Overall

Initial ContactI initially contacted around July of 2021 when they had commission openings for fursuit parts, ordering paws and a tail. This would later be upgraded to a fullsuit around January 2022 (this is the date I will be using as the name starting point of our interactions since it's where the bulk of the work was done).

Maker CommunicationStarcane is extremely communicative with their clients! They post near daily WIPs and any potential delay updates in the server, along with regularly emailing clients along the way too for approval at specific points in the making process.
Their response time is also basically asap! I don't believe there was a time I waited over 24 hrs for an email response, with their telegram responses being even quicker.

Project Completion TimeEven with my suit being in que right after one of the makers in Starcane received top surgery, there were still near daily updates with work. My suit still being finished in 2-3 months once started!

Overall Project QualityI couldn't be happier with having Starcane as my first commissioned makers for a personal suit, and a fullsuit at that! They were able to work with new requests very efficiently and the outcome is something I am very in love with and will probably last a long while with how durable everything is proving to be. My expectations were blown out of the water and I will definitely be working with them again in the future!

Components

Head

Wear SatisfactionHead fits snuggly but in a comfortable way. Padding and lining is very well done and durable! I just need to get used to the weight since the head is a resin one (this was upon request since I also wanted a movable jaw and resin jawset). Due to the nature of the head and my character's design there isn't a whole lot of ventilation but, this was to be pretty expected. I usually just keep a fan in her mouth while suiting, removing it from time to time for pictures or such, and can stay pretty comfortable temperature wise with just that. Vision is also very good! As long as there is decent lighting I'm able to get myself around without a handler holding onto me pretty easily, even in crowds.

Visual SatisfactionI absolutely love how she turned out visually. Starcane even went the extra step to use NFTech fur for her mane and hair for the first time (upon request) and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. The paint job and color matching for the eyes is also wonderful, very vivid. All markings are symmetrical/match the ref and the shave job is super clean. The light airbrushing on her nose still looks great too even after a few gentle washes. No visible seems and no crusty fur in sight! Even her piercings (which were 3D printed by another artist) are secured tightly, namely the studs. I had to pry one off to replace due to it cracking from a tumble and it took quite a bit of elbow grease. They even provided me a second velcro tongue that's longer/sticks out of the mouth as a gift. Overall, clean work and I couldn't be happier!

One-Piece Body

Wear SatisfactionI am extremely satisfied with how the body fits! Very comfortable and very well shaped given the body type of my characters. The bodysuit is a drop crotch with large hip padding and some bust padding too. The zipper for access is at the front and is hidden extremely well when zipped up, and is just pretty easy to zip and unzip in general. Pockets are sewn into the inside of the suit with multiple zipper pockets for easier stuffing. The tail also attaches to the body via zipper and belt holes/loops.
I currently use polyfil to stuff the suit when being worn and it can get pretty heavy and warm over the course of the suit being worn (will be switching to mochi stuffing soon to see if it'll help with weight). But, this was to be expected with just how much padding was asked to be added to get the wanted shape for the legs/lower body. I honestly expected it to weigh more. Movement is also surprisingly good too. Bending down can be a bit of a struggle but, other than that I can still walk and sit without too much issue!
Even with her current wear time and some rather rough usage here and there I still have yet to have any tears or popped seams! Everything seems very cleanly made and durable.

Visual SatisfactionAll markings are perfectly symmetrical/match the given ref! Starcane was very attentive when picking out colors to match and provided a lot of options, along with being very responsive to any input I had on colors/furs.
The only small critique I have is that the diamond markings on her wrists are supposed to lay palm down but, tend to sit on the side of my wrist. This complaint is very minor though and I do not consider this as anything significant in the least, especially since a marking being right at the edge of a split (where the paw and arm meet/separate into two suit parts) can be finicky to begin with. A non-issue I didn't even feel the need to bring up to the makers since I was still very satisfied with the work!
There was very little done shaving wise to the body but, in the areas there were (such as matching fur length to a marking on the elbows) it was done very neatly/cleanly.
I also absolutely love the small details Starcane gave to the suit such as giving her tummy nipples and knee scar a slight squish to them! They even went above and beyond and edited the markings initially planned to match a small visual update I was giving my character at the time.
But my favorite part would have to be the shape. I was very specific with the shape of the body I wanted since it was a very significant part of my character's design, and Starcane absolutely nailed the drop-crotch pear-shape I wanted!

