Very simple! They had a commission form on twitter and had contacted me shortly after via email about further details.
The maker was very professional, kind, and understanding about my expectation/needs for the commission. It did not take long for them to get back to me (maximum a day) and we eventually moved to twiiter for faster communication. They were also quick to update me on personal issues, which were all perfectly reasonable.
The head was completed within the estimated amount of time with no issues! initially, we had no deadline, but I had requested the head to be done before TFF a few months prior to the con. It was done and shipped a whole month before with no rush! Tracking was provided, although delayed by a day thanks to the package carrier.
I can't stop being amazed by the build quality and look of the head. It was everything I asked for and beyond. I really have nothing else to point out. The color matching, fit, and style of the head was perfect and up to par with the maker's other works.
Fit: Perfectly comfortable to wear with and without balaclava on (though I recommend having it on for reasons I'll share later)! Inside the head comes with an optional elastic strap that feels really sturdy and doesn't rub up against my head. There's also some pillow padding on the top of my head and chin for extra support. The back has a zipper for easy access, sometimes gets caught on my hair, but is fixable with the balaclava.
Ventilation: Took a bit to get used to since it was the first head I've worn for longer than a few minutes, but it has very good breathability with only a little stuffiness that's expected with any head. I don't feel like I'm suffocating, but it does trap a bit of moisture. All I need is a towel and some soapy water to get rid of all the sweat buildup inside.
Vision: I and my friends all agree that the vision is probably the best that any head can get. Despite the small pupils, my face is pressed up enough that I can see through them like they were my own eyes with only a few exceptions. Very tiny blindspot in the bottom middle due to the snout, but isn't a problem with forward visibility. No peripheral vision, but that's expected with literally almost all heads. For comparison, I can text on my phone and take pictures as I normally would, with only slightly tilted up due to the small downward blindspot.
Symmetry: Fantastic for a clay sculpted head! Nothing notable to point out and it's as perfect as you can get for how t was made. Same can be said for the paint and flocking.
Material: All the materials are high-quality and feel smooth. Fur is easy to brush and I love running my hands on it. Flocking is velvety and has survived multiple con-goers touching it, my sweaty hands holding it, and my brush cleaning it.
Expression: The expression is exactly what I had asked for and perfectly represents the vibe for my character. It looks like it just hopped out of an animated movie and I love that aspect about the maker's style.
Matching: Matches scaringly close to the references I had gave to them. I can see them taking aspects of my own art style and translating/mixing it in with their own with the head. Only change was the nose being connected to the lips, but I was definitely ok with that.
Not sure if it really counts, but the antlers are screwed on for easier transportation. They stay on pretty tight for long periods of time, but do need the occasional tightening, which I was warned about from the beginning, so no issues there.
