Extremely easy. TwinkyArts announces commission openings in advance. They will have an application Form open for about a week, so anyone interested has ample opportunity to put their application in.
All contact with the maker was via email. All communications were succinct and professional. I was treated with respect and courtesy, and I felt my design choices were respected as well. There was a communication failure on my end – I requested to add removable and extra tongues thru email after my slot was accepted. Since it wasn't on my initial application, this was missed, but the maker was apologetic and offered to either add the feature or to refund me for the cost of the tongues – I opted for a refund. In the end it probably worked out for the best as I likely would have lost all the tongues if they were removable!
I'm very pleased with the turnaround time. TwinkyArts has a public queue for customers to track progress on their commission, and they post regular updates and WIP photos on social media. Work was started in early July and the suit was shipped out on July 22th via USPS and received July 25th.
I am incredibly happy with the final products received. Everything fits well, reflects my character perfectly, as well as the maker's style. The only way I could have been happier with this commission is if I'd had the funds for a full suit!
Despite the large size of the ears and muzzle, the head is lightweight and easy to wear. It is extremely comfortable and well-ventilated. The built in liner is made of a smooth moisture wicking material. The head's field of vision is fantastic and the eye mesh causes me much LESS eyestrain and fatigue than my old suit does – which means I can suit for longer!
I have nothing bad to say about how my fursuit head looks. The head shape and markings are very symmetrical, aesthetically pleasing, and you can tell just by looking at him that he's well made. There are no visible seams, glue globs, over-shaved areas, etc. The fur is soft and smooth, and the shaving is even.
The paws are puffy "feral-style" paws with dewclaws, so they are a bit tricky to put on – but dexterity is only slightly impacted and I can still pick up and manipulate objects. The paws stay put once on and they do not slide around. The paws are not lined, so they are breathable. The claws are sewn on and made of a minky material to match my pawpads and nose.
The paws are symmetrical in terms of markings and sizing. All the claws are placed methodically to reflect an animal's claws. It is my understanding that there was no shaving done to the hand paws, as the maker used a short pile fur for the fingers and palms.
