Wear Satisfaction

The fursuit head took a little bit of effort to get on the first few times, but I feel with repeated wear and general experience I can wear the head quite easily. I’ve worn it for extended periods of time without it feeling loose or unstable so when the head is on, it feels snug and is tight enough that it won’t fall off accidentally. I can do exercises and dances while wearing it so there are no problems there. The ventilation is pretty good. The mouth can be opened which allows for air to flow nicely. It helps to wear a balaclava underneath. When I get too hot I can open up the mouth opening to take in fresh air and I have a fan in my room to help with the heat. I haven’t tried wearing this in the summer but presumably with some extra fans blowing cold air at me I should be fine. The vision from the eye sockets is pretty good. I can see things in front pretty well. With a little adjustment I can continue to do activities I would do out of suit like watching tv, playing games and chatting with others.

Visual Satisfaction

The head is a great interpretation of how the maker visualises my fursuit reference images. The head is definitely symmetrical and matches the design well. The fursuit hear matches closely my vision for the character and covers and adequate portion of the fur underneath. The shaving is very good and there isn’t anything I would drastically change. The transition between the skin fur and the hear fur/eyebrows are really well done. The fur is a good length and is quite easy to brush. The detail on the muzzle with the nose scales has been done really well and has a nice leather-like feel to it. I believe the eyes are static but they do a good job of facing the desired angle for the camera. I feel I can achieve a lot of expressions with a combination of the head, body language and the removable eyelids. The fursuit head matches the concept art very well. I’m not experienced enough in fursuit making to provide any more detailed instructions at this stage. The maker spoke multiple times with me about the design and what could be done based on their previous portfolio.

Special Attachments and Features

Unlike some dragons, mine has hair on their head. The hair was put together really nicely in stages which allowed it to be built up over time depending on how much was needed. The character does not have horns which allows for more freedom with regards to the hair and the ears which turned out nicely.

Wear Satisfaction

The tail is very comfortable and not heavy at all. Rather than have it as a floor dragger, we made the choice for the tail to have a natural curl in it. The tail curl suits the character well and makes it long enough to enjoy without having to worry about it dragging on floors and getting dirty. The belt loop it comes with is very handy as I can combine it with my many partial looks to dress in jeans or other pants. I can use a dressing gown belt for when I want to combine my tail with my pyjamas or other belt-less pants.

Visual Satisfaction

The tail has a nice fuzziness look to it and feels soft to the touch. It’s very fluffy and is fun to swish around. The tail is symmetrical on both sides and the tail fluff matches pretty closely to the original ref sheet and examples. The tail part of my ref has always been a bit ambigious to start with so we discussed the possible ideas to make it happen. It ended up turning out really well. The fur is easy to brush.

Special Attachments and Features

The tail tuft at the end had to be worked out between me and the maker, since my designs weren’t quite set in stone. We ended up deciding with unshaved fur shaped into a leaf-type pattern. The pattern turned out really well and I’m very happy with the result. The tuft is sown directly onto the tail so there’s no worry about it falling off or becoming separated from the tail itself. The tail tuft feels very fluffy and the detail is great.

How was your concept art realized?
The fursuit maker followed the concept art very well. It’s impossible for a 1:1 translation but it felt like any changes were the correct choices and we discussed these all throughout the crafting process. I felt for the price paid and the time taken, I don’t think a better job could have been done with this fursuit.

How well does everything fit together and match up?
Due to the maker using the same material for the tail, armsleeves and head, everything matches up in terms of the colour and the type of fur used. Everything fits together nicely and looks great as a matching set. I used other fursuit makers for the rest of the partial fursuit but due to the instructions given to Creations of the Cosmos, they were able to ensure a seemless look between the parts so they all matched up pretty well. I can’t see any issues of future wear and tear as I look after the fursuit quite well. This matches the maker’s previous style which is great. Considering this is the first dragon the fursuit maker has ever made, they’ve done a fantastic job.

Overall Project Quality
The fursuit parts are all fantastic and go well together. The items are of high quality and I believe they will last a long time particularly if I look after them well. I would say it is definitely worth the price paid and the materials used were the right ones.

Purchase Process

Initial Contact
The maker was great at outlining what the process would be and providing a rough estimate of when the partial fursuit would be completed. We talked through Facebook initially for the down payments and to discuss terms. After that I was invited to the maker’s Telegram Group chat to see WIP examples of previous suits and parts. I spoke to the maker directly through telegram which is where the references and more detailed discussions could take place.

Maker Response Time
The maker was very quick at replying, usually within 1-2 days at the most. We communited the majority of the time through Telegram besides a few messages sent through Facebook.

Maker Professionalism
The fursuit maker was very professional throughout and very good at providing examples of previous work. They spoke in a very honest and friendly manner and I became friends with the other members of the Telegram group. It felt like a nice community with people sharing similar ideas and thoughts about fursuits along with general chit-chat. The maker did a good job of explaining any issues or delays that came up which managed to be resolved during the process.

Project Completion Time
The maker linked me to a trello queue where I could see what steps were going to be taken during the various stages. I didn’t want to rush the maker so I didn’t give them any solid deadlines and went with their judgement. The armsleeves and tail were completed fairly quickly. It’s the head that took a while to put together. Progress had been fairly consistent and generally things went quite well throughout. Due to various circumstances the head wasn’t ready by the initial date but I was happy with the reasoning and in a situation where I was happy to wait until it was completed.

When it was shipped in December this was with Royal Mail Guaranteed delivery. While the tracking did claim to be guaranteed AM, due to various circumstances it didn’t actually arrive til the PM. I’m satisfied the maker did everything they could and the blame was with Royal Mail on this occasion. The packages arrived virtually unscathered so very happy with the outcome.

Final Comments
The maker was fantastic and very helpful throughout the whole process. This was my first time working with a maker on such a big fursuit project so I had a lot to learn. I asked some friends for impartial advice during the process and they were able to help. I did some research on what types of dragon fursuits had a similar style so I was able to inform the maker about what kind of style I was going for. I felt that all changes were mutual and we ended up creating an awesome fursuit together based on our combined efforts.

The maker sent along some goodies along with the fursuit head including a mini sewing kit and a personalised thank you note. I was sent some stickers too. It was a pleasure working with the maker and I will definitely keep them in mind for future projects or referrals for a friend. I’m very grateful for them for all their hard work.
