Wear Time~24 hours Informed Maker of IssuesNo; I experienced some unexpected weight loss between ordering the suit and receiving it, and maker always said she could make adjustments if ever needed, but simply adding a bit more padding on my end was enough to make up the difference. I have no doubt that proper adjustments would have been made if I required them. She was one of the first people I contacted when I started shopping for a suit, as she opened up for a commission slot within a month of asking for a quote. Contacted via PM on Twitter, and received an answer same-day. I filled out a provided quote sheet on Google Forms. When I decided to go through with the commission and was chosen to be next in the queue, I was added to a telegram group for updates. Heck was friendly and easy to contact throughout the process. Maker CommunicationVery satisfied with communication via both twitter and telegram. I received regular updates on the queue and on my own commission via the telegram group, and specifications/measurements/payment discussions were conducted via PM on telegram. Provided she’s not at a con (which she announces in the group, as well as when she needs a few days off from working on suits), she usually got back to me within the same day. Heck is a fun and friendly individual who maintains professionalism wherever it’s needed. While the telegram group was also available for casual chatting, I was always contacted directly (either through @ or PM) whenever an update was available for my turn in the queue. I felt like my project was important and that she was enjoying the process of making it. I never felt like I was imposing when I asked questions, and offers to make adjustments where needed were made often. She listened to my requests and implemented them to my satisfaction. Project Completion TimeInitially the ETA was for early winter 2022 (January or February), but was eventually pushed back to spring and then summer 2022 due to setbacks with clients ahead of me in the queue. The maker has since adjusted how many projects she takes on at a time. I did ask for the head to be sent first if possible, as I wanted to wear it to an event at the end of May 2022. Heck was able to finish the head by then and send it out while the rest of it was being finished. Project was eventually completed and received in mid-August 2022. Though the ETA was pushed back, the explanations I received were understandable and I honestly thought that early 2022 was a very quick turnaround time. About a year from initial commission to completion is completely understandable and fine with me. I never felt like I was being jerked around about when I’d receive it, and I really appreciate the accommodations she made with shipping the head before the rest of it was finished. Again, communication was clear and friendly throughout. The pieces came in just a few days after initial shipment on both occasions in May and August 2022. Tracking was provided via UPS. Overall Project QualityI couldn’t be happier with the quality of the costume I received! I’ve worn it around once a week for photos since it arrived, and it makes me so happy to see how good it looks in real life and in photos. My friends and family are nothing but complimentary about how cute the costume is. I asked for the arrangement of separate pieces specifically for convertibility and convenience, so I could go out with just the head and hands if I wanted to, wear the arms or not depending on my shirt choice, or wear everything. Being able to choose which pieces I wear makes it so easy to adjust according to my outfit plans, the weather, and the occasion. It looks fantastic no matter what I do. It absolutely was worth the price of commission, given the quality of results. I also received some extras with the suit, including stickers and a bandana with the extra lining fabric (bandana pictured with suit). I haven’t had the chance to wear the full suit to a con yet, but I don’t foresee any issues going forward. When people compliment my suit, they’re in disbelief that this is Heck’s first pig that they’ve ever made. The face turned out so darling, and Heck has a real eye for translating designs to real life. I have no doubt this suit will last me for years to come, and I feel such joy every time I wear it! Components Head Wear SatisfactionPerfectly sized to be snug enough to move but big enough to be incredibly comfortable. Has ventilation through eyes, mouth, and even nostrils, so I don’t feel constricted or too hot. Vision is also good through both eyes and mouth (naturally there’s not much peripheral vision, but this is entirely expected). Head base is made of soft foam, and is therefore compressible and not brittle. Side note, on a recent trip I took, it packed very nicely and easily in a carryon-sized hard case and sprung out perfectly fine. Head is lined with neoprene, though more often than not, I wear a balaclava with it to keep my hair contained and to absorb sweat. Visual SatisfactionCompletely adorable, symmetrically