Upper Body

Wear SatisfactionThe separate arm sleeves fit very much like the arms on the body suit. With just as quality work as it! No complaints, everything is comfortable, durable, very cleanly crafted, and ventilation as expected!
There is no lining but, is a very easy part of the suit to clean, especially with the care guide they provided.

Visual SatisfactionMarkings are perfect an crisp! The elbow fur is shorter than the rest and Starcane was able to very nicely trim everything to a point where you wouldn't even notice. Everything matches the provided ref and I have no complaints!

Hands

Wear SatisfactionThe paws are quite honestly one of my favorite parts of the suit. Initially the paws fit very snuggly but, like a new pair of shoes, they were very quickly broken into and very comfortable. Once again, the paws are not lined but, Starcane provides very clear and concise cleaning instructions with their suits (tailored to any unique features of said suits, such as my resin claws) so, that's not an issue in the least.
The paws have been the most worn part of my suit and are beginning to pill up on the inside but, again, outside of just that normal fabric wear, I still haven't gotten any popped seams anywhere!

Visual SatisfactionAbsolutely love everything about how the paws look! Paws were the very first fursuit parts I was looking for and what made me specifically chose Starcane initially. Their 5-finger paws were perfect and they were able to work with my request for large, resin claws too.
These were the first suit parts I ordered from Starcane before ultimately deciding to upgrade to a fullsuit. They were very patient with me being a newcomer to ordering fursuit parts and helped me choose fur and minky colors, and nailed the resin color for the claws. I still couldn't be happier with how they look!

Tail

Wear SatisfactionNo complaints! I asked for an EXTREMELY large tail and Starcane absolutely delivered. They were able to make it the requested 6 ft, floor dragger that can double as a bean bag chair perfectly! The zipper to attach to the bodysuit is also done very cleanly so attaching and detaching is very easy! The backing to wear the tail attaches to my belt/body is very rigid and holds itself to me while wearing it very nicely! And even with the extra roughage of being a heavy floor dragger there still hasn't been any tears or popped seams.

Visual SatisfactionPerfect, cannot complain about how perfectly long and chunky Starcane was able to make the tail to match my ref! The spikes along her back also hold shape very well and the bands of each stripe are very clean.

Feet

Wear SatisfactionThese are my very first pair of fursuit feet so I'm still getting used to how big they are, feels like wearing clown shoes a bit but, as is the nature of most fursuit feet. They are very comfortable though! There is essentially a "sock" of lining in each foot specifically made to fit my feet via a DTD that was made. And even with much outside use everything has stood up very very well! I had even accidentally pressed something pretty rigid against one of the feet's toes for awhile when I stored them away at one point. When I pulled them back out they had a "dent" in the toe foam and the rubber sole was warped slightly. Was able to get everything straightened back out and even with that extra roughage everything still held up phenomenally. Very comfy, very durable, and very breathable!

Visual SatisfactionGreat! Starcane even asked me a handful of questions throughout making the feet (like animals they could look up to reference for feetpaw shape) to make sure everything was as accurate as could be.
Some of her resin claws have had their tips ground down due to being scraped against cement while walking around but, visually nobody would really notice that unless they were staring very intently at my feet.

Special FeaturesMy suit was the very first time Starcane used NFTech fur. I requested it be used for her hair and mane since I like the longer pile look over normal shag. But, even with it being their first time using the materials I am more than satisfied! The research they put in to make sure the materials was used correctly, along with making sure they provided in-depth cleaning instructions for it too. Stellar work and client help!
