Overall

Initial ContactThe maker is a friend, and contacted me directly about opening for commissions, as I had expressed my wish to commission him for years. I sent an e-mail requesting a quote, and it all went very smoothly from there.

Maker CommunicationThe maker is a friend, so there is a friendship relationship between us. However, when it came to discussing the features of the suit, pricing, etc, he was very professional and friendly and I can definitely recommend him to others. I also insisted on no discounts, so I paid full price for the suit, and added a small tip on top.

Project Completion TimeI was aware of a somewhat long waiting time for the suit, but once he started working on it, he kept sending me updates about it. The ending date was scheduled to be a fursuit walk in Copenhagen, so I traveled there, picked up the suit and went for my first suitwalk too. The suit was finished 1-2 months before this date, so it was definitely finished on time.

Overall Project QualityI am very happy with the quality of this project. I have been friends with this maker for years before I commissioned him, and my decision to do so has been there almost since the beginning, only coming to fruition in 2021. It looks amazing, it feels amazing, both in terms of comfort and in terms of confidence inside the suit, which for me is really important, especially considering my previous suit, which made me incredibly self conscious about its quality. This suit gives me the confidence to go out and make people smile, and for me that is priceless.

The modifications and repairs done to the suit have only improved it, and I can only but praise the maker for being so helpful with deciding what's best for the good care and look of the suit.

As for the style, it fits very nicely with the rest of the suits by Creature Critter Suits, a style which I think is becoming more and more identifiable.

Components

Head

Wear SatisfactionThe head is very comfortable, it was built with the intent of allowing glasses to be worn, so it's not as much of a tight fit, and it allows for some wiggle room. For me it's a worthy trade-off, I only have to adjust the position of the head occasionally, and in return, I can see much better.

The interior was lined with stretch jersey, with aquatic designs. It absorbs sweat pretty well, and as always, requires a deeper cleaning after being used at a convention or before storing. The maker has advised me on the best cleaning practices. This head is unfortunately not water washable, however all of the current heads by the maker are washable.

The ventilation is appropriate for a fursuit, but since I wear glasses underneath, they tend to fog up easily when performing more demanding physical activities. There is enough space to install a fan, which I plan to do in the near future.

The vision is as good as any other fursuit head, with a small blind spot in the middle. I have to turn my head slightly to be able to see in front and also down.

Visual SatisfactionThe head looks stunning, the combination of the horns and the mane really completes the look of the character, especially because the base species (dolphin) does not have any fur, and it's therefore quite hard to get right in a fursuit. All the markings are symmetrical, and I love the little details like in the maw, the teeth and the tongue.

The shaving and the sewing are very even, which is especially important because this character is supposed to have no fur, therefore the fur is also shaved short.

The fur feels very good, it's soft and I brush it regularly to keep this appearance and feel for as long as the suit will last in my hands.

The expression is toony and happy, but not too happy, which is perfect for my needs. With the magnetic eyelashes I can change the expression as much as I want, and depending on the position of the head (and body language) I can get different expressions from multiple angles.

The concept art was partially done by the maker as well, so we discussed it a lot, which helped to realize what was and wasn't possible. So the ending result is very similar to the reference sheet.

One-Piece Body

Wear SatisfactionThe bodysuit fits incredibly well and allows for a lot of movement. Initially I was wearing it with an EZ cooldown vest, but it became too tight and restrictive, especially after the inserts melted which do not allow for much airflow. Since then I have been wearing it just with the underarmour, and the airflow has improved a lot.

The seams are very high quality, it doesn't seam like they will be coming off anytime soon. Did you miss the pun?

The padding pockets are lined with the same material as the head, but I always wear an underarmour which absorbs most of the sweat. I wash the suit regularly after conventions or whenever it becomes dirty or starts smelling, and brush it also every time I store it and before I wear it.

Visual SatisfactionThe bodysuit looks amazing, the maker nailed the patterns and all the markings from the reference sheet. The front zipper is barely visible, but not entirely because the fur is so short.

