I found out about the opening on Telegram and contacted the maker there. The maker is Evil, the person who communicates with customers is Ice. I reached out to Ice, who has been very helpful, friendly, and provided examples with pictures of the things Evil needed from me.
Ice always got back to me within a few hours, occasionally a day or so at most, but it has always been quick. Always through Telegram.
I was treated well, the communication was friendly but professional.
Communication was *sliiiiiightly* hindered sometimes by a perceived language gap. All communication was done in English, which is neither party's first language. I don't feel like this was a real issue, but I would've liked to have been asked more questions sometimes before things moved ahead.
I was in a queue, and my slot was assigned for October. I was informed about this right after comms closed. I was pushed back one slot, however, as part of my fur was unfortunately sold out when the time came. We had to wait for a restock, but after that, my project was completed surprisingly quickly and I was very satisfied with the waiting time overall.
We never agreed on specific deadlines, and I never asked for one either as i was under no time pressure.
I picked them up directly from the Maker's home, as we live in the same city.
Yes, very much so. I love ma boi. I think he looks great on me, I love wearing him, friends have given me lots of compliments, and if I had to make the choice again, I would pick EvilMakers again.
The final result exceeded my expectations and I look forward to every time i get to wear him. I think the price I paid was fair.
I was slightly disappointed that I had to fix two seams after wearing him a few times, but they've always been quick / free repairs and the Maker has been very helpful.
I do believe I will have to make more small repairs, but spread out over the span of the next few years. I do believe he will last me a decade if I take good care of him 🙂
Everything fits really well together, which is impressive considering the handpaws and tail were made by a different maker (Shrumibo).
Overall the look is really consistent and everything matches up. There are no visual gaps of any sort.
It fits my head perfectly and is rather light. It is not locked in place on my head (when i shake it, it moves around slightly, but returns to a normal wear position by itself).
It's soft inside, i can't feel anything hard while wearing it.
I'm not sure what lining was used but it is easy to clean and works well.
I can breathe reasonably well inside.
There is NO blind spot in the middle of my vision. The horizontal FOV is quite good, the vertical one slightly more limited.
With light directly shining on my face, the pink of the mesh glows and blocks some vision.
One of the eye meshes separated slightly from the 3d-printed eye base at the bottom and had to get glued on again.
The symmetry is really good, i don't notice any asymmetry. Everything matches my character design.
The shaving is pretty even, there are *slight* bumps on the muzzle but nothing i would consider worrying about.
The fur feels soft and nice, it's all very easily brushable and nothing bleeds.
I am really satisfied with the expression and appearance. I can make him look happy, playful, proud, sassy and… "inviting" using angles as well as:
Two tongue variants: Attached with velcro inside the maw. A short one, and a long one that can magnetically attach to the side of the muzzle.
Eyelids: Mostly give off a sassy vibe. Attached with one magnet each, which makes it a challenge sometimes to line them up well, especially as the thin ends (facing the middle of the head) sometimes bend/lift away from the eyes a bit, creating a gap.
The nose is also pickable, meaning the two nostrils are connected and you can put stuff like glowsticks or "piercings" in
The maker did not modify my design.
It fits me perfectly, and is really comfy to wear. I can move pretty freely.
Putting on the bodysuit by myself is a slight challenge because it is made to fit me well. I often need help to pull it over my shoulders. But i can wear a cooling vest underneath it and it still fits.
Unfortunately i have had to get one seam under the left elbow repaired, as well as another one on my back. Apart from that, no issues so far.
The fur patterns look amazing imo. Fur is brushable, transitions look good.
There is no lining. There are two paddings per leg, one is removable (the big thigh one) and one is sewn shut. I feel like it deals with sweat pretty well.
There are construction marks, but they do not bleed (despite machine washing even ^^) / are only visible inside, so they don't matter to me.
I can feel wind and fans directly through the bodysuit. It is rather breathable on the upper body, legs slightly less so because of the padding.
Again, the symmetry is great, it matches my design, the long fur hasn't been shaved.
Unfortunately due to a communication issue / oversight, short fur was used on the lower legs/shins, which i would have preferred to be normal/long fur.
The fur feels great, it's really soft, i can brush it easily, the markings don't bleed or rub off.
The digi-style padding is not too aggressively digi, which is what i was looking for, so that's good.
It is not tight around the crotch area, which makes for comfortable wearing but doesn't show off my bodily curves super well. Not an issue for me, just saying 😛
It matches my ref-sheet basically perfectly.
The feet have slip-in shoes inside of them, making it easy to put them on. They feel a bit loose while walking around, but I can shake my feet pretty aggressively and they don't come off.
Thanks to the shoes they are very easy to put on and feel pretty comfy. Overall, I'd say I'm satisfied.
The durability seems pretty good. They are outdoor paws, so the sole is made of a black plastic/foam-like material (?). One or two small stones have put holes in that material, but that can be expected with outdoor use and isn't a detriment.
The shoes also do a good job of managing sweat.
They look symmetrical. There's basically no design on them as they're pure white with blue claws.
Shaving looks fine to me.
The material is also soft and nice to the touch.
The claws are made from minky i believe and all look good.
Would you recommend this maker?
This means the reviewer would recommend EvilMakers.
Evil and Ice are lovely people, and overall commissioning them has been a great choice for me.
Evil also constantly improves with every project, so it can only get even better ^w^
