Overall

Initial ContactI discovered Onix Angel Creations via a database of fursuit makers. I filtered by country, as I wanted a maker specifically from Canada. I then narrowed down my selection by looking at the websites of various makers and making a decision based on their previous work, prices, and professional appearance.

Onix Angel Creations has a user-friendly process of commissioning them for a custom crafted fursuit from their website.

Maker CommunicationOnix was always prompt to respond to my messages via the Telegram messaging application. We conducted the majority of our communication there.
Our discussions were casual and friendly!

I let Onix know of a few basic character details that were important to me and let them take their own liberties from there. I trusted their know-how as a crafter over my own judgement and wanted them to have a more relaxed experience with my commission.

I was provided with updates as the construction progressed and we shared opinions about a few minor details.

Project Completion TimeIt took almost three years from the initial acceptance of my commission by the artist in May of 2022 until I received her at Furnal Equinox in March of 2025.

I wasn't too terribly frustrated by this wait time, as it's not uncommon to expect a custom fursuit to take well over a year to complete and I was experiencing immense circumstances in my personal life which kept me well occupied. However, new commissioners continued to be added to the queue whilst my own fursuit lacked any progress since my initial commission. From my perspective it seemed like Onix was taking on more work than could reasonably be performed. In March of 2024 I messaged Onix politely expressing my feelings and was reasonably well-assured that my fursuit was still a priority. On November 22, 2024, Onix closed their fursuit commissions queue and worked to catch up on all outstanding projects. At the time of writing this review (September 12, 2025) their fursuit commissions have remained closed. I believe that Onix is improving in their ability to manage their workload.

I feel that the final result of my commission was absolutely well worth the wait that I experienced. I paid only $2,000USD to receive a high-quality custom fullsuit. The quality of Onix's craft has increased substantially from the time when I first commissioned them. I am happy to see that they plan to charge higher prices when their fursuit commissions reopen, as their work on my own fursuit demonstrates a skill of craft that deserves funding.

Overall Project QualityI am so happy with how Rooka turned out. Wearing this fursuit and becoming her is a dream.
She has been professionally crafted and respects the design of the character she was modeled after.

Components

Head

Wear SatisfactionThe head fits snugly and stays in position, yet is loose enough to be comfortable for long fursuiting sessions.
There's a pocket of empty space behind Rooka's chimp snout which provides ample breathing room. The position of the mouth opening is perfect for drinking water via a fursuit straw and hides my own mouth/balaclava wonderfully while performing.
At the base of the jaw behind Rooka's tongue is a little shelf where my chin can rest comfortably. I am not sure if this chin-rest was intentional but it grips my head like a helmet chin-strap and is a welcome surprise.
The eyes provide me with the greatest visibility of any suit that I've yet worn. The eyes are big, positioned perfectly, and the muzzle is nice and short, giving me a wide range of vision.
There is no padding on the back of the head.
I could see a future where the acrylic teeth may need to be re-attached after long wear but so far they have held up well!

I wear corrective lenses but I always opt to wear contact lenses for fursuiting. This piece was not designed to accommodate eyeglasses.
Upon removal after long usage, the only discomfort experienced is a mild re-acclimation of the focusing of my eyes.

Visual SatisfactionOnix has crafted Rooka in fursuit form so magically. Everything about the head conveys a careful attention to detail. I am so impressed with how she was able to bring her to life from my drawings. Seeing my fursona's face in my reflection is euphoric.

Fleece was used as the material for the "skin". The skin holds tight to the contours of the face and blends seamlessly into the fur around it. A few lines are visible because this contouring could not be achieved with a single, continuous piece of material, which is an endearing detail of the construction and not a flaw. It is an uncommon species to depict, but Onix has skillfully pulled it off. Rooka's face looks species-accurate and her expression is so playful!

I was especially touched by the way her big primate nostrils were sculpted and accented with color. Rooka's expression has proven to be photogenic from a variety of angles and photographs of her make me smile. 🙂

One-Piece Body

Wear SatisfactionThe bodysuit is well-proportioned to my body and fits snuggly. It was fitted via a duct-tape-dummy which I sent to the maker.

I experience no irritation from the materials. Temperature-wise, it's about what one would expect when fursuiting in addition to underarmor.

I like to do quite a bit of crouching, hunching over, and other chimp-like movements when performing. I do experience a bit of tightness around the abdomen, buttocks, and underarms when performing but nothing too serious as to restrict my movement or damage the suit. After fursuiting at three furry conventions and one pride parade in her there is no apparent damage. Sitting can be done with little resistance. I was a bit worried that the fit would change as I progress on feminizing hormones but I have found that the bodysuit accentuates these changes in a noticeable and fun way without discomfort.

There are two wonderful mesh openings in the underarm areas that allow for airflow and do not detract from the appearance. This is my first time experiencing these on a bodysuit and I am so glad that Onix put in the effort to implement them.
Onix has hidden the zipper along the front of the suit where the two different colors meet. I am so happy that the zipper is in the front and it blends in very well. The zipper is big and of high quality and even matches the color scheme of the character!
The interior stitching of the entire suit looks well-crafted, neatly-done, and strong.

Visual SatisfactionThe fur is soft and feels of high quality. The colors are perfect.
And of course, the bare-shaven bottom is adorable.
Inside, at the back of the collar, an "Onix Angel Creations" logo has been sewn in, providing a very professional look to the item. The rim of the collar itself (neckhole) is lined with a soft, color-matching ring of fabric.

Hands

Wear SatisfactionThe hands fit snuggly and comfortably. The tips of the fingers are a bit tight due to padding, but not uncomfortably so. There is slight resistance in the knuckles when bending the fingers but not so much as to restrict movement.
I love how the fur extends well beyond the wrist and up a section of the arm, hiding any trace of skin when I stretch.
These hand-pieces feel really solidly built. The openings are lined with the same plush material found at the neck of the bodysuit.

The interior of the hands have been lined with a soft material that has an adorable pattern of Onix's design.
I can handle objects somewhat tactfully while wearing these hands.

Visual SatisfactionDespite the fact that Rooka's hands are five-fingered and almost human-like, Onix didn't settle for designing a set of simple gloves. These hands have intricate line-work sewn into them depicting palm lines, fingerprints, knuckle wrinkles, and fingernails.
The fingers themselves are padded at the ends, resulting in big, cartoonish shapes that really play well with the character.

These hands are big and fun!

Feet

Wear SatisfactionThe fursuit feet were built around comfortable slip-on shoes which were shipped to the maker. The costumed materials fit nicely around the footwear and doesn't significantly affect my walking experience, aside from being a bigger.

The feet are wide and loose at their top openings, where I would have liked them to be more snug and form-fitting to my ankles/legs.
That beings said, the foam at the bottom of the feet (these are "outdoor paws") has held up nicely after plenty of city walking and fursuit parades.

The build feels durable and does the job as footwear.

Visual SatisfactionThe feet are patterned similarly to the hands, if a bit less gracefully. The fleece has patterns depicting toe knuckles and nails. Cute little thumbs are depicted.
There is inside lining and a nice trim around the opening.

I feel that the foam coming up the leg from the top of the feet could have used more tapering or narrowing. This isn't too big of an issue, though.
These are probably the only pieces on the whole suit where I could see good room for improvement in Onix's craft.
