It was very easy to communicate with Splinterfox for this commission. I was eagerly awaiting an opening, so I was a Patreon patron in their Telegram channel when they announced openings (patrons got first dibs). I private messaged Splinterfox and was responded to almost immediately, and was on their queue shortly after.
I am very satisfied with their communication. Splinterfox was always a direct message away in regards to any concerns, and they always responded quickly. They treated me very kindly throughout the commissioning process, and they were very communicative about every detail, even being honest about a small error.
I commissioned Rhythm in July of 2021. I was told that my commission would only take a few months to complete (that I would have it by the fall) with no exact ETA. I was put on their Trello where I could follow along with where I was in their queue. I received my fursuit in November of 2021, which I was happy with. Shipping went well and I had no issues.
Overall, I am EXTREMELY satisfied with my commission from Splinterfox Productions. They did a fantastic job of bringing Rhythm to life. I chose Splinterfox because I liked their toony style, and Rhythm is consistent to their style. They were super communicative throughout the commissioning process, and were always open to input throughout the process too. I have had a few minor seam issues, but overall the quality is very high for what I paid, and I believe that I will have/wear this fursuit for a long time.
I am very satisfied with how Rhythm's fursuit head fits. They followed my head measurements perfectly – the head is not tight, but not too loose; I can be very expressive with my head turns. The head is lined with a black balaclava material (I believe a nylon/spandex blend), which is very comfortable. The ventilation is great for me, I get airflow through the eyes and open mouth well (though I should note that my previous fleece heads were far too tight for me, so this is an amazing change of pace, haha). As for the vision, the buckram eyes are fairly large and I have a large range of vision through them, although I do have a bit of a blind spot in the middle.
Splinterfox brought my character to life PERFECTLY. The initial foam base for Rhythm wasn't exactly how I imagined her shape to be (I wanted it more toony), so I expressed this to Splinterfox and they were very happy to make changes for me, and they ended up revising it and creating a resulting shape that I absolutely loved. The head is very symmetrical. Splinterfox also worked with me to choose furs that best matched what I had in mind for my character, resulting in spot-on colors to Rhythm's reference sheet. Since one of the furs was a longer shag, Splinterfox was communicative that there was a very minor shaving error on one of Rhythm's cheeks, but it's so minor that it's barely noticeable. The shaving overall is very even, and easily brushable. I also requested removable eyelids for my head; The eyelids have velcro backings and stick to the eyeliner. The eyelids basically only can really produce one expression (tired/sultry?) even after repositioning them, but I am satisfied with them regardless. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with how Rhythm turned out.
My handpaws are very comfortable to wear. They are four-fingered, and padded on the top of the hand only (lining on the side of the padding). I have good dexterity when wearing them, even though they are padded. The wrists are fairly high up, so they stay on well underneath long-sleeved shirts. They have bias tape around the wrist edge, which feels very comfortable and doesn't itch. However, there have been minor popped seams on both the wrist and the embroidered pawpads, which I have had to repair. Overall though, I am satisfied!
Splinterfox did a great job with my handpaws. Visually they are super cute, puffy, and toony, which perfectly matches the aesthetic of Rhythm's head. They have the correct colors and the correct number of fingers, and they are shaved well, and easily brushable. The only thing that I do not like is the black bias tape around the wrists; I wish Splinterfox would have used yellow bias tape. The black is extremely noticeable against the yellow fur when I wear them over a long-sleeved shirt that is not black.
Rhythm's tail is very durable and easy to wear. The two elastic loops are super thick and even along a flat base of the tail, allowing me to feel very secure when wearing it. I also love that this tail does not drag on the floor; It has a curl that makes it stick into the air towards the tip. Splinterfox did a fantastic job of creating a long rodent tail that doesn't make me worry about it getting dragged through mud. The shape of the tail also makes for cute movement. The main seam down the center of the tail popped shortly after arrival, but I was able to repair it on my own.
I am very satisfied with the visual look of Rhythm's tail. Splinterfox did an amazing job of making it cute, curly, and toony, without it being a floor dragger. I love that they put the tip of yellow fur at the top instead of just making the entire thing pink minky, it really adds an extra special touch to the cuteness of the tail. It perfectly matches my reference sheet and is satisfying to wear.
