of the horse and instead of a single or cloven hoof has small hoof tipped toes. My reference also notes these toes specifically as they are a very distinct feature of my species. My hooves were made cloven like a deer. I was not provided WIP photos to correct this mistake.

Wear Satisfaction

The tail is very comfortable and has a satisfying swing to it. It was able to take my friend pulling me with no damage.

Visual Satisfaction

It matches my character in appearance.

Product Satisfaction

How was your concept art realized?
Aside from the very incorrect hooves, it matches my reference.

How well does everything fit together and match up?
Visually my suit looks great and I am happy with it. Fit there are a few very easily fixable problems which is why I do not understand the main issue; the repairs and poor service.

Overall Project Quality
I feel the overall quality has been addressed. Now for the worst part of this transaction; the repairs.

I told FryedGoods after the convention about the problems I had with the sleeve length and inaccurate hooves. He told me to send them back for repairs and I did so in February. I had been left on read asking for updates and after tracking down his Etsy where he had been selling suit part commissions (and completing them while having my suit in his possession) I was finally able to get some answers. After two months of excuses about not affording shipping or having someone else pay shipping, I finally paid for shipping myself.

What I received is appalling. The sleeves were not lengthened, instead it was the legs. I did not know the legs were lengthened until I put on my suit and was jabbed in the ankle with a two inch long straight pin. I removed the pin and the addition on that ankle fell apart. The stitches were half an inch to an inch apart, jagged, and very clearly rushed. I could easily fit two fingers in one stitch. I was able to remove these shoddy additions in one piece with my cat’s nail clippers.

My hooves were not repaired and I was not given extra fur as promised in messages. I feel these repairs were done very quickly to get my suit out the door and no care was taken. I am very disappointed.

Purchase Process

Initial Contact
I searched for horse and Dutch Angel Dragon fursuits on Instagram and found the maker through there. I was given clear instructions as to what he needed to start the project.

Maker Response Time
Initially replies were quick. However after money changed hands that changed. I needed to pester him for updates and never got WIP photos until I asked. I actually didn’t know what my suit looked like completed until I got it in the mail as he never took a photo. Due to the lack of updates I ended up paying extra for priority mail as I was worried he would not make the deadline I had paid for (I paid a rush fee.)

After sending my suit back for repairs I went months being left on read. I had to message him on a main Instagram and finally his Etsy where he had been taking suit part commissions to get a response.

Maker Professionalism
He was very friendly in all contact but at times I felt like I was given excuses as to why very simple tasks such as pictures or paying for shipping couldn’t be completed. As mentioned above, I had to chase him down for any updates.

Project Completion Time
I paid a rush fee in early December to have the suit done in time for FC in late January. I was so worried by the lack of updates and very close deadline I ended up paying for two day priority shipping on top of the rush fee. I received my suit two days before FC.

I sent my suit back for repairs in February after communicating my problems with the maker. I received my suit back in September after months of excuses, ghosting, and paying shipping to get my own suit back only to find the atrocious repair job (see below.)

Final Comments
I wanted to leave a good review but after the excuses, ghosting, and unacceptable craftsmanship I cannot recommend this maker to anyone else unless serious changes are made to basic customer service. This was my very first full suit and I am left disappointed.
