Very easy! I messaged Nijak on Twitter in October 2022 after a friend recommended her to me (I was looking at a maker based on Europe) and got a quote very quickly.
Nijaks Communication has been excellent from the start. I was very nervous about that, having heard many bad stories about makers with bad communication before. I was added to her Telegram group and received updates for not just my own suit but for all her projects. Whenever I had questions/messaged her privately I got responses in under 24 hours. The communication was exactly how I hoped it would be.
I waited 8 months for the completion of my suit which was about the time I expected. After "missing" the ETA I got (which was around April 2023 if I remember correctly) I just hoped it would be done in time for my first furry con at the end of June 2023. I ended up getting the suit DURING the duration of the con, which was super exciting.
Every "delay" was communicated clearly.
(I say "missed" and "delay" but it was clearly stated that Nijak doesn't work with set deadlines and as an artist myself I know that ETAs are to be taken with a grain of salt)
The overall quality of my suit WAY exceeded my expectations. All the parts fit together perfectly and they are done so well and thought through. It's easy to put on without help (even if it takes some time to get all the parts on) and given the restraints that naturally come with wearing a fursuit the mobility wearing it is still pretty great! I can imagine I'd have an easier time walking in the feet if they were a little tighter but that's probably the only thing I feel could be improved.
It's very comfortable to wear, very snug and the fabric used to line the inside feels very nice! Due to the snug fit I swear very easily – but that was to be expected.
I could not be happier! The head looks exactly – or even better – than I expected it to turn out. Nijak has done an excellent job on capturing my characters essence. The symmetry is top notch! I am especially impressed with the work on the hair – I didn't know it was even possible to do it the way I drew it on my ref sheet. I am amazed to this day by the craftsmanship.
They also fit very comfortably, due to being lined they make my hands sweat a lot and once I've taken them off it's a bit tricky to put them back on due to my sweat.
They look great! I went with a 5-Finger paw with no pawpads which I know is a very unusual request for a fursuit, but I am very happy with how they turned out! The shaving on the palms make them look like a perfect mix between human hands and rabbit paws.
Extremely easy to attach and very lightweight for its big size. I rarely feel it (until people step on it. The curse of floor dragger tails!)
Despite it getting stepped on a LOT at cons not a single seam has ripped yet and I never had any problems cleaning dirt from the neon green tips!
I am very satisfied with the look of the tail! In some positions it looks a little silly (like a palm tree) due to how the tip is made but when it lays flat/hangs down it looks just like how it's supposed to look.
They fit like slippers – although they are slightly too big. Nijak does Uni-Size Sock Feet and I can't properly walk in them without wearing either thick socks or several sock layers, because otherwise they are a little too lose and shuffle around. Fortunately that's an easy fix though.
Same as with the rest I am very satisfied with how they look! The only thing I'd ask to be done differently in retrospect would be where the claws are attached – while they seem perfectly placed, the ashphalt I've walked on had to disagree. The claws on the feet unfortunately hit the ground a lot (especially due to the fact that due to the size of the feet I tend to shuffle around a lot) so the claws will probably be the first thing I'll have to get replaced in the future.
I got two tongues for my fursuit, attached with magnets. I didn't even know I'd get two variations until I got the suit! It made for a bigger variations of expressions which I am very fond of.
I also got a set of Eyelids which I specifically commissioned so I can change the expression from regular/happy to smug/evil. Fortunately it so happened that If I use the eyelids the other way around I also get a stoned/sleepy expression! This has made my fursuit so versatile – I absolutely love it.
Would you recommend this maker?
This means the reviewer would recommend Nijak Play Art.
Working with her was an absolute pleasure. The communication was perfect, and so is the result of her breathtaking work. There has not been a single second where I regretted going with her as my fursonas maker.
