I found King Krow under the name Karasukeii on instagram just after commissioning another maker. I fell in love with their style and added them to my personal list of people to hopefully commission in the future. My previous commission fell through since the maker unfortunately ghosted me, so I went and asked Sukeii for a quote on their insta! Kind of a blessing in disguise really. They do state that their instagram is now a gallery only, so they may not respond to dms through there anymore.
Sukeii made sure I never felt ignored and kept me updated. We started communication over instagram, and switched to twitter. Then Sukeii made a discord server for King Krow suit owners, so we migrated to there. They were never so professional that they seemed unwelcoming, which I very much appreciate! They really care about their clients and the art they create.
My initial completion estimate was April-May 2021. The actual completion date wasn't until over a year later for a total of 17 months after payment. Honestly, I didn't mind! I was aware of my place in the queue, and I was confident in Karasukeii's ability to deliver a quality product. I don't really believe in rushing artists. Even the deadline I set in place for FWA 2022 was a pretty soft deadline.
I am very happy with the overall product! I'm not at all what you'd consider rough to my belongings, but everything seems sturdy. The suit is adorable and I get people asking for my maker all the time! I'm so proud to tell them that it's King Krow and point them to Sukeii.
Overall pretty good! The head is lined, plush and comfy. The vision isn't as bad as you would think but I do have to turn my head to see. The ventilation is definitely lacking though. Gets very stuffy very quick since the mouth is mostly closed and pupils are small. Keeping the mouth open with a prop is usually enough to get the job done. It's a little on the big side but most sliding around is fixed by just wearing a balaclava. The cowl is not lined, and the fur backing is quite scratchy, so sometimes taking the head off and putting it back on multiple times in a short amount of time (like filming tiktoks) can scratch my skin to the point of leaving it red and sensitive.
I LOVE this head. I love King Krow's style. I've gotten so many compliments on how cute it is! I love the big-toothed dopey smile so unbelievably much.
The markings: They match up for the most part, but I really wish that the spot around the eye was a bit more pronounced. The eye spot + smaller lower spot was a reference to my first ever OC, so I'm a bit sentimental. It looks pretty wavey instead of round and can only be seen at all at specific angles. In WIP photos the spot was more clear. Sewing it down and shaving it just really did a number on it. I also wish the eyebrows were more symmetrical. They start and end at different places on the head and are different sharpness and thickness from one another to a noticeable degree. When I first pointed out that I'd like them evened up, I was told they'd be fixed. The second time I brought it up, I was kinda brushed off so I left it alone. The muzzle spots were almost entirely forgotten, and were added last minute. Sadly, it shows. None of the spots match each other in size, placement, or shape. They're also noticeably smaller than agreed upon, but I don't mind that as much, especially since the small size makes it hard to see both sides at once and therefore hides the asymmetry.
The eyes: This maker traditionally makes the 'socket' of the follow-me eye black instead of white. Totally up to personal taste, but I felt that it dampened the 3d effect. I asked for them to be changed to white instead, but it was just foam and so was easy to paint white myself. Upon painting the 'sockets' white, I discovered that the eye lining wasn't very carefully installed, which was previously hidden by the black-on-black combo. One eye's lining is loose/wrinkly in some areas, and the other eye isn't lined quite all the way around, as if the cut strip wasn't long enough but was not redone.
The fur: Everything is shaved pretty evenly as far as I can tell. Very happy with the colors and lengths. And, I'm glad to say there are virtually no bald spots! There's a little one right in front of the blue eye, and another right above the same eye where you can see straight through to the foam. I have noticed that it's a lot stiffer and more fragile than my other suit's fur, with scratchy backing to boot. I was told the fur is from BigZ though, so I'm hesitant to call it a lower quality. I'm definitely no expert on faux fur.