The fur feels very soft and even, very high quality. Before the work began, the maker sent me links to the furs he was going to use, so I was able to see more or less how they would look like in the end.

The padding for the legs are made of pillow stuffing and the wrapping is the same material used for the lining. They are removable from the body suit, so I can store them separately.

When I picked up the fursuit we realized the arm sleeves were too short, so the maker added an extra 10cm of length on both, in a matter of minutes, with leftover fur from my suit.

Hands

Wear SatisfactionI have two pairs of hands for this suit, one for wearing normally, and another for mobility and playing instruments.

The first pair is very comfortable, allows for good movement and are not too tight, so on occasion they might come off a bit, however I can easily slide them back on. Since the addition of the 10cm on the arm sleeves, the wrists are not showing anymore, and there is no apparent split between the arms and the hands.

The second pair was a custom request to allow me to play bass while suiting. The hands are made out of spandex, with holes for the finger tips, and the outside was sewed with the pattern for my hands, so from the outside neither the fingers or the spandex gloves are visible. This effect works really well! The first iteration of these gloves turned out to be too tight, but the maker then made another pair which fits perfectly.

Visual SatisfactionBoth pairs look excellent, I really love the addition of the webs, and the claws are also really nice and fun to play with and show off. The second pair is also really good, it blends perfectly with the bodysuit and it hides my fingers while I play.

I am very satisfied with the hands, both pairs. Since I haven't purchased underarmour gloves to wear underneath, they can become quite sweaty as there is no lining.

Tail

Wear SatisfactionThe tail is massive and I love it. It zips to the bodysuit very nicely, and allows for good movement. It's a bit hard to zip on, so I usually do it at the beginning of the cons, and unzip at the end.

The seams are quite durable, especially the fluke which drags on the floor a lot, after machine washing it and brushing there is no damage to the fur whatsoever after some suitwalks and conventions. For suitwalks outside, I usually hold the tail on my left hand, although I am searching for an alternative to be able to hold it on my wrist or waist.

The tail contains pillow stuffing, and the fluke is foam. Both can be removed so the tail is entirely machine washable.

Visual SatisfactionI love the way it looks, I specifically requested to be a big tail, which in some cases might be cumbersome since it drags on the floor, and the fluke is basically a huge broom behind me. In spite of this, it looks great and I wouldn't have it any other way.

With proper cleaning and care, it lasts for a long time, as there is still no damage to the fur underneath. It still feels as soft as the first day I wore it.

Feet

Wear SatisfactionThe feet are very comfortable and nice for my size. Initially they came off easily every time I lifted them, which meant I would drag them easily on the floor. I spoke with the maker about this, who suggested the addition of zippers on the legs and the feet, and after this modification and also adding more fur on the end of the legs to prevent the ankles showing, the feet are now incredibly comfortable, don't slide off, which means I can run without worrying about them ever coming off. It's a bit harder to setup, and I found at cons it's easier to zip them once at the beginning and unzip them at the end, essentially becoming a one piece body suit. It's a feature that I strongly suggest to anyone ordering a suit from any maker.

The internals of one of the feet have shifted after a walk, my guess because it happened before the zipper modification, my feet were able to slide easily inside which broke the filling. I have since then requested them to be fixed. But my experience with the zipped feet proved that this wouldn't have happened if I had requested this change in the first place. Again, for all suits, I definitely recommend!

Visual SatisfactionThe feet look stunning, it's one of my favorite parts of the suit. The feeling of looking down and seeing myself wearing them is indescribable!

The claws are very sturdy, I have bumped them against walls and doors and other things and they're still holding strongly.

These are outdoor paws, but I am soon commissioning the maker for indoor paws as well.

Final CommentsCreature Critter Suits is an incredibly friendly and high quality fursuit maker from Copenhagen, and I would without a shadow of a doubt recommend him. In spite of being my friend, the communication about the suit and the whole process was excellent, and the end result was fantastic. I love this suit and I can't wait for more opportunities to wear it!
