I contacted the maker on Rednote, a Chinese social media, and she replied within a day with a quote.
I loved the communication in the first half of the commission process. Yaoyao (the main maker) usually reply within the same day and is very professional. She did not need a DTD and only needed measurements. After that, we moved to WeChat since I can pay through there. We even chit-chatted a little and agreed to hang out at cons.
However, during April, things started to get weird as her studio suddenly turned into a 3-person studio (never mentioned the other two people in any of her social media, even now). I was invited into a business group chat and got a picture of the bodysuit and tail, after that I stopped getting replys from them. I was a bit confused because I paid a rush fee to have my suit be finished during late April. And Yaoyao won't reply to anything I said on the personal dm ever after, when it's the end of May I asked how things are going, one of the person in the group chat will always say they are trying their best and pouring their hearts into each suit, I can let it be a decent answer for one or two time but everytime when I ask if the suit would be done soon the same person would reply that they are working very hard and a line similar to " Please be patient we are pouring our heart and soul into every project"
I want to add that we are both Mandarin speakers, so there will be no chance of translation error; it really makes me feel like it's a case of guilt tripping. Yaoyao almost completely stopped talking and only sent photos of the suit, which I don't mind, but it is definitely a massive contrast from before.
The suit was finished in June, two months later than my ETA. And I only got 10% of my rush fee back. Which is annoying
I received three boxes for this suit, and they arrived two days later.
Very disappointed. If I had to rate the fursuit from 1-10, it would be around 4 for the uncomfortable head, which is the most essential part of a suit. The bodysuit receives 10 points for appearance and 0 points for the Ribbon straps and zipper. Communication would receive a score of 2. I am not sure if they will accept overseas commission at this moment. I just wanted to put this experience out there. It's totally up to you if you wish to commission her in the future because of how amazing her suit looks.
Completely unwearable. Even though I provided my maker with my head measurements, it is way too big for my head until I adjust it. It doesn't move with my movement at all, and would straight up fall when I look up/down. After informing the maker, the maker said she (or they, as I'm not sure how many people are working in the studio). Included some carved foam inside the shipping box, and I had to do the padding myself, which was very confusing for me since the head was very neatly lined. If I had to do the padding, it would basically block all the lining. After using up all the foam they provided me and some extra padding I made myself, the lining was completely sealed.
(I also had to pick the foam out of the garbage cuz I thought it was just filling material for shipping. It also has writing on it and is oddly shaped; all of them look like remnants left over from making the suit.
I wasn't too mad since I had experience making suits, but I imagine it would be very frustrating if I didn't.
Absolutely nothing I can pick up on the visual. It is stunning and accurate to my reference sheet. The details are very well made. However, hot glue strings are showing through the eye mesh and nose. Ventilation was ok, the vision was also very good, no complaint on this
The zipper of the bodysuit has a very big zipper handle, and the neck fur can't hide it at all. I had to spray some hairspray on top of the spot so it doesn't show. I was confused that the shoulder straps of the suit were made with ribbons. I was worried about their stability, as I had imagined. On the third time wearing the suit for an event, both shoulder straps snapped and tore apart. I informed the maker about it, and they provided a video tutorial on how to reattach the ribbon. However, I still plan to change it completely when I have time.
The rest of the suit is absolutely amazing; the anatomy is correct, the colours are all accurate, and I especially love the shape of the digi leg. The bodysuit is super comfortable to wear otherwise, and it's also easy to walk and run in.
My hand paws have finger escape in them, so they are very flexible and easy to use. There is a tiny hole on one of the paw pads, but it's not really bothering me. I later came to realize that I had been secretly overcharged when I discovered that my friend, who also purchased a suit from them, had finger escapes and was charged 80 Yuan, but I was charged $100.
Nothing much I can say! they are pretty soft and cute.
So far, it has been the best part of the suit. Nothing broke, and it is easy to walk with. Pretty comfortable.
very cute!
Would you recommend this maker?
This means the reviewer would NOT recommend The Peerless Demon Studio (绝代之妖) unless they significantly change their practices.
I honestly don’t understand why this maker keeps guilt-tripping their clients instead of addressing problems. They always emphasize how “hardworking” and “detail-oriented” they are, which is far from the truth. When the straps on my suit snapped, instead of offering help asap they accused me if I was“wearing it wrong.” My friend finally had enough and posted a beware about their service. Instead of taking responsibility, the maker accused my friend of “destroying their business” and “bringing them negative thoughts,” even though there are multiple testimonials from other clients sharing similar issues.
The problems don’t stop there. One client even received their suit wrapped only in a sack, with no protective packaging at all. They also guilt-tripped my friend for being a “perfectionist” when, in fact, the maker made the pattern wrong, which delayed the suit by three months or more. Instead of owning the mistake, they framed it as though they were “actively communicating and changing it up because you expect perfection.” Now, the maker sends daily messages about how depressed they are, claiming that “everyone wants to make fun of them,” when in reality, clients are just holding them accountable. If the majority of clients were happy, why would so many of us feel the need to speak up?
To make matters worse, On their now-deleted price sheet, they highlighted “free shipping,” yet none of us—including myself—ever received it. Suits were quoted in an unprofessional and inconsistent way, with a nearly plain design charged at $2700 when their listed base price was $1500, and multiple clients were charged wildly different prices for the same add-ons. Combine all this with the unprofessional attitude I’ve personally experienced, and I can say this has been an extremely disappointing and uncomfortable experience.
