Overall

Initial ContactVery easy. I saw the commissions open up, and I sent a message to my maker! I found my maker on Instagram, but she also uses Twitter under the same username, Vikinya7. Regardless of a language barrier, my messages were translated and were understood. I sent a DTD overseas with my measurements. Any other measurements I double checked on, even using an anatomical model sometimes to highlight where I should measure from.

Maker CommunicationI am extremely satisfied with my makers communication. My fursuit work in progress photos were shared at least once a week, and my messages were responded to in less than a day, typically. We used Instagram messages to talk about the fursuit making process. My maker was very professional and kind towards any questions I had with the making process. When something came up, my maker let me know and communicated this very well.

Project Completion TimeI am beyond happy with how long it took for my fursuit to finish. I wanted my fullsuit to be complete before Megaplex 2024 (September) and it was shipped late July, arriving a month before the con. It only took a few weeks for my bodysuit and head to be completed, which I am pleased about. I got tracked shipping for my fullsuit, and it took only a few days to arrive, and it was not damaged.

Overall Project QualityI am satisfied with my fursuit. If given the chance to add on upgrades like a removable tail or a padded fursuit head, I would have chosen to do so, but even then, I am happy with the outcome. Every event I attend is met with questions like "who made it?" and remarks such as "This is the cutest suit I have ever seen!". The build quality is good, along with its durability. Putting on my suit is easy, and the padding is held up with suspenders, making it easy to run around without the padding sinking down. The outcome of my fursuit was better than I expected. The materials used in my fursuit as a whole are very good, and I feel like the fur in particular is of a great quality. It was well worth the price, and it makes me very happy to wear. It matched my expectations for quality and exceeded the expectations what I saw in the work in progress photos. Everything looks seamless when worn in person. I feel like my fursuit may last a while in terms of durability. Any small seam pops I can fix myself. Nearly every aspect from my reference sheet matches my fursuit exactly, which I am very happy about. The zipper feet attach well and are durable when zipped on. There are no skin gaps visible on my fursuit, and it is a seamless transition between the various parts of my suit. I feel like my maker improved significantly while working on this fullsuit, because the body shape was significantly better than what I was expecting. I am very pleased with my fursuit as a whole!

Components

Head

Wear SatisfactionThe head is the standard for Kemono fursuits. It is made of a 3d printed base with a bicycle-like helmet inside. On the helmet there is a strap that goes under the chin, so the head does not become unstable. It us adjustable, so if I need my head to be tightly or loosely strapped into the helmet, I can do so. The neck closes with a zipper. The zipper is slightly tight, but it is manageable. I use a balaclava to soak up any sweat, so it is not an issue that there is no direct lining. The ventilation was a major issue I had encountered. I had started off with dome eyes, and they would fog up and heat the inside of my head to a point where I could not wear it. I asked my maker how to remove them, and she sent a video. I had my friend remove them, and now I can breathe fantastically. the mouth is very small, and it has a static jaw. I cannot fit most of anything through my mouth, so if I need to scratch an itch, it is difficult, but I was aware of this from the beginning. The vision before I removed the domes was close to zero, due to fogging. After removing them, I can confidently say this fursuit has some of the best vision possible, at least in my experiences. I have attached a fan inside my head to circulate air. There was plenty of room to add a fan. My hair is long, so one thing I need to improve on is to find a way to properly tie my hair back to make zipping the neck up easier. A tooth has slightly chipped, but I have many replacements that my maker sent to me.

Visual SatisfactionI get compliments on my fursuit head every time I wear it. It is beautiful from the outside. The lining on the neck does tend to stand up and show itself if I am wearing lanyards, so I may need to wear a bandana over it to hide it. The markings are symmetrical and fit my reference sheet exactly. One small visual issue is that because two of the fur colors are so similar, they look the same in direct light. That is just the characters design, and it is what matched the fur colors the best. The shaving is fantastic, and the inside of my ears are wonderful, showing a contrast between the short shaven parts and the fluffy interior. The neck lining, however, has a tendency to bleed. I avoid washing that area with a lot of water because I am afraid it will ruin my neck. It is a good thing that area does not get dirty. The brushing of my fur is easy and simple. The purple felt outlines were an amazing choice and make my characters colors stand out. My character's expression matches the reference and is very cute. I particularly like his eyebrows.

