Wear Satisfaction

NOTE: THE RESIN BASE WAS MADE BY COLORFUL CREATURES LLC.

He is incredibly comfortable. I have a really small 21.5″ head so unless I tell a maker that my head is smaller, then a lot of suits end up feeling huge on me. He is made off of a large resin base but she added a really sturdy elastic strap on the inside that holds him very securely. There is padding on the top and the bottom of the base on the inside that holds the base snugly to my face. The eye ports are directly in front of my eyes and the mesh she used is super easy to see through, so vision is shockingly good for a resin head. There is a bit of a blind spot due to the big square muzzle so I can’t really see my feet or my own torso but that’s to be expected. I actually recently wore him to a rave and was waving my head all around like a maniac and only then did he dislodge a bit but all I had to do was hold the muzzle in place and re-adjust so it was really no big deal. The ventilation is really not great and honestly that’s more to do with the closed-mouth expression of the resin base than anything to do with Sarah’s work. She applied chiffon fabric to the back of the nostrils and the teeth to prevent anyone seeing my face and I ended up removing the mesh by the nose to allow more airflow. I installed my own CPU fan right in front of the opened nose holes and he became much easier to breathe in.

Visual Satisfaction

I am SO satisfied with how he looks; the photos she sent me don’t do him justice at all. The symmetry is absolutely spot-on perfect, his markings look wonderful, and she really brought life to the resin base. The base is expressive to begin with and she managed to accent the subtle features rather than hide them. The ears are a little bit asymmetrical but not enough to bother me. I requested that the hair poof be more like a mohawk and she carved foam to give it a specific shape and it’s exactly how I envisioned it. I can’t find a single flaw with shaving. The nose had a very specific shape to it and I asked if she could cover it in minky and she preserved the exact shape and contours of the nose without blocking the cleft in the center or the nostrils. The fur around the lips perfectly outlines the sharp teeth without blocking them. There isn’t a single glue spot or raw fur edge that I can see, even looking closely. I sent her all of the materials to use so I’m definitely satisfied with those. Even with his static eyes and smile, I can still achieve different expressions depending on how I’m looking at the camera. When ColoredCreaturesLLC released the sketch concept for the saber base, I actually traced over it and marked out where his markings would be and which furs I wanted used for which color. I sent Sarah my official ref sheet plus this sketch and she matched it 100%.

Overall

Product Satisfaction

How was your concept art realized?
She followed my reference 100% accurately. I sent a very specific ref outlining how the markings laid on top of the base I wanted to use. During the whole process, she sent me images of the base being taped and her markings drawn on top of it and asked my opinion before she moved forward, so I was always very happy and confident through each step of the process. Sid matches my original design absolutely perfectly.

How well does everything fit together and match up?
He is a partial suits with head/hands/paws/digi legs so the head is mostly separated from the rest of the body and I wear a t-shirt to cover my torso. Either way, the way the neck fur lies is super comfortable and looks good. It’s not bunched up, it’s long enough to cover my neck, nothing is exposed, and I can move around comfortably without worrying about anything showing. I have seen Sarah’s suits for a few years now online and before I commissioned her I was able to see her personal head in person at a convention. I got to make my own opinions about the quality of her work and I can comfortably say that Sid’s quality is exactly what I expected and hoped for. Because the base is so expressive, it is a little bit different expression-wise than her other suits but her style still shows through in the eyes and ears and he is definitely a SarahCat Fursuits head.

Overall Project Quality
I’m so over the moon with the quality of this head. It was everything I had hoped for and I am really able to connect with the character, which is all I wanted.

Purchase Process

Initial Contact
Very easy. She is a friend of mine so we’re talking constantly. I asked when she would be open next and she had me fill out her official commission form. I received the acceptance acknowledgement the next day.

Maker Response Time
Super good. We are friends so we talk pretty much every day but even in the middle of random conversation, she still promptly answered any questions about my suit. We kept the conversation to Telegram the whole time.

Maker Professionalism
Super professional. I know I’m a friend but she really did treat me like a paying customer. We were able to separate friend talk from business talk and I felt like I was treated the way that she would treat any of her clients.

Project Completion Time
Very happy. A lot of things delayed the commission between the April acceptance and the December completion, namely waiting 5 months for the resin base and waiting for me to send the remaining payment and materials to be used; this is the reason that there was really no ETA given for my specific project. She received my resin base in late September and I sent my final payment and the materials in late October. She is a full time college student so she didn’t begin my head until late November due to classes/final exams. She started my head on 11/27 and shipped on 12/10, so that’s a lightning fast turnaround time in my opinion.

Final Comments
One thing I need to note: her current prices are a bit higher than I had listed. Because I purchased the resin base from a third party and provided all materials to be used, my final price is discounted. I honestly feel like I underpaid for the quality of this head. I would easily pay $1,300+ for a head like this. I feel like I’m gushing a lot but it really means so much to me that this head turned out the way it did. I’ve commissioned and purchased many suits over the years and at least one I received and was like “…oh. neat” and then it completely disconnected me from the character. Sarah revived my Sid in a way that I could have only dreamed about and after wearing him at FurTheMore, I’m so excited for the next con because I just can’t wait to get back in my smiley boy. I really would recommend Sarah to literally anybody looking for a suit, whether it’s realistic or toony. She has such a unique style all her own and her sewing quality and symmetry can only be described as being on par with the “top tier makers” that people think of such as MadeFurYou or DHC or the big names. She started her business as a teen and her business sense and professionalism have only improved greatly as time has passed. To put it bluntly: she makes an amazing product with a quick turnaround at a reasonable price and you really can’t ask for more.
