I had no problem getting in contact with TLC! We talk pretty much every other day, so it was just a normal conversation for us.
I'm extremely satisfied with the transparency and communication. I did have my frustrations at times, but I was always reassured that everything would be OK and that my concerns were valid and being taken into account. There were some gaps in conversation, especially towards the deadlines, but I was always followed up with, even when it was a day or two later.
There were some missed deadlines to be honest. We were originally shooting for September 2022 completion, and then MFF 2022 completion, but those were not met. I believe this was due to family and health complications, so I'm really not upset about it. Thankfully, it did not matter all that much because I had decided not to go to the con anyways. My Trello slot said my suit was due for late November to early December completion. I received the suit on January 18th, a day before I was scheduled to leave for Ohayocon. It was super close, but the final deadline was eventually reached and on time. I did put ETA passed in the beginning simply due to the Trello dates listed and the initial Septembers and MFF 2022 ETAs. Those were not hard deadlines though, so I'm not pressed about it or upset.
I am overall very satisfied with my fursuit and can see myself using it for a very long time. I love how they look on me and make me feel! I was always hesitant to believe others when they said that their fursuits made them more social and less anxious, but now I see just how true it is. I am so glad that I decided to go with my best friend for this suit as well. It makes it all the more special to me. I think the suit is definitely worth the price tag and I'm happy with what I received. I plan to return to TLC to make my fiancé's suit as well so that we can have matching "couple suits".
The head is extremely comfortable and lightweight! I find that partialling is extremely comfortable due to how breathable it is. The vision is limited, but that is to be expected, especially since I almost always have the eyelids on. It's still easier to see out of than most suits I've worn, including previous suits by the same maker. There have been significant improvements each time I've tried a newer head by them, this one being the best yet.
Overall the head is very visually pleasing. The markings around the cheeks and eyes are extremely crisp. I especially love the sharp angles used around the eye creases where the black makes a "v" marking. It's very toony and exactly what I was going for. The ears are a little lopsided when it comes to size and/or placement. I can't tell why, but one of the ears always looks a tad smaller or tilted back in photos. This isn't really a problem though and I feel that it's just a nitpick on my end. The part of the ears that I do adore however, is the little hidden blue markings under the white longer fluff. It's such a unique detail, and I think it just solidifies how much care was put into the making of my suit.
The eyes are made of the new sublimation dye technique that many makers have been trying recently. I love how deep the purples are and you can't really see any gaps like you would with a normal mesh.
The only part that I had to comment on directly to my maker was the lack of my second tongue. TLC was aware it was missing when shipped due to there being a rush on my end to get the suit before a convention. I have since requested my new tongue be shipped and have paid shipping. I haven't received it yet, but I will be visiting TLC in person soon anyway and will likely receive it then. It's not a big deal and I honestly don't know how much I'd use it. It'd just be nice to have since we did specifically install magnets for it.
The body suit is very comfortable and soft to the touch. I had requested extra room be added due to me being a plus-sized individual and this was accommodated. The zippers are very easy to use and are hidden! The digitigrade legs are stuffed with Poly-fil rather than pillows, and this allows the suit to be easier to walk in and travel with. I can easily add or remove any stuffing as needed. I think the legs are the most comfortable part simply due to how padded they are and the soft material used to house the padding.
I adore how the body looks on me! I was really worried about it not looking good due to my size/height, but TLC really knocked it out of the park for me. I feel so comfortable in it and love taking photos with the fullsuit on. The digitigrade is so cute and it looks really amazing in action shots. I'm also very impressed with the three "Z" markings done on my back. Those are my signature "Sleepy" markings, something I'm known for, and it's just absolutely beautiful in its physical form. I could not be happier with how the body makes me look and feel.
I also wanted to take the time to comment on how lovely the shaving and different piles of fur are. The shoulders and chest have a longer variant of black and white fur, and it just really adds to that husky/malamute feel. TLC also gave my bodysuit a very light, but visible, happy trail. Not only does it cover the zipper, but it also helps me feel more masculine. I really love this attention to detail with the fur lengths, especially since there was a rush to get everything done. I'm extremely impressed with how beautiful it is.
The only thing that is slightly off is the blue on the longer piles of fur. I noticed that the blue on the "Chevron" chest marking and the elbow tufts is lighter than the blue on the face, "Z" markings, and the tail. I think this may have been due to the time constraints and lack of materials in the final moments. I didn't feel it was big enough of an issue to bring up directly to my maker because it genuinely doesn't affect the wear or visuals. I don't wish to get this changed or fixed; it's just easier to see in some photos than others. I've honestly considered editing my design to make the lighter blue on the Chevron and elbows because I like the contrast. It just wasn't mentioned during the build process, so I figured I'd mention it here.
The paws are so soft and very cute! They are 4-finger puffy paws, fully lined on the inside. I prefer the toony, soft look of 4-finger paws despite the lack of functionality. I was able to recently go to a Putt-Putt event with them though, and I had no trouble holding the putter or the ball. I'm also easily able to grip water bottles and my wearable fan as needed. The hands are definitely more aesthetic than functional, but I've found ways to use them that work for me.
The handpaws are beautiful visually! The blue used for the paw pads matches my blue markings like my reference sheet and they have a really clean, almost embroidered look around the edges. The claws are also really well made and very sturdy! I'm shocked how easily they clean up too, even when holding dirty objects like public Putt-Putt equipment. Overall they look wonderful and fit the toony aesthetic I love about TLC suits.
The tail is SO CUTE!! I think this is the first husky/curly tail I've worn that doesn't instantly droop and flip itself upside down when wearing it. It's very fluffy, and when "wagged" the fur flops in a way that is just so very cute. I'm really impressed by how the markings flow on it as well! It matches my character's art very well.
I already said a lot in the wear satisfaction portion, but I'm really impressed with the markings and how it sits. It's very cute and super husky! Fluffy, bouncy, and very "waggable"! The fur is long and fluffy, and I don't see any problems with the markings whatsoever. Even when it's been blown around in the wind and is unbrushed, it still looks really cute and the markings don't looks disheveled. I think I can say this about a lot of my suit to be honest: the markers are always crisp even when worn and not actively being brushed.
The feetpaws are extremely soft on the inside, like walking on a pillow. They do not have a shoe on the inside and are basically just big slippers. They don't slip off when I walk, which is a huge plus, despite the soft interior. They're also not too big or cumbersome to walk in! I don't find myself tripping over the toes and was able to climb a bunch of steps recently with minimal struggle.
Visually they're cute and the claws help define each toe. I had originally asked for indoor paws and sandals, but after a while I had forgotten about my request and had gone with outdoor paws instead. I will eventually commission indoor paws and sandals, but for now I'm satisfied with my outdoor feet. Also, despite the outdoor and con wear, they barely show any dirt on the white fur. The shape hides it very well and makes me less worried about photo shoots.