shaped, precisely what I asked for. Included the hairstyle and split hair colors, asymmetrical ear positions, eyebrow shape, and beauty marks from the reference sheet. The tusks are perfectly sized and positioned to match the reference. Shaving is even and tapered well from the snout to the cheeks, with no backing visible anywhere. Fur is easily smoothed with hands or brushed out with a slicker brush. I chose the follow-me toony eyes, and I’m so glad I did. The eyes view and photograph from a wide variety of angles and the included eyelids make all types of expressions possible. I am a part of a telegram group for Heck’s fursuit commissions, and the client before me in the queue had a design with round, chubby cheeks. I expressed how cute that was and noted I wanted a similar shape for my suit. I was obliged and the face turned out even better than I expected. Hands Wear SatisfactionSlightly snug in the first few fingers and loose in the last two. The first two fingers and the thumb on each hand are made of different material, so that’s not unexpected. Once they’re on, they’re comfy enough and do the job. I like that they are long enough that I can roll my shirt sleeves up a little bit if I want to. Movement is a little clumsy due to difference in fit, but I am still able to hold items, pose my hands, open doors, and adjust some things on my own. Hands are not lined (again, lining was not requested) so I usually wear thin spandex gloves with them. I also asked for a pair of fur sleeves for my arms, as it is a 3/4 suit and did not come with a top. The sleeves are connected with elastic and are plenty comfortable, though slightly loose. Again, my weight loss made them a bit loose, but they also had to have some room available to allow the cuffs to go over the top of the hands. Visual SatisfactionHands and arms are both as expected from how they look on the reference sheet. There is sometimes a small gap between the arm sleeves and the gloves, but it is easily covered up or closed if needed with a bracelet or cuff accessory. Everything is otherwise symmetrical, shaving is even with no backing shown, and the arms allow me to wear short-sleeve tee shirts if I want. Lower Body Wear SatisfactionDigitigrade legs have included padding, suspenders, and adjustable waistband. I did lose some weight unexpectedly between making my duct tape dummy and receiving the finished suit, but I was able to adjust the size with the waistband and suspenders well enough. I also added padding in the back to compensate, and now the fit is absolutely perfect. The result looks fabulous from the outside and is so comfortable/easy to move around in. Waistband is also lined with an adorable cotton fabric with pigs printed on it. This same fabric was used to make the leg padding, hoof lining, and glove/arm edges. Construction is strong with blanket stitches throughout. No worries about anything popping or coming apart. Interior is not lined (lining was not requested), but wearing leggings underneath makes it perfectly comfortable. Airflow is also decent for the type of costume it is, so I don’t get overheated wearing it. Visual SatisfactionLegs look great when worn, achieving a curvy shape that was present on the ref sheet. No unexpected or weird seams, and the tiny hooves in the back of the ankles are exactly as I wanted. The shape is clearly digitigrade and reads well up close and from afar. I didn’t require that Heck include the back stripes for the pants, as it’s a 3/4 suit and would be covered by a shirt most of the time, but they were included regardless and I appreciate that! Fur looks great, brushes easily with a slicker brush, no complaints about the length or consistency. Tail Wear SatisfactionTail includes an elastic loop so it can be worn with a belt. Not too heavy or unwieldy and doesn’t drag on the ground. Easily worn with the suit pants, without the pants, or over both the suit pants and clothes. Visual SatisfactionCute and Moomin-like, as requested. I was also asked for what shape I wanted the tail, (s-curve, single curve, straight, etc). I went with a gentle s-curve and it wags in an appealing manner. Shaving is all good and the tuft looks lovely. Feet Wear SatisfactionHooves are separate from the pants and fully lined with cotton fabric. I asked for outdoor hooves, so the bottoms are made of floor mat material. I included a pair of slide sandals with my duct tape dummy to be placed inside the hooves. The hoof pieces are large, but my feet fit well in them because the sandals aren’t impeded by the lining. I never feel as if I’m going to slide out of them on accident. They are comfortable and allow me to walk normally, and I don’t feel like I’m about to trip over my own feet. The lining makes it so my feet don’t get too sweaty. Visual SatisfactionHooves are very cute and symmetrical and match reference sheet. The bottom of the pants are cut in a way that allows a smooth transition between them and the hooves, so the overall effect is consistent and looks fairly natural.
