Head

Wear Satisfaction

Head fits perfectly, very comfortable and does not heat up easily, ventilation comes from the olfactory ducts instead of from eyes as with most other fursuit heads. The inside is lined with heavy duty fabric and foam underneath which adds comfort. At first, spines on back too thick making neck movements difficult and I could not keep my neck straight. Head was then sent back to Tunny to have spines swapped out for smaller ones, then sent back. Now, spines work. Vision excellent and done by olfactory ducts at the side of snout instead of eyes. Visibility through eyes inferior but possible. Ventilation can be done by mouth by opening jaw with chin.

Visual Satisfaction

Very satisfied with head. Sabin handsome and looks intimidating and mischievous which fits personality. The glass dome eyes give realistic reptile appearance. The buckram underneath glass eyes evenly painted with neon green sclera and slit-eye design. Mouth is realistic as fabric for palette and inner cheeks fully cover the teeth. Spines on back of the head were initially too thick and heavy which impeded neck movements but was swapped out with smaller, thinner spines which now work fine… The skin fabric that covers the resin base has no creases and few hot glue stains. The red and blue patterns are sewn in smoothly. The fur used is the type I requested Tunny to use and match colors on ref sheet. Appearance symmetrical and I can tell this accomplished by Tunny taping up half the resin base with duct tape down the center axis of snout, tracing over fabric, inverting, tracing again to make casts for skinning the head.

Special Attachments and Features

Sabin’s head features moving jaws. Moving jaws pre-built into resin raptor base made by Dreamvision Creations already came hinged with springs attached to the jaw. The moving jaws work well and easy to use. Chin fits easily over jaw to operate…*chomp*

Overall

Product Satisfaction

How well does everything fit together and match up?
Only head commissioned. The price already high. I built the rest of suit myself. Everything matches up well. I used same fabric and colors as Tunny. Neck-fabric of head covers over shoulder, neck, and exposed back and can easily be hidden with shirt. Very good.
Overall Sabin fursuit:
– head (made by Tunny)
– body
– tail
– handpaws
– feet paws X2
– sleeves

Overall Project Quality
Excellent – little blemishes and errors, great symmetry, high quality materials, safe materials used, smooth stitching

Purchase Process

Initial Contact
It was initially easy to contact Tunny as he responded quickly.

Maker Response Time
maker can improve on response time. He will usually respond within 1-2 days. However, I had to wait a week for a response even after replying to him less than an hour after receiving his last message.

Maker Professionalism
Maker is talented and versatile, able to work with various materials such as glass, resin, short-pile fabric, paints, etc.
Good manners and keeps everything brief

Project Completion Time
slightly disappointed with the project completion time as should have been done 2-3 weeks from time the queue cleared up and the maker started work. Maker forgot I specified due date before Midwest Furfest. The head arrived 1 month+ late.

Final Comments
Overall satisfied with commission. Tunny Bishop did everything requested from request to drill holes in glass spheres for eyes, using nontoxic materials, and replacing the thick spines free of charge. Maker polite and sociable. Very skilled craftsman. Only needs to improve on management and responsiveness. Need to make clear due dates set by clients and check inbox everyday. He now can do good job making resin-based heads as this was his first time working with resin blanks. Would recommend. 91/100