Misc: There's no visible glue, and rarely visible thread or seams. You can feel a lot of glue in the mouth around the teeth but none is visible from what I've seen. A removable+posable tongue was agreed upon, but was forgotten and a non-posable one was sewn in. Even though I was really looking forward to the posable tongue, I don't think I'd change it since the blep is just so darn cute. The nose is pretty crooked, but mine is too! So I actually like it a lot.
The sleeves are nice! I've never worn fursuit sleeves before so didn't know quite what to expect, but they fit me really well! They're lined almost all the way down, but none of the backing touches my skin since everything that's unlined is placed over the paw.
Markings are accurate, and shaving job is nicely done. I will say though that the arms are shaved to a shorter length than the paws are, which makes the transition from sleeve to paw more obvious.
These paws are lined, and very comfortable. Obviously puffy paws don't allow for much dexterity, but these aren't bad at all! They fit me perfectly. The claws were forgotten, but I don't mind. The finger escapes were also forgotten, which I'm a bit disappointed about since it would make filming tiktoks or adjusting stuff in a pinch much easier.
I love these paws! King Krow's paw shape was part of the reason I fell so in love with their suits. They're accurate to the ref minus the missing claws. I asked for the palm's fur to be shaved up a little, and was told it would be done, but it was forgotten. Definitely not a big deal though.
Very easy to wear! Not much to say, just easy and delightful!
This tail is adorably bouncy! I get so much wag for each little movement. It's the perfect size and markings are accurate! I can't keep myself from wagging when I've got it on!
They're very comfy, fully lined, and like stepping into pillows! I'm able to walk in them for pretty long stretches of time, but to say they fit me well would be a stretch. It's hard to describe, but I'll try my best. Disclaimer that I gave the maker my exact foot measurements, not a general shoe size. It feels although there is a bit too much room above my foot, so I have to raise my foot more than I should in order to move the feet at all. There's also a good 1.5 inches of room at my heel (or toes depending on where my foot has slid to), making them slide around more than what I'd describe as comfortable. If the ankle piece didn't go as high as it does, they'd definitely slip off. Now onto the REALLY hard to describe part.
When stepping into the hooves, it's like your foot hits a platform, something like EVA foam covered in plush at about the halfway point of the hoof's height. This platform doesn't go quiiiite to the edges, so when walking, due to the extra room causing my feet to slide around, I find my toes slipping off the front of the platform and into the plush of the rest of the hoof.
This isn't too egregious, just very awkward. I find myself tensing my toes or shuffling my feet just to move forward.
I. LOVE. these. hooves. King Krow makes THE best cloven hooves of any fursuit maker and I will die on this hill. They exceeded all expectations! I love the shape of the front toes and I adore the little toes on the back. If your sona has hooves, commission King Krow!!
Antlers: I HAVE to call special attention to these antlers. They exceed all expectations and are ingenuitive as hell. They don't flop around despite being plush, and are fully removable with 3 different sizes. This was very important to me, as I personally wanted to show the growing/dropping of deer antlers as time passes. I am in love with these things. I'm almost sure this was Sukeii's first time with something like this too, so the fact that they nailed it on their first try is even more praise worthy. They're secured with bottle caps, so sometimes they can be a bit of a pain to get on since they won't come out straight the first time. Other than that they're perfect!!
Ears: The ears are posable using wire! I love that!!
Would you recommend this maker?
This means the reviewer would recommend Karasukeii.
It’s worth being said that this partial would have been completed ~5 months earlier had it not been for a change of design. It had been a year since payment, and everything was done except the head. I decided to redesign the head of the character and give him a new identity as I had changed a lot within that year. Sukeii was paid an additional $300 for the change in markings and an additional 5 months (FWA deadline) to complete the head.
Overall, I’m very happy with the suit despite its minor flaws! Very happy is probably an understatement even! I adore this suit!! And I am very thankful that my commission was accepted by such a talented maker. I know exactly where I'll be turning to if I need parts, repairs, refurbs, etc. King Krow is the way to go! <3
