Head

Wear Satisfaction

The head is extremely light-weight and comfortable to wear; everything is completely smooth, soft, and squishy. It’s actually lighter than any of my other fursuit heads, despite being much larger! There are no hard hot glue bumps in or out of the head, and the fit is good. At first it seemed a bit loose and would slip around a bit, but after wearing it with a balaclava, the fit was perfect. This also has the added benefit of keeping sweat out of the suit head as the balaclava makes the perfect extra barrier. I highly recommend anyone with an AF suit to wear a balaclava with it.

It is very well made with detailed lining, sewn smoothly into the mouth and eye holes even. There is no exposed foam showing what-so-ever, even around the eyes.
It is lined with my own custom starry pattern printed on sport lycra. It is very smooth and comfortable to wear, and looks awesome when you look at the inside of the head.

Ventilation is great, the mouth is very large and open, fitting perfectly around my lower face. The entire muzzle is hollow, much more hollow than I’m used to on other fursuits, which allows more air flow. No complaints about ventilation at all!

Vision is quite standard as far as fursuits are concerned. There is a blind spot in the middle, no worse than what I’m used to. I can see well.

Visual Satisfaction

I am extremely happy with the appearance of the head. As far as I’m concerned, the concept I drew was matched perfectly, down to the shape of the cheeks, the angle and size of the ears, the size of the muzzle, the eyes, the tongue, everything matches spot on. The only minor difference between the artwork and fursuit head is the way the ear is folded on only one edge, which was something fully discussed between us and a decision I personally had made to achieve a more plush-like appearance.

The symmetry is perfect, I cannot find any issues with it personally. The shaving is great as well, very smooth, all of the markings are crisp and clear, nothing is uneven or trimmed too short. Overall, the appearance is great, and I have no complaints about the head.

Body

Wear Satisfaction

The body fits very well, and is comfortable once put on. Putting it on is a bit of a struggle, which I expected since it is a plush fursuit. The arms and hands are attached!
With all of the padding, it was sometimes a tight squeeze to get the zipper up. The big legs & poofy chest padding were making my movements feel stiff, and I brought up this concern to the maker. We discussed it a bit and decided that removing some of the polyfil from the legs and chest might make it easier to wear- and it did! It is now much lighter, easier to put on, and a lot easier to move around in too.

As far as the quality is concerned, it is very well sewn and neat. All of the seams are very clean and trim and there are no obvious construction marks or messy seams. I have not popped any seams and I don’t expect to any time soon. Everything seems sturdy.

All of the padding is also lined with my custom printed starry fabric, which makes the inside look really cool and special. The suit is VERY WARM to wear- but again, this is something I was fully aware of going into the purchase, as a plush suit is extra padded. This is no fault of the maker, it’s just the nature of the costume style. I have combated this issue with a cooling vest, which helps tremendously!

Visual Satisfaction

Appearance wise, everything is great! I was really concerned with making sure I didn’t look like a bobble-head, as I’m under 100 lbs and I knew that AutumnFallings heads tend to be on the larger size. I expressed these concerns with the maker, and she did a great job of padding it out to make sure I looked very proportionate and plush. I love the way the arms and legs are shaped.

Everything is spot-on to the concept art, even the exact shapes of the markings. The furs they picked out are great, really soft! Softness was very important to me, as I wanted my character to be a huggable plushie.

Special Attachments and Features

This suit features a much more padded interior than most suits, with fully padded chest, legs, arms, and hands. The padding is all carefully integrated and sewn into the suit, with the exception of the thighs/rear/knees, which is all one giant piece that folds around the body and can be removed. I’m very impressed with the shapes and quality of everything.

Around the neck and shoulders, there is some bias lining to prevent the shoulders from stretching out, which I appreciate, and it looks very nice too! There is even a little tag that says “brought to life by AutumnFallings”.

There’s also the tag!!! The giant plush tag on the right hip is one of my favorite parts. It was custom printed on silk and features my “NeonSlushie” logo on one side, and washing instructions, materials, a QR code, and “Made with love by AutumnFallings” on the back. It’s adorable, and the perfect finishing touch to really make my costume say “plushie”.

Hands and Feet

Wear Satisfaction

The feet are possibly one of my favorite parts about the costume. The way they are constructed is very clever, they are fully stuffed with polyfil, lined with the same starry pattern lycra, with a gel shoe insert in the bottom of them, under the lining. They’re lightweight, squishy, and offer similar support to a shoe thanks to the insert (but much more comfy!) I LOVE the feet paws! Each even has a R & L tag so I easily know which is which.

