The head is comfortable. The lining on the inside is soft. It is somewhat of a loose fit and has a tendency to move around if you make a sudden movement. The head was bought pre-made in an auction, so the one-size-fits all fitment is understandable. Breathability, eyesight, and weight are all average. Hearing is very difficult with head.
I think the head looked better in person than the photos that I saw before purchasing it. The fur seems kind of cheap, but no significant problems yet. On close inspection, you can see where the fur was shaved too short and the backing material is visible. The eyes are very dark, but that appears to be typical with this fursuit maker. To my astonishment the black dots on the muzzle were airbrushed. I was very dissatisfied with this, so I cut them off and glued felt replacements.
The fitment of the body suit was very bad. I sent a duct-tape dummy to the maker for this commission, but the fitment of the body was far too small and tight. I could not lift my arms above my shoulders nor could I bend over. The first time I wore the body suit at a convention, several seams broke, even with only moderate activity. After the first 3-4 hours of fursuiting, there were 4-6″ rips in the shoulder seams, armpit seams had popped, and seams in the crotch had opened up. There was also a 1″ rip in the fur in the abdomen area. Seams were machine stitched, but the durability seemed a little sub-par. To my disappointment, the front zipper and zipper to attach the tail were loosely hand-stitched using a blanket stitch.
Outside appearance is fine. The neck is cut pretty low and is sometimes visible.
The feet paws are very good very comfortable and uses the sock-like construction. The hand paws also are comfortable and easy to put on and remove.
Feet paws look great!
I was happy that the maker said that he prefers 5-fingered hand paws when commissioning them. However, the construction is too big, and the paws look toony and clumsy. There’s also a large difference in the size of the sleeves of the body and the hand paws, and that makes it look like i’m wearing gloves.
I requested resin claws on the hands and feet, however, I did not receive either of those.
Tail is fine. It has a belt loop and zipper that attaches it to the body. I believe the tail is stuffed with poly-fil with some foam reinforcement at the base. The tail tends to twist to one side when wearing it. The zipper is well hidden when attached to the body. The tail zipper was hot glued to the fur and it began to separate at my second convention with the suit (8-10hrs of wear). I reattached the tail zipper by hand stitching it to the fur, and will hopefully see better results than the hot glue. The zipper that attaches the tail in the body suit is loosely stitched using a blanket stitch, and I think I will replace that in the future.
The tail looks great and very natural when attached. It is long and just barely does not drag the floor, which is great. It was a little thinner than I expected.
I even paid for some additional features, and did not receive them because the maker forgot. These payments were promptly refunded to me when I brought it up.
Would you recommend this maker?
This review has been marked with a negative rating.
This means the reviewer would NOT recommend Rum Wolf Studios unless they significantly change their practices.
I believe this maker was generally careless when constructing my suit. I detailed exactly what I wanted in my commission in a document that I sent to the maker. Some features that I listed there were ignored, such as the resin claws.
I had a multiple construction issues with my fursuit, and took on the repairs myself, because I believed that I could make better repairs than the maker. I informed the maker of all of my issues and we negotiated a partial refund where they shipped me enough fur to make a second bodysuit and repair my existing suit (value of about $350).
I will continue to fix the flaws that I find after each convention I go to.