One-Piece Body

Wear SatisfactionI can move well in my bodysuit. The durability of it is good, allowing me to move my arms without too harsh of a restriction. The legs have separate padding from the fullsuit, which I use suspenders to hold up. The leg padding can be stuffed and unstuffed at any time I want, which is useful for washing. It is not lined, which helps with the breathability of my fursuit. The leg padding, however, does tend to bleed. I fixed this issue by running a couple cycles on my washer with it without stuffing to wash off any excess dye that may bleed. This worked, and it no longer bleeds. My leg area is very hot due to the stuffing and my very digitigrade legs, which I knew of because of the Kemono style. I asked specifically for large legs, and it was known beforehand that my padding would be large and bulky. I am happy with the outcome of my bodysuit.

Visual SatisfactionThe zipper shows sometimes, but it is not extremely noticeable. I asked for a front zipper, so it is expected that it will show occasionally. The transition between my characters various stripes and the body is done well, and I get many compliments on the vivid colors of the fur as well. It matches what I asked for and I couldn't be happier. The weight of the legs does wear me out, which is expected. The padding alone weighs about 7lbs. My characters markings are symmetrical and are sewn in well. The suit is easy to wash and easy to brush. The removable padding helps the process go faster.

Hands

Wear SatisfactionThey are a little on the tight side. If they are sweaty from prior use and I attempt to put them on, it can be extremely difficult because the lining is made of Minky. Regardless, they are easy to wash because they do not have black lining. They are bulky and full of fluff, so it is difficult to move objects while wearing them, which I knew beforehand. They are longer than average, being covered by my arm sleeves, so if I move my wrists, the skin will not show. To put them on, I need a little extra time because they are bulky and fluffy. They are durable and I have not popped any seams on them yet.

Visual SatisfactionAll of the claws are plush and are the same size and face the right direction. The shaving is well done and is not choppy. You cannot see the backing of the fur through the shaven parts. The colors of the paw pads are true to my character and are made of minky stuffed with fluff. They have not been significantly damaged, but when they are dirty, it is easy to wash them and get the dirt off. My maker notified me that my paws will go under my arm sleeve and made sure the design was still realistic to my character's reference. I am very happy with them overall, as they match my suit very well.

Tail

Wear SatisfactionThe tail was larger than expected! I was even given an option to make it inflatable, but due to a convention that would happen soon, I did not get the upgrade. I wish it did not fully drag on the floor, but regardless it is durable and easy to clean. It is stuffed with stuffing that is removable with a medium sized zipper on the tail, which is very well hidden. It is attached to the fursuit. The stuffing goes inside the tail perfectly and does not make the shape bend unnaturally.

Visual SatisfactionThe tail is very large, and I must carry it if I am going through large dirty areas. It is heavy because of all the padding and carrying it after a while becomes tiring. all of the markings are accurate to my character. the fur is soft and easy to brush. it is attached very well to my fursuit, and has not popped a seam yet. The zipper for the stuffing is so well hidden that for me to unstuff it, I must search carefully, which is a great thing since it does not appear in photos. The tail is bendable and firm at the same time, but it also depends on the amount of stuffing inside.

Feet

Wear SatisfactionThe feet are zipper connected to my fullsuit. While it is possible to wear them without my fullsuit, the yellow foam shows underneath, so I prefer to only wear them with my fullsuit. It is made of foam, and the paw shape is made of 3d printed material. The bottom is made of thick EVA, as they are outdoor paws. I love how my maker matched the papaya color of my fursuit to the EVA foam on the bottom of my paws. It was a small detail that made it so much more adorable. There are two shoes on the inside that resemble the popular Crocs. One side had a part of the shoe become loose off of the sole of the fursuit, I glued it back on. I have gone outside on harsh terrain, and they have stood up well to it. The claws hang off the foot and hit the ground often, but it is easy to clean them up. One claw has some sewing that has gotten loose from the cleaning process, but I have fixed it.

Visual SatisfactionThe feet are symmetrical and are so exact, I had to make sure which was for my left and which was for my right! All of the claws are in the right direction and match my hand paws. The shaving is good and reflects my characters different fur colors. There are no paw pads because they are outdoor paws, which I knew of. All of the colors are exact and match my character. The fur for the papaya color is cut off near the bottom, so it does not get too dirty when I walk. I am happy with the durability of these paws.

Final CommentsOverall, my fursuit is amazing. My maker was clear with me and communicated very well. I am happy with the outcome, and I look forward to using my fursuit to play at many more conventions to come. Small fixes here and there will be made, but I am very pleased with everything.
