I found the maker on Twitter as an illustrator and commissioned her a couple of drawings. Then she mentioned she was a fursuit maker and she was planning on opening some fursuit slots. Then we continued contact on Telegram. The purchase was done directly with the maker though Google forms and PayPal.
At first it was great. She was keeping me up to date with the commission. But when she didn't meet the first established deadline the communication started to decay. Some times I didn't hear from her in 2 – 3 weeks or even months. Instead of the maker contacting me, I was the one messaging her to check on the overall progress of the project. Sometimes those messages even went unanswered for a while. When she answered there was always something happening IRL that had to push the deadline further back, promising that it would be worth the wait.
I commissioned the maker on November 2020 and I knew there were 2 people before me on the queue. She told me that she would start working on my commission on March of 2021 at the latest. The project started on March but because of some IRL stuff with the maker the deadline was pushed back multiple times. At the end the commission was finished on November 2022. She used UPS to ship the suit. Customs was fast so my suit was not damaged or got stuck somewhere.
I'm not satisfied with what I received. One of the main issues I had was that the commission had to be changed to a "partial" but in the end the maker got someone who could help her with the body and continue as a full suit commission. The problem was that the two makers assured me that the suit would be the same style and size as originally planned but apparently there was some miscommunication and the head and the tail ended up being smaller than the body. In the beginning the maker told me that I was her first international costumer. Thanks to that I tried to give her as much leeway as I was able and also send her all the measures and DTDs (body and head) so she could have a complete model of my myself. In the end the parts did not fit properly. I don't enjoy wearing the suit and I'm not satisfied with the product I received for the amount that I payed and time that it took to be completed.
Satisfied how it fits?
No! Wearing the head is quite uncomfortable, its tight for me, so I can't wear it for long periods of time. it can give me headaches if I do. My nose fits ok but it doesn't have a lot of room, my mouth doesn't match with the head's mouth and because it is tight it's really difficult to talk, I have to take off the head every time I need to speak.(So I just try to avoid speaking at all in suit)
Can you breathe well?
Nope, because the head is tight there is not a lot of room for the nose, so breathing is kind of difficult. The mouth is too tight as well and because it doesn't match with my mouth, breathing is quite difficult. There is no good ventilation on the head: no fans or extra holes to help with the air flow so it can get really stuffy and uncomfortable. The mouth of the head is really small (This is common on Kemono suits, so that was expected) so if you want to have a drink in suit you have to carry a straw with you or take the head off. In my case I do have to take the head off because, as I mention before, the head's mouth does not match with mine.
The vision:
The vision is okay. Because of the eye type is really narrow but its clear when is not foggy and the eye domes are really good. You have to turn your head to see since there is a huge blind spot (that is normal for this type of eyes)
Note: The head loosened a little bit after all this time of wearing it but it's still uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time.
The look is pretty cute not gonna lie. The reason why I commissioned this maker in the first place was the eyes: they look pretty astonishing and cute! Also, the default expression is really cute. It didn't come with magnetic/velcro eyelids, the ears are really well made and are very close to the ref sheet.
Symmetry
The symmetry is a little bit off though. The markings are not the same as my ref but its okay. The eyebrows are not the same as the one on my ref and also are not symmetric. The hair is also not symmetric: one side is a little bit longer than the other. The ears are also not in a symmetric position.
(Note: I understand that because it's hand made a perfect symmetry can be difficult to achieve and in my case is not that bad, just if you pay close attention you can really notice it)
Hair
The hair is not that great. It looks choppy and it doesn't feel like hair at all, the sides and the back area is just covered with fur. It doesn't have any strands of hair or some kind of a hair cut, its just the fur. in some areas of the front there are some bald spots and also some areas have leftover glue so it feel crusty or too hard.
Shaving
The shaving is a little choppy overall but the transitions from one type of fur to the other one its okay.
The maker of the body and the maker of the head were working together to make sure both pieces looked as if they were built on a similar scale and style. But in the end, the head ended up being smaller compared to the body.
The tail is the part that I didn't like the most. It comes with an elastic band that is sewn into the tail and one side is larger that the other one. The tail is stiff and really short compared to the body. Its comfortable to wear and easy to adjust.
The length of the tail is too small, and is not similar in size and shape to the one on my ref sheet.
Does it Fit?
Yes, the shoes she used for the feet used to belong to me so the size is a perfect fit. The feet are big so moving with them is a little bit tricky but manageable. The feet are for indoors so they didn't come with soles or any kind of fursuit sandals.
The interior
The feet didn't come with a lining.
Overall the feet are pretty good.
Visually speaking the paws looks pretty good, the shape is good. It looks like Kemono style feet but the only issue they have is that in my ref sheet my character has 3 toes and the final product the paws have 4.
The shaving is a little bit irregular on some areas, specially on the sole area. The colors of the indoor sole and the paws are no the same.