The hands are fully padded with no articulation, but this is what I wanted. They are super squishy & conceal the shape and feeling of my hands completely, so I can give the best plush hugs!

Visual Satisfaction

I love the way both look! As with everything else, they are a great match to the concept art. AF even used a thick string like a shoelace to create the separation between the fingers and toes, it really adds a nice finishing touch.

Special Attachments and Features

Since the hand paws are attached to the bodysuit, I requested some sort of hand escape on them. Each has a small, very well-hidden zipper that allows me to put on the rest of my fursuit even with the arms and paws on. I do, however, need help zipping up the final paw, but this is something I expected. Still, being able to put on all of my plush suit by myself minus one paw zipper is not bad! I’m very impressed with the zipper color, which is the exact color of the surrounding fur.

Tails

Wear Satisfaction

The tail is sewn onto the bodysuit which makes it very easy to wear. It’s also extremely waggy and has a great movement to it. Wearing it feels nice and I barely notice its there.

Visual Satisfaction

The shape of the tail is perfect! They asked me lots of questions about how I wanted it to look and even sent me a WIP of the pattern to make sure I was happy with the shape.
The tail is made with extra long fur so its super fluffy and cute. I love the shape and how it moves.

Wings

Wear Satisfaction

The wings are lightweight thin foam sewn onto the bodysuit. I have little to say about how they feel when worn, as I cannot even feel them!

Visual Satisfaction

They’re so cute! The shape of them is exactly what I had drawn on the concept art, no complaints there. They are also made of minky, as I had requested.

I had asked about them having top-sewn accents across them, and she gave it a try, but unfortunately it just was not visible on the final product. Not a problem at all, as that was a very minor detail and not anything important to the costume. I appreciate the fact that she tried several options to make it work first, that meant a lot to me. I fully understand that hand-made costumes have limitations on what can be done.

Overall

Product Satisfaction

How was your concept art realized?
In my opinion, I really think the concept art was matched perfectly. I can’t really think of anything I would have changed!

How well does everything fit together and match up?
Overall, I think the appearance of the costume is perfect. Everything fits, everything looks streamlined, the legs properly cover the feet, the neck properly covers the shoulders, etc.
It is the exact quality and look I expected when commissioning AutumnFallings.

Overall Project Quality
I am incredibly happy with my costume, every single thing about it. I can’t think of much more to say than that, I think all of my above answers speak for the quality of my fursuit. I feel very fortunate to have this amazing piece of artwork.

Purchase Process

Initial Contact
They opened on January 1st, with a commission form on their website. Easy enough! I heard back from them very quickly after they closed a few days later. They accepted my offer, and I paid in full the same day.

Maker Response Time
Very satisfied. I did not often have to contact them early on in the wait-process, as I knew my fursuit would not be worked on for a while. But any time I did need to contact them, it was very easy to do so, and I never waited more than an hour or two for a response. Some of our initial contact was through email, but a lot of the discussion of details was done through telegram once the build began.

Maker Professionalism
I am very satisfied with the level of professionalism & service I was provided. She was always kind, and clear about what she was working on or if there were any delays in production.

Once my fursuit was coming up in their queue, we started to discuss materials, and they even sent me swatches of all of the fabrics they would use for the suit.

When production started on my suit, I was in near-constant contact, and was sent dozens of WIP pictures daily. I was asked questions about how I wanted things to look, and my feedback was taken into account.

Project Completion Time
I knew going into this purchase that it would take a while to complete. I estimated about a year, and I was correct. Personally, I was okay with this wait time for the quality of costume I received, and figured if it was completed sooner than expected, that would just be a bonus.

I was not given a due date, but AF has a trello page that was very clear. I could watch as stuff was being worked on and completed, as well as see my place in the queue. They also have a telegram channel for their current customers, where WIPs were posted. It was nice to see what was being worked on, and it made the wait time go by much faster.

The suit was shipped right after it was completed, and it arrived very quickly and it was packaged well. It came with a big goodie bag that included a letter with a drawing of my character, several stickers of their logo, a “Certified AutumnFallings Fursuiter” badge, a magnet, a fur brush, a light-up paw necklace, some candy, and a few business cards.

Final Comments
While yes, AutumnFallings has a long wait time & a high cost, I did not feel either of these things detracted from the overall experience. The quality of the costume is apparent and I feel like I have a very special creation in my possession. I could not be more thankful for it.

I would definitely recommend AF to those who have the budget and patience for it. I know it’s not for everyone. I’m glad I did it, though.

Thank you for reading ♡
